Good Morning,
Well I tried out my borrowed bed extender, to pick up 10 more 12 ft boards. Works well, but I will be pretty well loaded when I put everything in the bed 😉

Dennis, this works well for 12 ft pieces but if I had 16 ft it would be sticking out too far.
I think i'd tape them together, those things slide. Looks like same color my wife chose.

our usual breakfast place was packed, so went to a diner down road, which was very good.
Stopped by lowes to pick up some trex clips for the decking, just a small box. Realized later the box had been opened before.. Was missing the 4 starter clips (which I don't need), and contained 93 of the regular clips, so 3 extra.. So I came out ahead on someones prior return..
Worked rest of day on deck, took down step rails, removed nails from last 2 railing sections, and put a temp screw in to hold them.
removed couple sections of siding where the new ledger board will go for the lower deck, zip taped the wall up above the new deck line, then taped the tyvek over the zip.
Carried a 2x10x16 by myself and it's level, but still need to remove the small garage deck to install it. When I build the garage back around 2000, I left a couple PT boards stubbed out to support this deck, just took me 25 yrs to start building the lower deck.... Zip taped everything good and rolled the tape.

Looks like I was off some for the post I marked the other day, so glad I decided to start lower deck ledger first, as it will determine placement of post on the main deck. do think the corner of the garage is a little out of square also. ledger will be partially on concrete garage wall.

wore me out again, but a nice day to work. Will be getting rain and storms tomorrow and monday, so probably can't do any more till tuesday.

Meanwhile at the farm, 3-4 truckload of workers came and put in silt fence along the access ROW. They also propped up the power lines to the well, and put flags across on poles. Hope they left some gaps so I can get the tractor into the field....
Maybe I said this, but they cut a bunch more trees the other day along the work area, that should not have been cut. Oh well, my brother said, more firewood.

Seem like she has mice or tree rats, she is not sure which. Told her to get a female cat. Experience has taught me that female cats hunt better than males.
A mama cat with kittens is the best hunter. They can clear out a yard full of gophers in a week. Mice are no match at all. Tree rats take a little longer but they can definately cut them back too.

As you all know, I keep my firewood in the basement, one day one of the female cats came upstairs with a garter snake she had caught.
The cats used to regularly bring home rabbits. We praise them up and tell them to eat them outside.
I watched my Tuxedo cat catch a bat in the house one night at about 2 A.M. She got to eat it under the kitchen table.
