Thank you Don! package arrived in reasonably good condition, the couple drops of WD40 and the USPS apes freed up the drill 
the wooden handle is the stiffest turning part at the moment!
the little drill is also sortakinda two-speed, too, as the handle has two mounting positions, a little closer or a little farther out on the ring gear:
I am opting for torque over speed at the moment.
