Good morning!!!!

41F and sunny once again @ 10:00, heading up to a high of around 54F for the day with any luck.

Went up and started a fire in the double barrel yesterday first thing to warm it up in the shop.

Then came back down and got slots cut in frame boards for bottom of portable sanding table.

The Woman cooked up some sausage patties along with eggs and toast while I was doing that.

After eating lunch and watching a number of YouTubes on woodworking equipment I headed back up to the shop to start priming the lid for the dust collection barrel.

Moved the barrel off the backstop for the pallet forks which I am using as the painting platform. Paint was still kind of soft, so it's taking a while to harden up with the low temps overnight.

Got 5 or 6 coats of primer laid down on the lid and then headed back down to the house to see what other paint I could find for the lid.

Found several cans of gloss black, plus several additional cans of red that I can use for the drum when I re-coat that in about 5 days.

By the time I got back up to the shop the temp inside was up to 91F and I had to open the door to cool it off so I could spray the topcoat.

Laid down around 5 coats of gloss black and then came back down to the house for dinner which consisted of shrimp with cocktail sauce and a bottle of Old Leg Humper.

Watched the game while eating and then around halftime I headed back up to the shop and laid down one last coat on the lid.

Caught the rest of the game when I came back down. We were rooting for KC so we were pleased with the outcome.

After that I got out the Wahl hair clippers and cut off my facial hair since it had been a couple of weeks since I had last shaved and then headed down and grabbed a shower before turning in a little after 23:00.

Did not get any feeders filled yesterday so that will be on the menu for today. Some of the suet feeders look to be getting low so might have refill those as well.

Amazon order with valve seats and other odds and ends due in today. Somehow a Jorgensen Pony woodworking vise that I've been looking at for several months showed up while I was making up the order at a very significant discount ($37 vs. $59) so I added that to the order as well. Not sure what's up with that but it was listed as a new item not used.

Agenda for rest of the day (beyond getting feeders refilled):

Get folding table in garage taken down and moved up to shop for the big pieces/parts sort out up there.

Remove pallet forks and stick them down in the barn. Maybe move the table top for the woodworking bench over to the garage while I'm at it.

Start another fire in the stove up in the shop to warm things up to aid in the paint drying.

Get panel cut and dry-fitted for bottom of portable sanding table.

Find a couple of small pieces of 3/4 plywood to make up handles for the sanding table and get those glued up.

Finish applying the Danish oil on the last two sides of the top for the router table.

Some more design research/work done.

Hope everyone is having a great Monday ... (y)

50° already. Got .53” rain last night, and got below freezing. Roads icy earlier, they salted. Heard sirens during early morning, at least 1 truck ran into a house.
Got the hdmi extender to work here, on 100 ft cat5e cable. Did not work at church building on 150 ft cat6 cable. Specs say over 200 ft on cat6.

That’s a ridiculous price. Even in Canada. It’s less than $20 in US.
We take your 'less than 20 bux' and add on 35% exchange on the U.S. buck, then add duty + 13% tax, then 17.oo shipping, total all that up and then add another 13% Gouge and Screw Tax. The product itself was $31.34 The exchange and duty is already added into the purchase price, but shipping on top of that and GST on top. Yes, we get hosed on American products coming this way.

daugen, I have a can of CRC here someplace. Couldn't find it so went with the deoxit. I think after I use the deoxit, I will put it in the safe. That way it will never grow legs again.

Good morning to all! Low was 30°, going up to 49° early on in the day, then temps dropping to the 20's and snow expected by mid to late afternoon. Snow overnight ending early. Then more snow forecast for tomorrow night. Amounts are varied.....

Yesterday, felt good almost all day. Wasn't until early evening when the coughing and congestion started to make its presence. Didn't get bad, so maybe turning the corner. This morning, also much better and less in severity.

I actually made it out to the shop yesterday. One of the items remaining on the list was to put new day/night photosensitive cells on the shop's two exterior lights. The original ones were the type that are put in between the socket and the bulb. The lights have down reflecting covers which interfered with the photosensors.

Picked up a couple of these to put on the lights:
Since the son was home, he was able to go up the ladders for me to retrieve the lights. One at 8', the other at 20' high. I stayed planted firmly on the ground. Drilled a 7/16" hole in the mounting base and connected a couple wires in the light. Son reinstalled. Worked perfectly at dusk.

Then topped off the pond with the hose. The feed line off of the drip irrigation was frozen so had to use the hose. Actually a little quicker with the hose. It is surprising how much evaporation occurs. But considering the winter air only has 10-20% humidity, I can see it evaporating quickly.

GS's birthday is this coming Friday. Need to get out to the store today for a couple Lego sets. ..... can never have too many Legos. Picking up an ice cream cake too.

Wifey spoiled me yesterday. She insisted that I have a good breakfast, so she made french toast and bacon. She kept telling me "feed a cold, starve the fever" ---- I told her that I didn't have any fever...... (it was good and I wasn't complaining)
I reciprocated and made bacon, swiss and cheddar burgers on the grill for dinner with a side of beer-battered fries, also cooked on the grill.

Another conserve energy day is in order....

Everyone have a great day!

Good Morning!!!! 52F @ 7:00AM. Sunny. High 64F. SSE winds shifting to W at 10 to 15 mph.
The wind was bouncing between 10 and 20 MPH most of yesterday, keeping the burn pile burning vigorously.

Something in the DeOxIt actually breaks down corrosion, Drew, and leaves a protective and conductive coating behind. The CRC stuff removes oil and dirt and leaves nothing behind. They each have their uses, so choose accordingly.

Neighbor told me his '15 Jetta Diesel gets close to 50 MPH on the highway. Who needs a Prius when a used Jetta is less than half of that? That's one of the VWs that got caught in the Dieselgate scandal. Doesn't seem to have hurt the resale value much, though.

Forced air furnace refused to come on yesterday, until the evening when it started working again. And this morning it's still working. Hard to fix when it's an intermittent problem.

Spent most of yesterday bouncing around on the tractor, feeding the burn pile and getting most of the second wood pile burned. Also learned that what I thought was just one oak tree down turned out to be two, and a third one came down when I tried to get the second tree off of it. I got the original tree cut up and fed to the fire, and now have two more ready to go. Think I'll start a new burn site closer to the next wood pile, and spread the old ashes out to let them cool.

Hoping to get someone out to look at the well today.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start...

62°F an 1.52 inches rain , more in forecast.

Pretty much enjoyed the game. Would have preferred it ended in 35-35 tie. Can’t say I found the half time show entertaining.

semi annual dental appointments this afternoon. Zoom Happy Hour after.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Wife made another amazing chicken dish last night. It is Za'atar spiced chicken thighs. Take bone out. Lay flat skin side down. On the meat side sprinkle with Za'atar spice mix. On a medium hot pan with small amount of olive oil skin side down until skin is crisp. Flip to meat side. Sprinkle skin side with salt and pepper. Leave on low heat until done. Cost is less than a dollar a person

I was happy KC won, but would have been ok if philly won. Was start of 2nd when I got home from church. Couple funny commercials. Halftime wasn’t my cup of tea, but not a stripper show like one time, so just watched a bunch of white things bounce to music and indistinguishable words.
Wife and I made homemade queso from an old recipe. Not as good as I remember, but I ate a lot. Spicy with lot of cumin.

got my errands run, car cleaned, inside too when I got home.
then a load of brush to the woods, blew some leaves out of garden on a nice sunny day.
Felt good to break a sweat.

first load of Amazon stuff came for rv. Guy left his big carry bag/box by front door full of packages.
Something they definitely should not do, more stuff coming tomorrow, will see if next guy takes it back.
