Good morning!!!!

Good Morning
14° with a high in the middle 20’s for today. At least the winds have somewhat subsided.
Yesterday didn’t follow the plan very closely. After breakfast the phone started ringing. I picked up the RAV4 with new struts, and dropped it off at the tire shop for alignment and new front tires.
On the way home from the tire shop I got a call about picking up a good customer in Martha’s Vineyard. He had planned to drive a car back for service, but the ferries weren’t running due to the high winds. I couldn’t line up a copilot until later in the afternoon, but agreed to do it.

Once I got home I jumped on the winch project, made the fairlead mount, and got it ready to test on the machine.

It was a total success. All the remains is to take it apart and paint it. Finished up in time to get a bite to eat, get cleaned up , changed and head to the airport.
The flight went well, the winds aloft were howling, it was 30 minute from Philly to the Vineyard and an hour back. Landings were actually fun. The reality is that when the conditions are challenging, you are definitely on your A game.
Today I’ve got to get some paperwork done, and make the firewood run I didn’t get to yesterday. Not sure what else will pop up, but it seems something always does.

Good Moning!!!! 51F @ 6:00AM. A mix of clouds and sun. High 67F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.

Spent the morning on paperwork yesterday, then played around trying to get the drain under the RV pad open again. Got some water through it with the garden hose, but not convinced it's clear yet. Need a fitting or two for a pressure washer hose, more head scratching.

Did get rid of the love seat I had for sale, still no call back from the dizzy lady with the going out of business furniture store. Had someone lined up to buy the firewood pallets, but they were a no-show, no-call flake.

Need to run errands today and get packed for the trip north. Not sure what else will come up, but it's always something.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

Morning all;
A nice sunshiny morning with a nippy 2F at 9AM today.
Got a light dusting of snow last night so I'll run the blade down the driveway, then get some grit spread on it to help in the traction department. About an inch of shiny ice on quite a bit of it, which is not a nice thing on that steep slope. Think I'll have to "salt" the face of my sand pile with some calcium flake as it has quite a bit of frost in it. Got quite a bit of rain during the summer and I neglected to put a new tarp on it last year to shedd some of the rain.
Also got to call down to the PA area and pay a bill from McGrew Equipment and set up some freight from them to me. Tired of using either the bucket or my starting to get rickety work platform and rather then build one I just bought a 4x8 work platform. It will make it much nicer taking care of my roof gutters in the winter (damned pines shedding needles) getting stopped up with ice and pine needles.

Have a good day, stay safe and well

7°F and clear skies this morning, going all the way up to 19° today. Colder still tomorrow and Friday mornings, then by Monday the high will be near 60°.

Please keep your hands and feet inside the ride at all times.

Our much ballyhooed Snowmageddon left us with about an inch of snow overnight. Fine, powdery stuff than blows away with a leaf blower. Still, 16 of my people didn't show up for work today. (sigh)

BEF, I use to use about 10-15 gallons a year when I was using the rotary cutter to mow the pasture. Since I've been mowing out there with the zeroturn, I use maybe 5 gallons of diesel a year. I need to use the tractor more.

Good morning, gents.

67°F and .04 inches rain.

Spent most of the afternoon at the hospital for my VA evaluations. First up was the breathing tests. About 1 1/2 hours sitting in a booth breathing into a computer controlled device. Early on I learned that trying to expel too deeply can cause me to pass out. That was a strange feeling, only did it once. The med tech was excellent. Needed 2 chest X-rays. That took almost another 1 1/2 just waiting. Then a blood draw for some thyroid tests. Awaiting results.

Need to putz around today, hoping to get that tilling debris cleaned out of rotor again. I did get lift rod changed out from the broken adjustable to anon adjustable. Should work fine.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Not that I'm thinking of moving to Texas, Kyle, but why would you penalize people moving to Texas by requiring them to pay property taxes if the "been theres" don't? I think I'd be more concerned about how Texas is going to pay for the goods and services that are currently funded by property taxes. Are there shortages of goods and services that can be attributed to a large influx of new mouths to feed? Are you worried that state politics might swing to the left? All you have to do to discourage migration to Texas is show 'em some photos of your cracked mud pastures, fire ant hills, and pickup trucks with gun racks in the back windows.🤣
I'll try to explain how I feel.

Imagine a scenario, where an investor came to you and said "RNG, I need your talent to start a company, I want you to buy in a 5% interest, and you'll be the primary on getting the company moving. Oh and I'll pay you a 6 figure salary until the profits can handle it."
So, you agree and fork in your $250,000 investment and on Monday you start work. You work 80+ hour weeks, with tons of stress and worry to get the business rolling down the tracks. After 25 years of your blood, sweat, and tears of hard work, your investor comes to you and says "Great work RNG, the company is doing so well, I'm going to bring in another 8 people, offer to start them at your salary, and GIVE them a 5% stake in the company to help lure them onboard."

The newbys have no sweat equity.

How would you feel about that?

We do have infrastructure problems in areas, and not enough water to handle much more of a populace right now. But we have a $22 Billion dollar surplus even after having to spend over $10 billion at our southern border.

successful afternoon
after expedition brought back, loaded an empty propane tank and took that to TSC to get filled.
then down 611 to Doylestown where regular was 3.19 and the car wash surprisingly not full.
so home I came with a full tank of gas, a clean car and a gps that as yet has not gone psycho.
1200 dollar bill under warranty. Warranty cost 2600 for three years. I'm betting I get my money out of it.

while just cold here, looks like nasty weather coming through South of here.
Buppies sure hope you get your power back on.
maybe a sign to get yourself a whole house gen

Frits, hope your wife is feeling better.

14 deg was low for the month.
made Sams and Costco run, gas was $2.80 at Sams, over $3 most other stations, $3.15 at our normal station.
No 1% milk at either place, that was the reason to stop at Costco. Still managed to spend almost $100 there, since I was there picked up a few things....
Lunch at mission BBQ, got the cheapest thing, pulled pork sandwitch, 1 side, small drink, still over $15. They getting too expensive for lunch.
Roads have been brined. Now saying we might get snow in the morning.

good afternoon, 13 to start with this morning warmed up to 26 currently

Cranked up the stove and turned on the built in blower. Puts out a lot of heat.

Wife is still suffering with pains. The late infusion has likely contributed

D wanted us to go with her to a cabin down in VA for a few days but we turned it down since it may be too much for wife. Glad we did because she called and sent pictures and videos of how hard it was to get there with 2 miles of narrow steep access road that was iced over. She was glad the car did not end up in the ravine.

But the cabin looks nice once she got there.

Mount Jackson up in the mountain is pretty scenic

Surprised to get an email back already from the PA twp, regarding the land I commented on last week. I had asked about their building process. They replied "The house must be built first" before any other buildings can be built, the same issue I had in VA. Again, a pretty rural area, and surprised by the control they want to have on their population. I thanked them for the quick reply, and said their policy was a No Go for me ever buying or living there. We had already decided not to pursue, but that was another reason not to. The fact they are requiring another perc test, after it had already passed a prior perc just a few years back, is itself a reflection of the control they want to put on people. I hate overbearing bureaucracy.
