Worked on getting that one soaker hose laid out on the row of indeterminate tomatoes on the vertical trellis yesterday.
Got the hose laid out and pinned down, weeds pulled from the un-mulched areas, then got the uncovered areas mulched. Those tomatoes are looking pretty good ... largest ones are over 40" tall and blossoms are appearing.
Also did some pruning on them, wove them through the remesh panels and used the garden velcro to secure them. Still more pruning to do.
Skies clouded up and we got a few sprinkles but no appreciable rainfall. As I predicted, it went north and south of us. It did cool the temps off about 10 degrees though ...
Once that was done I dug out the 2-program/2-outlet Melnor Aqua Timer and set up the program to water for 20 minutes and hooked it up to the soaker hose. That ran ok with no issues so I set it up for another 30 minutes and ran it again. This time it ran and by the end the water pressure had dropped to around 20 psi and wasn't pumping up meaning the well pump was sucking air so we shut it off.
So it looks like maybe a timing interval of around 30 minutes of watering followed by some longer interval to give the well bore time to refill should work.
Probably going to set the timer up so it runs late at night ... that way there will be no other water demand.
Woman wants to pick up more soaker hoses ... She was out there this morning watering other stuff. Apparently that is getting old ...
Still need to sell her on the idea of 4-program/4-outlet programable controller ...
Took a cattle panel up to a neighbor/friend up the street with the Kubota who was wanting one for an arched trellis.
Dispatched The Woman down to Harbor Freight for more AA batteries while I was doing that. Got batteries replaced in the one game can and got it programmed with custom settings. Need to get that put up later.
After I got back from doing that I got the 8 Long Cayenne Slim peppers planted in the last 8 holes in the 2 rows I planted the cabbage and broccoli in.
Now need to make more holes in the weedblock fabric ... hopefully it will cloud up or rain later so I can get that done today.
Depending on how bad it is out there I may try ferrying down some more screened compost for the eastern edge of the garden area and get that task completed.
Most likely though I'll be heading up to the shop and firing up the AC and working in there for a bit ... at least until it cools off a little.
Hope everyone is having a decent Tuesday ...
