For those grilling vegetables and fruits on this holiday weekend I found this site to be a very good source on how to do it without oil.

Bumper potato crop this year in my organic raised bed garden.
First pic- 13 potatoes on one plant
2nd pic- pulling for the past 3 weeks and the final harvest this morning yielded over 300 potatoes.
3rd pic - potatoes washed and drying in the bed of the truck.
4th pic- 1st batch of vinegar potato chips -dehydrated no oil.

Planted President’s day harvest Memorial weekend only 1 plant had rotten potatoes- so I left them in the max amount of time before the Texas heat.

Kyle, great piece, thanks for sharing. Hopefully anyone so inclined will resist turning this into a mandatory exercise, but many others will borrow it.

Also brought back memories from when I commanded an Army Basic Training Company. Periodically I would pull in a member of each platoon for a sensing session, a combination of open discussion and written comments/questions. The discussions were hardly revealing, but the freely written comments were. I felt it allowed me a bit of insight to things I might not see. Total anonymity as best I could. At one point a concern was raised that I took to my battalion commander. When I explained the reason for my concern he immediately wanted more info on my sessions, which I gladly shared. Then he said I needed to send the written comments to him following my sessions. I refused as it violated the conditions I set up to produce them, that any comment was just 1 on 1 between me and whoever wrote it. When he became insistent I told him I wouldn’t hold any more as it violated that trust. He agreed. Fortunately he agreed. Not only were the sessions enlightening, sometimes quite entertaining. Laughter is always good.

Dump run is done, so is mowing
Didn't get to weed trimming though
Then the wind came up, pretty strong for 15-25 minutes...and some light rain. It was beautiful when I was mowing, but there are thunderstorms predicted for the afternoon

One thing I wanted to do was rig the chipper. I have an ingrown toenail on my left foot and a broken toe on my right foot...it was just to painful to rig the chipper. Maybe tomorrow...

Thanks for the grilling link, Don.
If anyone hasn’t grilled fresh pineapple, try it. Awesome

geez Roy, don't you think a chipper is a bit much for an ingrown toe nail?

I guess that's one way of eliminating the nail. Just don't push it in too far...............;)

made a nice lunch salad out of fresh lettuce I picked. Most of the lettuce I picked is soft and limp and I don't like it; nor do my neighbors.
I did get one modestly firm head of lettuce and carefully put that in a ziplock in the fridge.

first they said showers. Then no showers. Now back to showers later, maybe
Going out to wash the car, sure fire way to make it rain

Kyle very sorry for your loss, prayers for your family.
Also thank you for posting that piece, I passed it along to my niece who teaches learning challenged kids in an inner city school system.

64° now was 76° 45 min. ago, some thunder boomers coming through with a nice steady rain. May get heavier boomers around supper time according to the weather radar, we can use the rain.

Did a dump run this morning then headed to pick up my oldest sister and head to the cemetery. My other sister called and said she wasn't feeling well and to go without her. The cemetery looked nice lots of flowers and flags. Stopped for a quick lunch and headed home. Very little traffic which was nice.

I was actually planning to go to a podiatrist for the feet problems...don't think I'm quite coordinated enough to use the chipper.
Actually have an appointment, but it's not until mid-July

No rain, except sprinkles...more would have been better

Watching the 1948 version of "Hamlet" while having soup....great movie, good soup!!
