Only 1 fluke here, and one old radio shack analog meter.

I really like fluke measuring equipment. I keep a dmm on both my upstairs and downstairs benches as well as one in my car, the KubVan and my Veto tool bag. I have the Simpson 260 analog meter on the electronics bench, but I took the batteries out so they wouldn’t leak out of neglect. I’ve had that meter for 60 years, it’s been calibrated many times.

I just got one of these, it seems to be an insane value, its ability to graph is very handy. Was able to diagnose a weak motor capacitor by looking at the duration of the inrush current on the graph.

Good morning! 57˚F heading to only 60˚ with N wind, cloudy. Our big 2 days of rain only produced .03" each day, a big disappointment for me not the adventure farm where there will be hopefully crowds today, the first day of the kids Easter egg hunts, continued baby animal bottle feeding and just opened Strawberry picking.

The Adult Flashlight Easter egg hunts start next week after sunset. It is a popular date event for adults only, the eggs have numbers on them for a raffle drawing and some good prizes, the tickets are $35 ea.

Good morning, the low is 38 and going up to 41°F. Wind ESE 11 mph. Showers ending this morning.

If enough snow is gone from the back of the 500 gal. oil tank AND it is not raining I may pull the pump and see about a longer suction pipe. I also must exchange the gauge for the whistle. I am not overly impressed with the rope gauge, but it will have to do for now. Right now it is showing 1/4 full and there is 13" of fuel in the tank.
Downloaded and printed a tank dip chart yesterday and put it on a piece of cardboard (thanks Amazon), today I will laminate it. That should keep it good for at least one year.

There is my day planned out.

I had a good clamp tester for many years, then my middle son went into the Electric sign business and I gave it to him. Don''t know if he still has it or if he upgraded...Haven't heard from him in 32 years. No news is good news.

Have a safe day all

8am Saturday.
If I had it to do over again I'd be a weather person.
For close to the last 24 hours we've been under a heavy rain with flooding potential warning.
Rain yesterday morning. NO.
Rain by noon. NO.
Rain by 6pm. NOPE.
By midnight. Not a drop.
By 6am today. Hardly enough to wet the dust.
Rain starting in 3 hours. I kinda doubt it.
These people with all their high tech radars, satellites, computers, education and dare I say experience can't figure out when it's going to rain but are willing to upset people with their announcements.
We've had a lot of precipitation the last week and the ground is saturated and there has been some flooding already.
Just what some in low lying areas need is these F'ups scaring them some more.
I know that most of the TV weather presenters just read what they are handed but their smug smiles when they screw up...
If you got it wrong like that at any other job your first day would be your last. Certainly by Friday.
Here they laugh in my face and continue to collect a pay cheque.
My conspiracy theory is that so many weather people are attractive women is to distract the men watching from all the wrong predictions.
I'll hepl them get it right later today. I'm going to take my Mazda to the car wash.:ROFLMAO:

good morning, 57 going to 75 wind gusts to 18 MPH some rain chances tonight

Managed to not get stuck again yesterday down in the meadow. The deep ruts from the other day will disappear in time. Still one more day or so of tree shelter work then it is time to pick up sticks and branches. After all the storms there are no trees down but a lot of smaller stuff to pick up that could interfere with the mower

Good Morning!!!! 42F @ 5:45AM. Plenty of sunshine. High around 75F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.

Happy doesn't sound too happy with his weather forecasters! 🤣 For a couple of years I was commuting an hour each way via motorcycle. My rule was I'd ride the bike unless it was actually raining when it was time to leave, otherwise I'd cave in and drive a car. The bike was motivated by the very poor parking situation at the destination. Very long walk if I drove, parking almost at the door if I rode. If I didn't start off in rain gear, I'd take it with me. Don't remember ever having to stop and put it on, but many times I'd either wear it there but not on the way home and vice versa. Have good rain gear and you really don't care what the weather does.

I only have two Fluke meters, but also several of the free HF ones, a tiny digital one in the motorcycle tool kit, and a digital oscilloscope purchased to chase down the electrical sag problem up at the old house. I struggle with not being able to see electricity like you can a fluid. But at least I don't get wet.

IRS letter turned out to be an advisory that someone had accessed my account online. No bit deal, as that someone was me. It would have been nice if I could have been able to download a human readable copy of an old tax return, though. I mailed a letter with a check to order one yesterday. Pretty shameful situation in this modern day and age of computers and e-payments.

Just as bad at the DMV, where I did get a much delayed call back yesterday. They set a time for the call, but when it was late a half an hour I looked at the text message they'd sent and saw it required an acknowledgement, which I'd missed on first reading. Another half hour and the phone rang. That person couldn't help, but the next one told me to ignore the two unneeded endorsement charges. He seemed to laugh it off, but in an even tempered voice I suggested he call the problem to the attention of the powers that be to get it fixed so millions of other people don't have to waste their time.

Two more showings scheduled today, many hours apart. Realtor is having to work for his commission.

Gonna try to stay away from the office/computer today and get some real work done. Not off to a good start.🤣🤣🤣

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend...

Good Morning
It’s 53° and grey outside. Likely the high for the day, and rain is likely throughout the weekend.

Yesterday started with breakfast with the professor, then picked up oldest son from local tire shop where he dropped his car off for an alignment.
After that it was back to tinkering in the shop, finally finished with the wire locator project, it’s completely functional, works as it should, including depth.

Next project was the standby generator, it needed routine maintenance, and I added a remote monitoring system based on a raspberry PI. A few struggles getting the PI configured and communicating with the outdoor access point. It worked out really well, and the software was free (donation ware) on GitHub.

Plus I can remotely start the generator and even activate the transfer switches. Just the ticket to amusement a geek like me.
Of course, I overfilled the oil and had to drain out some of the high dollar full synthetic oil I put into it. The battery is three years old and still capacity checks the same as it did when I installed it. I guess the built in maintainer is pretty good.

Today started with having youngest son and his buddy over for waffles, his wife was working, other son and grandson didn’t feel like traveling the 1/4 mile for homemade waffles.
I’ll be heading over to the shop shortly to clean up messes, starting with the tools from yesterday.

Morning all, 54 going to 55 and light rain.
Looks like spring is sticking around, maybe.
Tomorrow off to look at a college campus.

Dad's taxes are done and now need his GF signature to mail in, so almost there on that front.

I have some an old beckman, some newer ones, clamp on ammeter. One in house, one in both garages. Might even have one more somewhere, but it's been missing for a while. So IU just bought the one Popgadget had the link too, very cool graphing features for so little $.
Neat generator monitor, I have an arduino oscilloscope that works pretty well for low speed stuff.
I used to work on embedded controller stuff, those are fun.

Be well,
