BEF , you should. Your family history is amazing and would make a great book.
Great way to integrate pictures with the history and our cousin include family tree diagrams.
Just doing it for the family makes sure the past is in their hands and can be a living document like they used to do with family bibles.

31 outside and quite breezy this AM. Just came in from the morning chores. It's a mud/ice bog out in the fields.

Rich, sorry about the cat. Always tough with pets.

Hope all have a great weekend. Need to do something different these next few days.

Always interested in those family ties. If you have a chance in your life to trace back your family tree you should take it. Not only for yourself, but for others that come around in the later generations. So much is lost from one generation to the next.

I myself, sadly can only go back to my father. All history and most/if not all of his side was killed during WWII. He managed to get to the United States right before the US entered the war. As an orphan. Or so he thought.

Family history is important.

Be safe today. Take it easy working outside.

I track genealogy for my family in a giant spreadsheet. I have a TBN thread Life on the farm, where I’ve been putting some of the stories.
I haven’t decided the format yet.
We have a family FB page where I share some of it.

My wife’s family tree is already in a book, the Lincoln’s of Virginia.

Good morning to all! The low was 6°, 21° at 0900, maybe reach a high of 36°. Sunny, clear skies, no wind.... what more could anyone ask for?... oh yeah---- 74° and the beach....

Rich, sorry to hear about the kitty.... always hard to say goodbye.

Ken, always interesting to find about past family. I can only trace back to my great grandparents..... beyond that is a true mystery. We spent years trying to find / make a family tree.

Hope you guys down in Tx were unscathed during the cold. I didn't think Tx was supposed to get cold. But, David has snow in Hawaii......(high up, but it's still there).

There was another thread this morning about an English farmer that pushed a trespasser's car off his property with a tractor.....Eric, I instantly thought of you.....
At least there is some justice out there....

I'm gonna have to do some research on old laws from the old west..... there's a few things I would like to do......😲😬

Today's agenda will be trouble shooting the power out to the shop. Yesterday evening, the power was off... every breaker was good in the sub panel... the main disconnect breaker at the meterbase was tripped (60 amp 220v). It won't reset, instantly trips. Not going to be easy to find the fault. The wire has been in the ground for 28 years... not that it should be worn out, but maybe moisture now found a way in? It's not in any conduit, so could have been damaged?

Everyone have a great day and weekend!

66°F and .54 inches rain.

The grilled Porterhouse and air fryer potatoes were excellent.

Slow progress continues in caretaker. Decided to rerun electrical for exterior light to take advantage of a sensor light. The kitchen faucet finally arrived.

Guys won at H&F.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

BEF,
Just take the snippets from the thread and get them into a word doc for now.
Then create a timeline and outline and order them.
This will show you the blank areas to be filled in since you already have so much documented.

The Wayland book? $$$$

I think a more up to date book on your family is called for. So much history intertwined with the USA through the ages. I hope you get the time to create this.

All history and most/if not all of his side was killed during WWII.

Me too. I traced father's side back, pretty grim. At least ten members of family went into Belzec gas chamber
in 1942 and sure didn't come out. Wiped out the whole family.
Mother's side goes back to Miles Standish.

I found out my far off relatives were packed into the same train cars my grandfather loaded cattle in to 45 years before as a child.
He came over in 1901 or maybe I wouldn't be here.
it was less than a full day ride to Belzec, I've plotted the train tracks. There were no overnight accommodations at Belzec.
I just can't imagine and don't want to.

My grandfather loved pictures and we have lots of old ones in the family.

Rich, such an emotional decision. Fortunate though we can choose what is best for them.

Thanks for the link. My FIL is buried in the cemetery above where the Lincoln Inn once stood, and that is where we are to be buried. Those are my wife’s relatives talked about. My wife thinks she went to school with this guy’s son (Stone).

This is the Lincoln homestead talked about in the article, built by Jacob Lincoln around 1800.
20200612_182104__VA_Rt42_JacobLincolnHouse_SMALL.jpeg
. It was willed to Bridgewater college, now I see the connection. My wife’s 5G grandfather. The Lincoln cemetery shown in the article is behind this house. VA John Lincoln, his father lived in the property to the north. Jacobs son David (4G GF) owned the Lincoln Inn in Lacey springs which is close also.
David’s son Jacob (3G GF) owned a mill in Lacey springs, now a house. We have furniture from Jacobs son Harvey Lincoln’s (GG GF)house that was near the mill. My FIL owned that house until about 10 yrs ago.

The article said there was one remaining Lincoln in the area, would probably have been my FIL, but I think there are still some other relatives around.

And I do have the thread info in a word document. 37 pages worth.

Edit, I was a bit behind, now 60 pages. Lol
