Good evening all. 18ºF for the start, mostly clear sky, windy. moderate to light wind slowing down through the day, mostly clear sky, and high temp was 37ºF. Thursday is setting up to be our snow day, 3 time in last 45 years Dallas got 4 inch or more, this could be #4. Made Coffee to start day, made oatmeal for breakfast, cleaned out insert and stoked leftover coals and got it going again. Got the inside Christmas decorations put away, outside lights unplugged but too cold to get on roof and take them down. Trip to town to get lunch, SUV inspected to for recall, doesn't have the problem, got meds and groceries. Did get nap but no ride, couldn't get myself on trainer in garage. Look like all riding this week on trainer :(
Dennis 22ºF hope the pellet stove is running good!
Ron glad you got your exercise, just think where your BP wold be without it!! Sorry no spaghetti made, heard back from stepdaughter/hubby that they liked my batch.Sorry about your issues with Xfinity, hope you can get all of them fixed without bursting a blood vessel. Nice woodpecker pic.
Drew glad you got a relaxing days. Hope you enjoyed the snowy driving.
Bill hope you had a good trip to North Bay, and you get your ribs :)

Spike56 hope you were ready for it, We were 18ºF here at 6:30.
Kyle I was unprepared to be my wife's executor either. You will do fine, hope you don't have a tight schedule to keep. Prayers sent.
Don you are a bit warmer than us. Glad you don't have to go out in the cold. Glad you worked out what the company really wanted.
Mike sorry barn is losing roof parts. Hope you got the driveway plowed. Typical snow day traffic in other words.

Drew when I was in high school, there was 3 in freezing rain and they didn't call school and no chains for buses! It has sure changed! Hope nobody ran into you while you were diving.
Frits sorry about no plow till it's fixed. Circuit boards expensive to make especially when they are low production.
Dennis glad you could sleep in Lazyboy. I sleep better getting and going to bed anymore.
Dennis nice neighbor.
Friend(trac) sorry you couldn't plow before work, and roads not plowed either. Got luck with phone system migration, been through those.
David think of us while you are mowing in flip flops. Hope town trip fully successful.
Drew mowing the snow does make and "interesting" mental pic.
Drew must take some finesse shoveling snow on gravel driveway. You missed out on using snow blower.
Bill glad good trip to North Bay. I use a smaller shovel than I used to.
PJ glad they cancelled work. Sorry remote access didn't work either. Sorry snow was so heavy. Glad you got tractor going and got nap and driveway cleared. Dinner sounds good.

Good (Tuesday) evening. Overnight Low of 7.3C and it's presently 18.2C [down from 23C], clear & calm-ish. There was 11.0mm in the gauge @ 0900.

Away early this A.M. to Bicheno to tour "Natureworld", a fairly decent 'little zed' zoo. You could feed the wallabies from your hand and there were about 31 Tassie devils. A feeding demonstration with 3 of the devils was conducted... so, yes, it was very interesting for my Brisbane guests.

Lunch was at "The Lobster Shack" in Bicheno. Very Nice place with a great view and I'd never been there before. (y)

Home now for the rest of the evening. Guests are heading into Launie tomorrow prior to the two females flying out and my Mate returning here for another week.

Prayers to you Lyle.

That's about it, take care all.

Was tired I got home from there. Did get my 1/2 hour on recumbent bike. Dinner was leftovers in fridge. Hope to get spaghetti cooked today.

18 going to 36, but the wind may become a power outage problem today as the trees are covered in snow and icicles.

We got 2 more inches of powder snow last night, and Della uses her nose like a snow plow to push it into a pile. I took her for a hike in the back woods yesterday...found no tracks except squirrel and fox. Should find more today.

BEF, that glove finger looks like it needs a wrap of duct tape! Hope your finger feels better today.

