My dad asked how I knew the hydro fluid was low on the tractor, I said listen for the whine going up hills. Then I said, you won’t be able to hear it. (Because of really bad hearing).
Follow the hoses, they like to put in the middle.

Good morning all,
61° now highs in the low 80’s and mostly sunny today. Watering done early this morning and need to get some weeding done as well. Yesterday was a quiet conserve energy day. Not much planned for rest of the week other than to stay cool.
Enjoy your day everyone
Stay safe and healthy

Good Morning,
Ct, 62 to start going to low 80’s. It will progressively hotter as we go through the week ! Can’t complain too much when I here what some others on here are dealing with !

I'm wanting to get a small spool of hard facing wire, to run a couple of beads on my lawnmower blades, then sharpen them
Kyle, I served my apprenticeship at Farrell Corporation, they built Banbury Mixers, just one of many different types of heavy machinery. The machine was used in the rubber industry for mixing the necessary compounds to manufacture tires ! The rotors inside of the machine had Stellite welded on the periphery to prevent wear, and then ground on an external grinder. That stuff was really tough, so I think you have a great idea there !

Scott, you wouldn't want to wash that great patina off the old girl.
Absolutely not ! 😉

Hope to get a long walk in before the heat arrives!

Hope all have a blessed and safe day ! 🙏

The Shasta Dam video was impressive,
It captured the hard work, risk taking, and "can-do" era of the past. Not that we don't do things today, but it was a bold step forward.

Forecast this morning-- 68F here as a HIGH today. With gusty winds-- a cold front coming. After 90's and 100's as highs I will take it!

Pup Rigby makes it all night until I get up at 4am to let him out. Pretty good for 8 weeks old. Then he goes back to sleep for a while until my wife gets up.

Good Morning!!!! Sunny skies. Becoming windy late. High 67F. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph.
The Red Flag Warning continues until tomorrow morning up north where I'm headed today.

I just tried to access my Netflix viewing activity, Kyle, but they seem to have forgotten most of it. I enjoyed Lost in Space, but most of the others aren't very family friendly.

Got the oil changed in the van; 20,000 miles since the purchase last June. What a mess my carelessness made disposing of the old stuff. Spilled quite a bit on the concrete, but most of it evaporated. 0W-20 will do that, fortunately.

Also got a pretty heavy piece of equipment moved into place, but now need a bigger piece of pipe to get it all the way down on the ground. So that's on the list to bring back next time.

One more trip through the "Last Minute" list, some breakfast, and I'll be on the road again...

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

good morning , 69 going to 90 and sunny.
Got Diesel at $4.09/gallon, gas and propane. Good for another month now.
Spent some time in the pool relaxing with the wife and dog.
Then off to a local place for dinner. Son's friend was working the host desk.
Rented the beekeeper and watched that till off to bed.

The trench will have grass, will seed once I see some rain in the forecast.
Can't use rock unless they are large, water speed moves anything less that about 5" .
Our roads get covered in rocks where the town tried that in the trenches, what a disaster.
Was kinda fun in the jeep, but any cars were blocked from going anywhere until the town cleaned out the rock garden from the road.

Welcome back Mostly - can't wait to see pictures.

be well,

Scotty, Banbury Mixers bring back memories from my years as a field technician for a company that built machines for checking balance and marking tires to be sent to auto manufacturing plants. Maintenance people would come to assist me after working on the Banbury Mixers. That black dust did not wash off easily. 😵‍💫🤠

Will be interested in how you form the recess.

IMG_4590.jpg

The goal is to have the shower floor 2” below the main floor. That will be filled with wet bed to get the ultimate finished grade towards the drain. The main floor will be 1-1/2” from the top of the form, the shower recess will be the bottom of the form.

