Good morning! -1F now. Was 24F at 4:30 when I added wood to the fire. There is a breeze, but has calmed down considerably from during the night. Haven’t gotten brave enough to go out and check how much snow we got, but doesn’t look like much.

not sure what is on the agenda today. Got the gate fixed at the barn, made smoked Mac & cheese for this weekends get together. Did some other odds and ends.

Everyone stay safe out there!

Wngsprd, the gate is the first defense against theft. Our tractor and tools are in the barn behind the locked gate.
About 1/3 of the garden''s beds were covered. I'll find out in a few days if it made any difference for them, probably not as there is no heat source under the covers.
That's a good plan. My suggestion was to prop the gate open only while you are working there (and until the problem is fixed). Cool that you still have a garden crop of kale growing.

Morning to all;
A nice balmy 50F here at 8AM today, much of the snow has been melted.
It's been breezy out all night, the scanner is busy with tree and line issues.
Looked out and saw a few trees have come down around the yard but they will be fine for now.
Warmer up here this morning then it is down in Texas, a bit unusual.
Supposedly it will be down to 25F by 5PM we shall see.
Not much Christmas spirit here this year, one of my younger brothers had cancer a few years ago,
went through lots of chemo and two stem cell transplants got declared to be in remission.
Then Thanksgiving week he got to feeling poorly and lost the ability to use his legs, went back in and they found
tumors in his spine and brain started chemo and radiation. He came home yesterday under Hospice care,
2 weeks to 2 months to go.
Everyone stay safe and enjoy.

Edited to add this forecast; not as bad as many, but not much we can do but prep for it.

My wife and I watch the old 1954 movie "White Christmas" every year...always fun, and hoping it brings us a snow...we have it on DVD and yesterday evening couldn't get the audio channel to play from the DVD player...it was last used for a yoga music CD a week ago...maybe a setting got bumped...so I tried playing an audio CD while changing the settings...Al Green - Tired of Being Alone came on...we couldn't resist dancing around the room...ended up playing almost the entire CD before switching to the movie.

One song on the CD had also been covered by Savoy Brown...one of my favorite bands while growing up...so I looked it up, only to learn that Kim Simmonds died about a week ago.

Good Morning!!!! 43F @ 5:00AM. Cloudy skies early, followed by partial clearing. Areas of patchy fog. High around 55F. Winds light and variable.
Yesterday started with heavy fog, thick enough to make driving hazardous. I had to run errands in town anyway, and kept one eye on the road in front of me, and the other on the mirror watching for someone coming up from behind too fast. My usual route was blocked by an over turned big rig that tried to make a turn too fast. The bad weather didn't keep folks at home, as they were all out shopping, seemingly after the same things I was.

The radio news yesterday was full of Cyclone Bomb warnings for back east. Frightful weather. Be careful out there...

Covid cases are on the rise again out here, and I was back to masking, sterilizing, and distancing. I saw only a few other oldsters doing the same; no wonder more people are getting sick.

Came home to find a parcel in the delivery box, where it belonged, and another laying in the gravel behind it, soggy with moisture, having been delivered the day before by someone a few bricks shy of a full load. Inside it were two pairs of socks. I'd ordered one pair, which was supposed to have been delivered last week, but that was missing when I opened the parcel. I reported the shortage to Amazon, where someone credited my account for the shortfall, telling me to just reorder. So I did, and someone else there then put two pairs of the same socks in the box. Holiday madness at its best.

If the weather forecast holds I'll light off the burn pile I made earlier and then keep it fed by limbing more downed trees. That'll keep me busy until dark.

TGIF gang!
