38 and froggy. Heading to 52 and maybe a peek at the sun.

Scott, those kids look like they're having a blast, and eating pretty healthy, too.

Fuddy, are you guys feeling better?

Had a nice hike in the mountains yesterday, in and out of clouds most of the time. On one side trail met up with three nice ladies riding horses. Good to see the water flowing well again after the 3 big rains this month...in fact the local weather man said this December has the highest rainfall total since recording began.

Here's the sky at the beginning of hike.

...and a boulder in which I saw something.

Good morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly…)

30.1F going to mid-40s, dry day here but Mrs’ Christmas gift to me this year is shopping for new hunting clothes, so we will be making the trek to BassPro in a little while. It is only 50 miles away, but 99 miles of driving… gotta love life in the mountains 😂🤣😂🤣

Harry is going to Doggie Daycare and then boarding overnight, Mom is coming over to sit with senior dog — Harry is way tooo energetic for mom to handle, whereas Bailey is content to snuggle and get belly rubs all day - smart dog!

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!

That's a long drive, about 500 miles each way. I'm guessing it was the traffic? How much was it the heat, humidity and mosquitoes???
I'm glad you didn't get carjacked or robbed. Were you in the oil field or agriculture there in Ft. Stockton?

Are we relations??? LOL. I'm not native here....been here for 20 years and still feel like the new kid on the block sometimes.

Ron, cute picture, you had a helper steering you in the correct direction....you may not have realized it at the time....just toys for kids are a little different than us.

I'm off the rest of the week.

Been trying to get a stuck wheel off of the riding mower's axle. It is rusted solid. I've put penetrant, put some heat on the end of the shaft until red hot....my 3 point puller has started bending the rim's edge. Also banged on it with a 3lb sledge. Next I will do like Teryldactyl says to heat the crap out of the hub's shaft area, burning off the paint, and then splashing it with a water hose. It's a K46 Tufftorq, bought in 2005. About 500 hours cutting our yard. I'm planning on putting the new spider gears in it, and probably lapping the faces of the motors. We'll see. Don't have a good press here.

I had the same problem with my rototiller. It took about a month of persistent hammering/penetrant/hot-wrenching. What finally got it off was a change in tactics: a 4oz ball pein and a brass drift, and persistent light hammering for about an hour and it started to move… if I had an air hammer I would try using that . Anti-see is your friend, too bad they don’t apply it at the factory!

Looks like I forgot to post this one yesterday...

Good Morning!!!! 64F @ 11:15AM. A mix of clouds and sun. High 66F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Yankee Hill neighbors raise goats, and they have to put up fences around their trees to keep the goats out of them. Never under estimate a hungry goat!

Got the dividing wall in the garage cut loose and moved over about 6" so it's still supporting the mezzanine. Off to HD for some lumber beams, then I can take the wall down. Put the demo saw blade through a piece of Romex along the way, so I'll have to fix that today, too.
I saw on YT that they now make inline Wago connectors, which make repairing lopsided like that MUCH easier!

Good morning Buppies and all, the temperature is 32 and that is the high for today. Wind N 6 mph.
40% chance of drizzle.

My driveway up near the house is a skating rink.
In order to get to the Dodge yesterday I had to go around the side of the house and across the gravel near the shed for the genny and in front of the tractor shed, in order to get to the shelter for the Dodge. Going straight across to the Dodge from the house would have been a prescription for disaster. The ground is NOT level by any stretch of the imagination.
I have a 5 gallon bucket of wood ashes I keep in the Dodge shelter, should've used the one I keep beside the front door.

I got a letter from my company yesterday telling me that I need to pay them $47.47 for the next 5 months for uninterrupted benefits that they never paid out when I replaced my glasses. I never wanted in on that benefit package and they railroaded me into it, zero chance to opt out, I put in a claim for the glasses $513.oo and they didn't pay it and now they want me to pay in advance for the next 5 months BEFORE I get back to work. I think they can shove it where the sun don't shine.

That was my rant for today.

Plans for today? Nothing. Play video games, smoke some knee pain relief.