Drew, have you checked under bed for pump.
yes, no joy
but I did find it
tech from EQ systems called, said units are installed on frame rails about half way between axles.
no wonder I couldn't find it.
will have to crawl.
I think Dennis had it right.

at least I got good purging instructions and found out where level of oil should be when done

Good Morning Ron,
Maintenance people would come to assist me after working on the Banbury Mixers. That black dust did not wash off easily
Yep, that Lamp Balck was so fine it would get in your pores, and was very difficult to remove! I can’t even imagine how many of those mixers the company sold and also how many different sizes there were ! They made a lot of money at that line of machines !
We also manufactured roll grinders, continuous mixers, sugar cane mills, amongst others ! I worked there a total of 13 1/2 years before branching out into the paper handling business ! First at Automation Machinery and Development and the the last 20 at Pitney Bowes building prototype mailing equipment !

Good morning! Low of 56°, heading to 88°. Sunny, light breezes.

LFN, wow, same temps here in the high desert as you in the great north! I'm sure you are a lot greener and have a lot more trees.....

BIL returned to port in San Francisco Bay this morning. He enjoyed the trip immensely.

Daughter called late yesterday afternoon.... GD had bad abdominal pain. Yep... appendicitis. Surgery was done around 18:00, successful recovery. Should be home later today. Always something.....

Still didn't get the yards mowed. Heading out shortly to get done today. Then another PT session this afternoon. Not sure if its doing any good. Half way through the prescribed amount of sessions.

Everyone have a great day!

Was already 80F with sunny skies @ 10:00, now up to 89F ... feels like 100F ... 🤬

LWS claims the high yesterday hit 95.5F ...

Got plants/seeds on shelves watered first thing yesterday.

Then headed over to friend's to pick up the rest of the poles and chain-link fencing.

That ended up being pretty grueling ... in the sun + 2 rolls of fencing which was all tangled up and had a large multi-flora rose growing up through it ... 🤬

We got it loaded though, I managed to secure the rear doors on the van - which wouldn't close all the way - with a chain and ratchet strap.

Made it back home without incident and parked the van in the shade. Not messing with unloading it.

After that I decided to do some watering since it was in the shade ... :giggle:

One full Buffalo deployed ... split between the north end of the east planting bed, and the south end of the northeast planting bed.

Once that was done I hauled the WB around back to be refilled. May do that later today.

Woman picked up some Walleye yesterday that the local grocery had in their ad and was preparing that for dinner along with onions, squash, and bell peppers season with fresh rosemary.

While She was doing that I spotted 2 of the young woodchucks out back grazing over on the west side.

Grabbed the 12 gauge and carefully removed the screen in one of the master bedroom windows and got the window cranked open enough to get off a shot.

Plugged one of the two @ 20 - 25 yards ... he did not make it back to the burrow.

Threw the pitchfork in the dump cart and headed around back to collect him and then hauled him up to the compost/woodlot for the buzzards.

Dinner was very good, ate all the fish.

After dinner I headed around back and started working on the remain cabbage and broccoli and got all those planted.

I think the total ended up being 30 cabbage and 33 broccoli but I'll need to verify.

Attic fan just kicked on.

I think the only actual plants left at this point (beyond The Woman's herbs) are 8 Long Cayenne peppers and 9 Eggplant.

Have 8 holes left in the 2 rows I used for the cabbage and broccoli ... so one or the other may go there. But that won't happen until late this evening after the area is in shade.

Vertical trellis row with the indeterminate tomatoes is still in shade, will be heading out here in a few to get that soaker hose placed and pinned down and give those a good watering.

Then figure out what to do with the rest of the day.

Hope everyone is having a decent Monday ... (y)

Good Afternoon RS,
Nice shot !
Plugged one of the two @ 20 - 25 yards ... he did not make it back to the burrow.
If they are in the right direction in the field, I can use my Ruger 22/250 if not pointed in the direction of any houses ! Close range the Remington 1100 20 ga works well ! The scoop them up in the bucket and drop them on the south side of the property! The coyotes will take them away overnight !
