Good morning!!!!

rain is finally coming down, I can hear it greedily being sucked up.

turned down by five rv campgrounds in Michigan before I found a place that would rent a site for just one night on July 1.
Two places were booked solid.
found a place in South Boardman MI, I'll go there from Ron's home and do my hunting for cherries the next morning on the way to Cedarville, still taking scenic route
on Western side. That finishes up the last details for this trip.

adapter for foam cannon came in, hope to fire that up tomorrow.
first I have a 7:30am breakfast meeting with new member of school board

nice watching it rain

Lol. Seems odd to see you say you're not looking forward to stone. But I figure this will be placed manually rather than hydraulically.
Yeah, unfortunately it will be manual labor. I can get it to the general area, but the actual walkway will get placed by wheelbarrow.

Finished the border trim for the walkway. Then started with some fabric and mulch. Was going fairly good until the wind got pretty breezy.... too hard fighting with the fabric.... it was even ripping out some of the 5" staples holding it down....

A pic of the small area we got done:
IMG_1156.jpeg

Checked on the price of the stone..... just about doubled in cost. At $39 per ton, not going to order a truckload. I'm just going to pick it up on the trailer, 1 1/2 tons per trip. That way I'll save the delivery charge of $85, and get just the amount needed.

We are wore out... time to get showers and a bite to eat.

Woman arrived home safe and sound.

Came home and dropped suitcase off.

Then headed out for dinner at Eadies Fish House to celebrate Her return.

The welcome from the cats was about like you’d expect: not terribly interested … beyond sniffing Her suitcase to see who she’d been visiting.

Picked up more mealworms from Eddie’s for the bluebirds before I went to pick Her up.

Will head out here in a few to take the trash up, will drop off some mealworms when I do.

Hoping not to be contentious, just curious, but

I don’t understand the massive push from ICE to EV. We have had hybrids for a spell. Wouldn’t a sensible approach be to further refine hybrids? Might it be possible to further the technology that a hybrid could almost be self sustaining, maybe 90% or better generating own electric via known technologies like PV, braking, generator, etc? A vehicle that needs next to no external electric source like our currently inadequate grid. We need fossil fuels/petroleum for a great number of other uses, so it is not going away any time soon. I know I’d be open to exploring such an option.

Good (Tuesday) morning. Overnight Low of 3C and it's presently 12.4C. High, light overcast and calm.

A somewhat productive yesterday arvo... Hay round transfer, again to Paddock #6, was straight-forward. The 'Mad Agisting Horse Woman' decided not to do a paddock transfer as it's Winter and the grass, although green, isn't growing all that much. Of course the overnight State Forest Lawn Service (wallabies, pademelons, brush-tailed possums) are doing their job too.

I did get 3 ute-bed loads of wattle branches cleared to the wood pile prior to heading into Church for the meeting.

As it's calm, I'll hopefully carry on with branch clearing before attempting to drop that hanging wattle tree trunk. I also noticed that I need to readjust the gutter on the wood-shed.

That's about it, take care all.

I have owned and driven a hybrid since 2005. Keep in mind that the hybrid system can only recover energy created by burning fuel. All of the energy comes from the ICE, but can be recovered and stored as electricity. You recover energy by capturing excess kinetic energy going down hills or normal braking. My experience is that the friction brakes last a very long time, as they are rarely used.
My next Prius will likely be a plug in hybrid, adding some battery capacity and limited EV range, but maintaining the same hybrid system.
I could add a PV array to supplement or replace the grid supplied power, but in my locale the grid has plenty of capacity.

I haven’t experienced or perceived a push for EV’s, they have very limited availability here. The last time I checked, I couldn’t buy a plug in Prius tomorrow within hundreds of miles of here. Until the supply improves, I am not too interested in paying a premium price either.
But for me a plug in hybrid would check a lot of boxes, where I wouldn’t have much interest in a straight EV.

I think Mr. Toyoda might agree with you.

Coffee is done brewing. 47° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 67° with rain and thunderstorms throughout the day. Did not get any thing done yesterday. Furnace tech came out and replaced induction fan/motor. Original had cracked and caused motor to make a lot of noise. Furnace is only 2 years old. Dr. appointment today. Then off to Sam's club to get nose piece replaced on my glasses. Those 2 items will take most of the day. Still need to move pile of limbs to chipper pile.
Light house keeper seems to spend a lot of time laying down on the job.