Wag, sounds like visiting you would be a lot of fun!

good morning all
a cold and windy day today, high right around freezing. Brrrrr.
no plans, think I finally might force myself to stay in office and go through about a foot tall pile
of paper.

got my SS announcement like many of you did, announcing a small COLA increase for this year.
SS very important to me and sure hope future politicians don't mess with it.

decided last night to pay off the Volvo and have one less payment each month. I didn't owe much on it and
a CD coming due will take care of that. I have very little income so important that I manage debt carefully.
CFP training has been invaluable for this.

have never placed making lots of money as a priority. Always was successful in business and decent earner.
But now....with hindsight, wish I had socked a little more away.
might sound familiar...
my biggest challenge was retiring too early, because of my wife's health.
I've never regretted being her caregiver for seven years.
nor do I regret taking all those expensive cruises just to bring some joy into her life.
Always figured it was part her money anyway and she wasn't going to make it, so she deserved to enjoy it.

when my uncle retired from the Navy, he substitute taught AP high school kids in Arlington VA for more than 20 years.
I wonder if I'm too old to teach...it was what I wanted to do after college, but the war prevented that.
I'd be afraid of doing a Biden, going down a path of thought and then forgetting why I got there...most of us do a little of this, but
it gets more common with me. It's why I do better writing than speaking.
Sometimes our brain can't handle multitasking.
I'd be teaching English, Social Studies, etc.
since my nephew is on the school board, and I'm an alumni, couple of local schools would welcome me.

something to ponder on a cold winter day
Popgadget meets the Professor for breakfast.
makes me wonder if my life and the Vietnam War had gone differently if the Professor could have been me.
am certainly verbose enough...;)

Good morning! 26˚F heading to 46˚ with sunny skies andN winds. There has been no frozen precipitation here with this cold front, but Thursday and Friday that will change but the temps will be in the 30s so they are predicting rain not snow now. House temp dropped to 67 this morning so 1 central heat unit is on.

Did lousy in cards last night only winning one game out of five, it was fun but even more fun for the competition. Today I have to get to the gym, still too cold to work outside. The little water 1/2 inch that was left in the fountain froze solid so I'm glad I emptied it, don't need a couple thousand pounds of cracked cement in the courtyard. Still waiting for a ship date and tracking number on the replacement pool surface bot.

I saw on the Farm's Facebook site that they planted 200,000 tulip bulbs, They are expecting them to bloom next month when I go back to "work". I feel guilty calling it work.

Drew, are you getting ready to pursue a teaching degree/certification, or is there a fast track for life experiences? My BIL was a teacher in Houston ISD and was very good. He won a substantial monetary prize for being Teacher of the Year.

24 outside right now. Heading to mid 30's.

Broke out the tractor yesterday to do the driveway. That was fun. Keeping up with clearing sidewalks and walkways, not so much fun.

This AM, the wind showed up. And I mean it showed up. Lots of branches down, looks like a chain saw day. And then a pick up sticks day after that.

Hope all are safe, warm and where they want to be. Have a good day all.

Don, not sure. I had that bucket list rv trip as a major life goal and now?
I could only do it part time nor am I sure I could do that much standing in a day.
But I did teach for two years, insurance, but still lesson plans and all the prep.
all kinds of possibilities, from just riding a desk for home room to actually teaching something.
I have some life experiences that might come to bear. Particularly if you can tell the kids/young adults
you went to school there too. We were blue and gold and I was always blue.
They still are blue and gold, so that gets them going...

I always got to chuckle about the private Quaker school's colors while I was there.
Blue and Grey.
and you will be pleased to know this school is anti woke enough to say their colors were a
two hundred year tradition that had nothing to do with the Civil War, and the blue and grey continue.
In a school overflowing with other DEI sensitivities, I was proud of them.
Worry about the stuff that needs worrying about...teach morality to your children along with STEM.
and I have a wonderful school fleece blanket in the nicest grey color.

public school is a meaner place. I listen to my nephew's little blonde daughter talking at the dinner table
about kids getting into fights and it made my eyes open.
We didn't have any fights when I was there...same school.
of course that was 60 years ago.
not sure I could put up with level of disrespect that comes with certain age levels.
That was really an issue with my naval captain uncle. The kids loved him being a hard ass.
I think because he challenged them mentally and I'm sure told good stories.

if I sell the rv, I'll give it some serious thought. Pretty sure you don't get aged out as a substitute teacher.

Kyle, stay warm. Next time there, I'm going to treat you at:
somehow that popped up and it looked pretty good. Don won't take me there so.... :giggle:
