Good Morning!!!! 71F @ 5:45AM. Partly cloudy. High 97F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Glad to see the auger working out so well, Paul. The down force attachment I made for my rear mount did help with the rocks here, but it also cracked a couple of the welds. And it's a royal PITA to get the auger on and off the tractor. If I ever get a large fencing job, I'll make the switch to a setup like yours...

No word from my contractor buddy on the trenching for today, so I guess I'll just be standing by waiting to see what happens.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

73° right now....high in the mid-80's

not sure what I'll get into today. Wife and stepdaughter are going to one of their kin's bridal shower, so that'll leave me and Margeaux

Morning all, going up to 89 today.
Got some more weeds down, the stiltgrass is up to about 2 feet at the edge of the woods.
I will need to go get the sprayer filled to get these to stop growing before they seed.

put in about 6 hours doing cleanup, leaf grinding, weed wacking, tree moving...

Today it's dog wash and maybe start putting the apartment back together for my dad's arrival Tuesday.

Humidity is back, calling for more rain tonight, so that will save me some watering time.

I have been using a spool of .095 Oregon square. A 20' section lasts me many hours. The old orange and green .095 would shred, this stuff doesn't.

Stay safe and be well,

I have had this power washer for 5 years, it was around $80. cleaned the whole pool deck and lower deck this year and still going strong. I don't use any chemicals or cleaners.

72F and supposedly "partly cloudy" @ 10:45, but I'm surely not seeing much sun here. Heading up to a high of around 82F - 84F depending on who you're listening to.

Got rest of watering done on planting bed in second circle last evening, still some water in the Buffalo.

After that I got the lumber for the new frame for the soil screener taken up to the shop and got one side of it laid out and marked up to drill the holes.

While I was doing that, neighbor dropped by with his tri-axle roll off truck with another load of manure. Think he said it was a 20 yard container, took 17 bucketloads with his TL 870 to fill it which has a 84 inch bucket:

IMG_1910 copy.jpg

Said he figures there's probably another two loads (at least ?)

Just texted with him and he said he'll be down in a bit with another one.

While all that was happening, The Woman arrived with chow so I headed down to the house to eat after he left.

Then after dinner I went out and harvested squash before closing things down for the day and locking up. Yesterday's haul (including what got mauled by critters which will go up in the compost pile):

IMG_1912 copy.jpg

Not sure what all will be on the agenda for today.

Will probably slide over to HD though at some point and pick up another PT GC 2 x 4 x 10 for the soil screener frame (it's closer than Menards)

They are calling for rain tomorrow (70% chance) so probably get the mowing done down here around the house.

Refuel Kubota.

Possibly do a little clean up and stacking of the manure that was dropped off yesterday.

Beyond that, see what comes up.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday ... (y)

Good morning to all! Low of 61°, headed for a high of 82°. Chances of T-storms still good. Probably less chances today, no cloud cover this morning.

I will keep an eye out for the Oregon trimmer line. Might have to go to a specialty lawn a garden shop or on-line....I haven't seen it locally. Maybe HD?
I have good success with 'Gator titanium twisted', not really sharp, but doesn't break easily. I like the square because it has 4 cutting edges.

PopG, nice auger! I was looking at those a few years ago. Like the idea of full down pressure and being reversible. I couldn't justify the cost for the few posts that were initially planned.... I should have gotten it instead of the normal PHD.

Roy, you got abandoned.... again.... ENJOY!

RNG, hope your buddy shows up. I was wondering how your 'down pressure' set up worked... or not. I don't want to break welds....

Bird, nice that you got a good amount of rain. This drought has to break soon. The entire SW is really dry.

I might try to get those big planters filled today.... I need some seat time.
Need to clean the weed wacker and get it ready for next time. The garden tractor blades need sharpened, so that's on the list too.

I have been contemplating cutting the fields, they are slowly growing, but I am liking the green. I'm afraid if I cut them, then the rain showers go away, they will turn super brown....

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

66°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 82° today. We got a little rain in the early morning hours, but it was done well before we got up at 06:00. Going to be in the 90s again this week until we get some rain on Thursday to cool us back into the 80s.

Yesterday's plans for studio time were cut short when The Wife came home with a new movie, so I shut everything down and watched a couple with her. Can't complain about some couch time with her.

