Good morning!!!!

Evening all, nice day in the 60's but cloudy.

Got the mower deck all fixed up and welded.
Kinda funny as last year my wife found a big chunk of metal in the field.
Ends up it is one of the hangers for the deck.
Some more welding and now the deck sits straight! Got the hanger on and aligned just right. First try.
But my welds still look awful

Got the hitch on the tractor and finished moving the splitter to a new location out of the mud to a dryer area.

More trees came, so tomorrow do some hole digging and some raking and put down some mulch.
So much to do.

Went to FP Kolbe garden center in point pleasant-drove right past Drews house but didn't see him around.
Bought a planter that looks like the one the wife wanted, her real one was $1000, this fiberglass one $149.

L4N - our condolences. what a long ride to the end for your family and DIL.

Used the lawn tractor to pull the aerator across the lawns. I just realized I have had it for 5 years. Still in great shape and it paid for itself first time I used it.

Stay safe and be well,

Spent some time on the deck with the doggie, then off to the ballgame where I had a great couple of hours with my daughter one on one while watching the game. Then I came home and tended to Gracie, then off to the cruise in where we raised over $1500 for the local Humane society. All in all, a great day.

Good evening all. 68ºF for the start, overcast, windy. Windy all day, overcast all day, and high temp was 79ºF, DP 62ºF. Plan A was to ride 60 mile route at Muenster, but with wind 24-35 (head wind to start), by the time we got to point where 40 mile route branched off, we decider to take the shorter ride and end with tail wind. Even so, wind penalty added almost 10 mile of effort. Stopped off at the fest for beer and a brat, tried to find one the BBQer we know in the competition, but could not find him. Dinner at Mexican restaurant with wife and Step Daughter

48 and some sun, going to 82.

L4N, sorry about your DIL...sounds like she's been struggling.

BEF, enjoy your day with the "girls" 😁 . Nice Bluebird on your deck...I often sing to ours..."Zippity doo-dah...Mr Bluebird's on my shoulder."

LS, hope the wind dies down. Doesn't sound like fun.

Kyle, nice geo description of such a great state. I'm up for the Tex-Mex.

Thomas, when it starts getting warm, I lose my love for chainsaws. Be careful.

I transplanted a couple of hydrangeas for my wife, finished up getting the garden ready for tilling, and changed out the 3 blades on my mower. Decided to do a test mow, and ended up mowing the whole yard...but did hear a new sound from the mower deck...occasional, like a stick was stuck in the belt area...did find one, but still heard the noise once after that. Ran out of time but will crank it up and look under the deck today...having the lift kit really makes it easy to raise the front end.
Thank you, it's a big state. huge infact. I'm still in awe of your intense hiking stamina. Glad you're well enough to do that stuff.

TEXAS REAL ESTATE: If you want near a city that is a decent city, it seems land has gone up as much as 300-400%. A small decent 10 acre parcel, pretty much in the middle of nowhere (about 20 minutes from our small town of 4800. 45 minutes to a town with hospital), no major improvements except looks reasonably cleared with grass planted. A couple of cows on it. They are asking $279,000. I'm flabbergasted. Holy Toledo Batman!

Here's a link to recent sales on a local website:

Another friend has 51 acres about 30 miles east of Austin, and about 15 miles south of the new Samsung plant near Taylor. His county appraisal went up 300% He has been working on clearing it for 3 years now. It was in pitiful shape when he bought it, and he's the one with the big track steer now and tractor to work on it. Good thing it is agriculturally based for taxes. They are cheeeep. He's still going to fight the valuation.

I spent some quality time with the daughter in the garden this evening. She planted some bush green beans, and then we planted some sprouted watermelon and super tiny thin baby asparagus. Not sure if the asparagus will survive the transplanting. We already have some dime sized baby green tomatoes. 1 of the 12 tomato plants, looks super wilted, and looks like it will probably die. Not sure what happened. They are no longer covered with knat like fungus flies. They are all in 1 line, and it's maybe #9 of 12. ??? Hope the rest don't kick the can.

Went grocery shopping. It doesn't take much to spend $200 at the grocery store, and that's very little meat in the basket. My coffee is up to about $10/lb.

Did I mention I cleaned out the mud dauber nests from inside the Lincoln AC tombstone stick welder? I decided to wrap it in a plastic garbage bag to try and deter mud daubers. My friend hangs up some sticky yellow strips, that attract flies and mud daubers. The strips he buys at a Coop, are about 18" long, 2" wide. Once they land, they are stuck. I need some of them. I will try the smaller ones on Amazon for 12.99

Still very windy out of the south. Hopefully rain coming Monday. We need it.

RNG, does all your power go thru the batteries? How far is battery closet from house? I know this, from a totally different situation for automotive electrical systems, they have "stuff" in the system to "cushion" the surges/draws of current, so as to not "slam" the alternator. Your energy starts out as DC but gets converted at an inverter, then is part of it siphoned off to charge the batteries correct? But I couldn't carry an electrical guru's tools around for them....with my pea brained knowledge of such things.

Prayers for our team, our country, and for Ukraine.

Wagtail, sounds like a very special service. I know Gallipoli was a fiasco for Churchill. 250K casualties on each side.

Good late afternoon. Another cool morning at 3C and warmed up to 19C... cloudless sunny day with a gentle breeze. The "Liars" (BoM) say that it should be 7C tomorrow morning and another repeat of today. Cross fingers.

Not much else on for a Sunday although I did swap my Aussie flag for the Aussie White Ensign for tomorrow.

To bed early (depending on when the cat comes in 🙂 ) for an early start.

Take care all!
