And then Popgadget almost bought the farm on a motorcycle.

Technically, I got busted up pretty badly on a motorcycle, the hospital that let me go septic is what almost killed me.
However, I had a good full face helmet and leathers, so my injuries were all internal and broken bones.

Man those bike stories make my ankle hurt!
It was probably late April of 1970. I was commuting from University of Vermont to Essex on my "new" Suzuki 250CC. Going through Winooski on RT 15 a lady pulled out from a stop sign. It was raining and I had a bright yellow rain poncho on.
I tried to swerve around her. Didn't make it. I can still remember looking down and seeing her front bumper, my right boot (with foot), and my engine become one.
Flipped me through the air into oncoming traffic, which dodged me.
Might have saved my career.
Went to hospital for weeks, just before exams.
Might have flunked some of them, but Kent State occurred, the campus shut down, exams were put off. It was chaos and professors were lenient and let me take exams later. Which I passed.
Ankle still hurts to this day. Almost kept me out of the Army when I enlisted.
Good Morning Guys,
Our last full day on the beach, and it looks to be another spectacular weather day ! 62 to start going to 81 or 82 !

Newbury,
I had many motorcycles, but the one that sticks in my mind is a 1971 H2-750cc Kawasaki ! Of course thta thing was a rocket ship, as some would say a Rice Rocket ! And of course I had to make it even faster, putting on a tuned expansion chamber exhaust along with some gearing changes and carb mods ! Well out one day with a friend of mine with the same bike, we both got off of I-84 onto a secondary road and I took off at a high rate of speed, went flying by a state police car that was parked on the opposite side of the road. My buddy said the cop saw me and turned his lights on and when seeing how fast I was going turned them back off and didnt bother persuing me ! Well about a 1/3 mile up the road an old man in a dilapitated old station wagon pulled out in front of me ! I somehow managed to swerve around him last minute ! My mother was praying for me that day ! I pulled the bike over to the side of the road, and sat on the guard rail for 15 minutes, just to calm my nerves, from that day on, my need for speed was greatly reduced !

With that thought I would remind everyone to have a blessed and safe day ! 🙏

It is supposed to be 60F going to 70F but I don't think the weather for Deer Isle is very reliable. Anyway It looks like it is going to be a nice day. The tide is way out this morning. These are the low low/high high tide days (full moon). According to the tide chart there is about a 13 foot difference between high and low. Yesterday I could see that the high tide had been up over the 4th step on the stairs down to the beach.

Just before we came up here my wife MacBook Pro started to have screen problems. The internet said it was probably the flex cables but Apple replaces the whole screen. I got a deal at Best Buy for a MacBook Air M1 but she decided to use her old PC until she got the MacBook Pro fixed and she really uses her iPhone for most stuff. So I got the Air. A bit of a learning curve. I use a desktop Mac at home because I like the big screen. I hate updating because I always miss the lost functions. Different hardware, different software. Anyway this little computer is perfect for travel. I think it would do a lot more if I get it set up. The fiberoptic broadband at this house is pretty zippy. The TBN pictures that are slow to load at home pop right up here.

Hope it is a nice day where you are.

Chris

Good morning.
60 going to 80 under partly cloudy skies today.

Yesterday’s weather was about perfect, comfy temps, low humidity, clear sky. My morning flight in the little plane was delightful.
When I got home, I started right in on the Lazer and got all the edges done. Dismounted the loader from the tractor and hooked up the Progressive, made one pass before stopping for lunch. Put DIL on notice that I’d be mowing as soon as I got back if it fit Luca’s schedule.

When I got home hopped right into tractor, help arrived shortly. We got it all mowed, blew the mower off and parked it, fueled the tractor and put it away.
The we hopped on the Lazer and mowed the RC runway. I use the Lazer for that because it’s easy to change the height, and the runway gets mowed a lot shorter than the rest of the field.
Next chore was to move hay from the shed into the barn, then we had to play with Zoe.

While we were with Zoe he heard mowers running at his house (son has landscapers mow, they were there with 3 Lazers).
Luca ( grandson) said we had to “go mow with the guys”, so we got back on the Lazer and he drove it around his place with the landscapers. He was very happy to be driving his own Lazer, and kept waving to the other guys, of course he swerved every time he waved and took his hands off the controls. Still not bad for a 3 year old.
We went back to my place and got some cold drinks for the landscapers and he handed them out from the Carryall. I’d say we had a good day

After he went home, I worked on converting another RC plane to electric power, made some delrin spacers to mount the motor, it worked out pretty well.

Went over to the house, had the last of the leftover strawberry shortcake, and called it a day.