Have a safe day all

Good Morning Guys,
Vt, 40 with fog and another strange day going to 44 !
..and a boulder in which I saw something.
GM, Wngsprd , I’m thinking a seal ?

Tmrw looks like we could get an inch of snow ! We shall see !

The house is loud this morning ! 😁

Drew, good luck with the foot issues !

Frits, many years ago I broke the tibea pleateau left leg ! A year later they took the hardware out ! Glad they did !

Hope all have a great day ! 🙏

Morning all, 47 going to 53 and the sun is finally up.
Dinner went well last night.

Coffee maker in the apartment died. I got it open and reset the thermal switch. But then only power and no pump/heater. Not used very much as I only got it last year.
Shame the parts would probably cost more than a new one.

Today , may finish the kitchen undercabinet lights since it's too wet still to cut back the ornamental grass. Usually use the 4wheeled barrow to move the grass out back, but it's more than 10 5 foot high loads. But may have to do it that way as the ground is saturated.
When I went to pick up son late last night, the roads were thick fog and lots of puddles. They had to close off part of the road down the hill from me, but easy to get around.

Our New Year's eve party was canceled, friends helping move their son to a new place. Son will celebrate with GF family, so happy about him having a place to go.
Not sure what we will do yet.

Be well,

All that beauty will be gone by evening
Anyway, that's nothing we can manage

Roadtrip was rather challenging. I took that snapshot where I could afford single hand steering. Most of the time driving required 2 hands on the wheel. Made 200 miles only, but rather exhausting

Tesla starts to play jokes. Cruise control does not engage. Service thinks problem is in cameras

Meetings were nice, discussed plans, future investments. Even operative situation is bad

From here below starts my material interest 🤑
One customer of mine is looking to sell in US semi-finished drawer boxes. Birch, nice quantities, plain boards, with groove, lacquered. I am skeptical, as here that is not a thing, almost everybody uses metallic drawers, with hardware for soft-close and push-to-open.
Agent of my guy is claiming that US customers are conservative, you guys like that plain wooden box, no hardware, where wood slides on wood. That applies both to kitchens and wardrobes. Is it so ?
As far as wooden drawers on wood slides;
my thoughts are not very kind on those, they were fine for there day (50's and 60's).
We just finished up most of a project in and on our house here.
All of the kitchen drawers are soft close and self closing sliders. I did find that there are considerable differences in the soft close as far as quality and functioning. The cabinet maker only installed three pull out drawers in our pantry cabinet with light duty soft close slides the 2 addition pull out shelves that I installed have much stronger heavier and smoother operating slides.
We went with drawers in almost all of are lower cabinets in the kitchen instead of swing doors. The heavy duty undermount soft close slides are the better ones that we have the side hung soft close are not as sturdy or stable feeling.
These were all custom Hickory cabinets.

Good Morning!!!! 52F, still in Orcutt, CA. Overcast. High 64F. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph.

Rain coming in tonight, lasting a little longer in Kernville, where I'll spend the weekend with friends. Back on the road New Year's Day for a return to Orcutt.

A buddy of mine has been fighting a bad case of tinnitus for the past year, Drew. Seen all kinds of doctors, had various procedures and treatments. None of them helped much, but he's not done trying. I'm not hopeful anything will help him, but if he finds a miracle, I'll post it.

FWIW, the ten dollar coffee maker I got at WalMart seems to be working just fine still, Ken. But it's been less than a year.

Hit HD for supplies for partition removal, was shocked to see the wire (Romex, etc.) all caged and locked. Even more shocked at the price of 25' of 14-2 Romex: $48.00! They must have shifted to gold wire... The lumber also got a LOT heavier; all of it was wet. Another case of costing more for even less quality.

TGIF gang!

I agree on soft close and self closing is even nicer. Quieter too.

headed out to rake part of the lawn, out by road, caused by storm runoff
hope there is nothing yukky in it
you never know...

65°F and 1.07 inches rain and still coming down.

May not be much of an outside day today. Glad I got done what I did yesterday. New pump is all programed.

Off to Hilotown this morning and Friday Follies. A couple of items on sale at Safeway.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