Mostly, the puppy will stay with us until someone adopts her. Sometimes that's fairly quick, sometimes not. Puppies usually go pretty fast. A few years ago, we had an older dog for almost six months. This one's a little cutie, so I don't expect she'll be here long.

The son that was helping is a mechanical engineer that recently moved out, and has no tools of his own, which is a frustration to him, having grown up with almost any tool he could need at his disposal. I gave him a HF suitcase sized tool set for Christmas, and yesterday I saw that Amazon had a Makita set of 18v LXT drill, impact driver, circular saw, charger and 2 batteries for $279. I couldn’t resist it, he’s getting an early birthday present.
I'd call that a fortunate son. I started building my tool kit from paperboy earnings, and haven' stopped. I even buy some at Harbor Freight, but this round of testing shows that there are much better choices, including Snap-On...

my friend who spent last week in hospital emailed me, both he and wife are sneezing away, alligator bit.
Sigh. So of course I tested, negative, and have zero symptoms. Fingers crossed, will test again tomorrow.
His wife thought she was being ok not wearing her mask in husband's hospital room....needless to say I never took mine off.
but had to notify three other people I have seen recently, including my dinner companion last night.

90 out with rain coming in after dinner time.
making spaghetti sauce for rigatoni tonight, house smells good

My lesson went well today, so got feet up this afternoon. Went to different restaurant for lunch with a different set of people from church. We don’t usually go to this one because it is very small. We were fortunate to be able to pull a couple tables to fit 11.

Hotdogs after service tonight.

80° and overcast. Got trash to curb already. Got more bags filled than I set out. Been filling up extra bags cleaning up around the house. Havent made a noticeable dent yet.

Calling for rain soon.

Hope your son's stay at the Dave and Sophie castle is a good one.

We had roast beef, rice, gravy and green beans. Dog got some scraps and is taking a nap with the wifey.

Still hot. Bird, I was looking back, we only had .07" of rain in the month of July, a little over 1" the month of June.

One guy said the cracks in the ground are God's way of aerating the soil. He said a cotton farmer told him that after the drought of 2011, he had a record crop in 2012.

Ranchers are sweating it. Ponds are low. Fields are brown. Plenty of hay on large trailers coming south through our town. This will sure put the small time ranchers on the sidelines, unless they have deep pockets to buy $$$ hay. Hay is over double normal price.

Church was good. Our old pastor came back and gave us a sermon after 5 years away. My Sunday school class watched part of the first episode of "The Chosen" series. Good series for a low budget. Turn on the captions.

PJS, my guess is your boss will be sad to hear it, if you turn in your notice. Why won't they move the shop to a safer location? I dream about having a short commute. Listen to audio books to pass the time on my drive. My new job is a keeper, benefits wise. I have stairs to climb, to get up to my office, and they are taking a toll on my knees. May need to move my office downstairs to the Renishaw AM400 room. Nice and air conditioned down to 70 when all the units are working. I may have just found a new helper/worker at church. Hope I can get him hired in time for Aug 16th mid month.

My old company hired a new guy, a bit younger than me. I guess he's making less enough than I did, they decided to buy a new cnc mill (which I've been telling them they've needed for about 5 years). Or maybe they didn't want the new guy to quit after he finds out he needs a better mill to make parts larger than 12" x 12"

Do you use one of those rotary spray "surface cleaners" like in this link?
Those made a big difference for me. But being the cheapskate I am, I waited for years to buy one on sale.

Good Day All,

sounds like everyone is busy with the yard work that I should also be doing.

i did a lot of bookkeeping / office work yesterday (Sat)

had lunch with my sister after church today. she lives 6 hrs away, but was in the area. nice to see her and have a chat. she's concerned about my / marriage situation ... still waiting for my wife to be well enough to drive the 8 hrs home from up north where she has been assisting her father.

Popgadget - I'm hoping that I can find a similar post hole auger that can attach to the front of my Kubota BX23S. I have yet to see that set up.

Good (Monday) morning. Another very mild overnight Low of 9.4C. It's windy and the cloud cover has dissipated but not until 5.5mm of rain accumulated in the gauge. It's currently 14.2C but the wind chill knocks that down to around 11C.

It's a dhobi day.

Take care all.

Scaredy, here is one perfect for your tractor:

They are about $3200 USD, so pretty pricey! Need to do a lot of holes for that price!
