Good evening all. 41ºF for the start, clear sky, light breeze. Light wind, clear sky, and high temp was 72ºF. Made coffee to start day, grief share, then bike ride, town trip for lunch, cash a check, sign FD signature cards, pay insurance bills, E0 gas, groceries and meds. After putting groceries away took a nap then minced for dinner.
Resuming yesterday 11:41 AM CDT post 205,451:
David glad Canadians have flight home. When we moved from Rolla to St Charles, house wouldn't sell, so rented it out. Renters left fry pan on stove on hi and fire resulted. Took a while to get if fixed and house market improved so house got sold after that. Ribs sounded good. Hope fan swap went well, and HH was good.
RNG glad swing set gone. Good to hear better showing than Chinese "family". Hope flunky follows instructions well. Hope you found something useful an entertaining to get into.

Scott(vt) nice progress on deck. Thanks for pic
Bill growing up it was frozen concentrate or Tang, no fresh squeezed.
Randy(wag) glad good trip to Launie. Glad all accomplished and you weren't very late to Council meeting. I think the signs end when you pull the them back out ;)
Kyle I "think" Drew indicated that low probability of wise spending happening with that wink ;) Sorry you were having the heart palpitations. and no caffeine help then to go away. Hope you got to see tennis match.
Kyle hope the new stalk helps the low beam issue.
Paul glad you helped him to be a better contractor, we can always use good contractors.
Kyle thanks for story, I would believe the Lord had a hand in it.

Drinking cup of hot coffee. 18° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 45° with partly cloudy skies. After taking Sassy on her daily walk. Decided to get a haircut. That about all I got done yesterday. Need to find something today. I am sure there is something on the To-Do list that needs to get done.

Good Morning All.

good morning all
a plant unfriendly 29 out now going up to 50 in sunshine today.
will be a busy day for me.
first I am headed to rv to clean it and take more pics for one guy.
then off to hoagie shop to pick up lunch and will take to my handicapped friend nearby.
then hustle home for my landlady coming at 2pm.

Mostly, yes that was motorhome where slide jammed and they said part was a week out.
knowing what I know now, the right tech could have fixed it. So much on youtube now, lot of how to stuff,
can now fix a lot more myself. Plus the autoleveling system failed. Know how to fix that now too.
brand new Winnebago, buying a brand name did not help me here when Lippert systems fail.
it was that experience that made me seriously determined to stick it out when things broke on last trip.
glad I did.

my adult Daisy Red Rider showed up yesterday. Scope and mounting rail separate. Plus some sight in targets.
for sure not letting my crazy neighbor next door see it. Plus a big bottle of bbs, copper coated steel.
will put it together this weekend when rain keeps me inside.

Good morning,
26° now highs in the low/mid 40’s and mostly sunny today. Winds WNW at 10-20 mph.

Yesterday was too wet, cold and windy to play outside so just helped with some housekeeping. We did see the sun poke out in the late afternoon, but by then energy conservation was well underway lol.

Scotty - we didn’t see but a couple of snow squalls come through yesterday mostly rain, you and Thomas are in the western hinterlands, we’re closer to coast.

Not sure about today, maybe a dump run and pick up dog food. If the wind dies down early enough more pick up sticks needed.

Enjoy your day everyone
Stay safe and healthy

bright moon out last night, big change from all the cloudy weather.
cold air came in and cleared out the fog and stickiness

a reminder...forgot to mention this earlier, but took the time to blow out my air compressor drain valve last time I used the Makita
compressor. A little moist air came out, enough to wet my finger. Spring means warm days and cold metal and that means condensation so a reminder to blow out your air tanks. (though I know some of you have automatic ones on big compressors, air driers, etc)

we aren't going to discuss politics here but since most of us like tools and visit Harbor Freight and Walmart,
if the 104% tariff on Chinese goods kicks in, that's obviously huge, doubling cost.
maybe a stock up trip to HF in next month before they reprice everything makes sense.
70 percent of Walmart non food items come from China.
I'm buying an extra bottle of Italian olive oil next time I shop. ( I need it anyway...)

anything else we should stock up on?

25 and heavy frost, going to 57. Woodstove feels good this morning.

Wife happy I built a fire last night. She is sick again after babysitting our granddaughter for a couple of days. Since I shared her bubble tea using the same huge straw, I'm worried I might be next. Also doesn't help that we have explosions of pollen from the wind gusts that make the air look foggy for a while.

Speaking of explosions, we were hiking a trail right next to a granite quarry yesterday when they set off an explosion. It shook the ground and caused a blast of air to come by. I don't know who jumped higher, me or Della. Yikes.

Decks are looking good. They'll be nice to use this summer.

Thomas, hope it's Boo.

Roasted 3 new coffees yesterday. Drinking an El Salvador this morning that is incredibly chocolatey and smooth. My wife will like it when she gets up and I make her a pour over.

Was planning to go to the mountains today, but too much to do around here before the rain comes in tomorrow.

are your eyes itching yet? Mine started two days ago, sneezing yesterday
but still it was nothing like the pine pollen in NC.
I had never seen clouds of yellow pollen before, at times almost like thick yellow smoke.
always thought I had oversexxed trees but seems trees designed for wind assistance make even more pollen
naturally.

Here's a more detailed explanation:
  • Dioecious Trees:
Some trees, like ash, mulberry, and willow, are dioecious, meaning they have separate male and female trees. In these cases, only the male trees produce pollen, while the female trees produce flowers that will develop into fruit or seeds.

    Monoecious Trees:
Other trees, like oak, pine, and fig, are monoecious, meaning they have both male and female flowers on the same tree.

    Perfect Flowers
Some trees, like hazelnut and apple trees, produce "perfect" flowers that contain both male and female parts within a single blossom.

    Pollen and Reproduction:
Pollen grains, which contain the male gametes, are produced by the anthers of the stamen. When pollen lands on the stigma of a compatible flower, it germinates, producing a pollen tube that transfers the sperm to the ovule, leading to fertilization and seed production.

    Botanical Sexism:
The preference for planting male trees in urban areas, which leads to high pollen levels, is sometimes referred to as "botanical sexism".

I thought the last one was funny. Female trees produce nuts and "drop stuff" vs males which make all the pollen. So if you are sneezing in the city, thank the city planners

  • funny that Wngsprd and I writing about pollen same time

Good morning, the low is 6 and going to a high of 34°F. Wind Calm. Sunny! I can handle that.
For the next 7 days the daytime high will not be under freezing. Bye, bye snow!

Dump/town run today.

I have 2/3 of a cord of wood left over from last winters' order. We will pile that where it is easy to get at next winter and use the heat from that to help kiln dry next winters wood after it gets put into the basement.
I usually burn at 15% or less moisture content.

There is my day planned out.

Have a safe day all

27 outside right now, That's going to put the brakes on the fruit trees this year and snap the flowering spell we have going on right now. Too bad. May get into the mid 50's today.

Family is starting to show up, lots of trips back and forth to the airports. Supplies for the w/e are also showing up. As if we don't have enough stuff here already we look like a supply depot for a spring offensive now. Someone went cheap and decided not to cater.....figures. BIL is on the road shortly from FLA. Guess he wanted to avoid the women. LOL.

Today looks to be a make space available day, get people where they need to be and I'd like to pressure wash the house. But it may be too cold for that.

Hope all have a great hump day, be safe!
