34 outside this AM. Heading to lower 40's. Another Winter Storm watch has posted and like wngsprd said, anywhere from 1 to 4 inches are on the way. Hope it will not be as heavy as this last one. I have a lot of branches still in the trees that are split and hung up.

Prayers for David, Kyle and Looking4new.

Hope all have a good day, be safe.

31 going to 43. 2 to 4 inches more snow forecast tonight.

Hooray! We are back among the civilized...power was restored at 3AM...we got up and celebrated...by turning on the water at the sink and watching in amazement as water came out and we could wash our hands instead of using those stinky sanitizing wipes. I've got a shower and a shave in my plans today.🚿🚰

More prayers for your mom, Kyle.

Buppies and LS, safe travels.
Good! Time to prepare for tonight!

Just read thru the last few days. Power still out here. Crazy amount of damage to trees. Took 4 hours to shovel driveway Monday afternoon. We drive to our farm and got generator and a load of firewood. I went back Tuesday and got another load of wood. This house has an open fireplace. Keeps you warm if you are sitting in front of it but horribly inefficient and just eats tons of wood.

As for the Sips house. We were working in the house build Sunday and had a fire in woodstove. When I went up there Monday, the house was 59 degrees. tuesday, when I went, the outside temps were low 20’s. House was 56. That was literally warmer than I was able to get this rental with burning fireplace and generator running space heater intermittently.

Good Morning!!!! 48F @ 5:00AM. Cloudy skies early, followed by partial clearing. High 54F. Winds light and variable.
Only rain in the 10-day is Friday, so it looks like we're headed back into a dry spell.

Hate to admit it, Billy, but in years past I've Jerry rigged a back feed into a subpanel from the Honda generator to run the well pumps. PITA to use, but much better than going without water, and much less expensive than installing a transfer switch and much, much, much less expensive than installing a solar power system. Just have to remember to ALWAYS open the main breaker to the grid before doing anything else with the hook up.

Where you gonna keep the new trailer, Drew? I keep meaning to repaint my 5x8 each summer, and after failing for several years, it's all a pretty much uniform rust brown now. All from being stored outside, and being painted originally with inferior paint.

Maybe it's just me, but I could do without the conflict inspired by the more controversial topics in my Good Morning feed. Plenty of other online places to get that if I want it.

That photo is just about life size for a Junko, isn't it, Ron?

Got some paperwork done yesterday morning, and by then the sun was out so it was time to start back in on chopping up the downed trees. First two were smaller and came off the pile pretty easy, but after lunch I had to cut a bigger one into sections before I had enough traction to drag it up the muddy hill. Kinda fun going sideways on the tractor, very slowly, though. Now I have a pile of slash large enough to burn again, and the start of another one to feed it once it's going. And that little Makita electric saw is still going strong, but with a good Stihl chain to replace the crappy one it came with.

Almost forgot, there's finally enough water in Lake Oroville to resume power generation at the Hyatt Power Plant in the dam. But only one of the six generators went back online, as they're trying to save as much water as possible for next summer.

Need to make a town run today, but with CV19 admissions going up again, going to be extra careful to mask, sanitize, and distance at each stop. Even though I'll be one of the few doing so, which helps explain the increasing numbers.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Morning all, Grey 30 and looking like snow tonight
Plow is on tractor, snowblower tested and working.

Don - bear with it the results are the goal.
Kyle - hope things work out for your mom. I have multiple stents and that was not complex for them to do nowadays.
LS- don;t forget to turn the oven off before you leave :)
Buppies - just drive easy and arrive safe
L4N - rough news on DIL but supporting stepson going forward is wonderful.
Drew - looks like a nice trailer
Woodchuck-sounds like you need one of those pipe/fan inserts for Fireplace. I keep trying to talk my wife into one, but she does not like the looks, though we could save a lot on oil if we got one.

Stay safe and be well,

A quick way to gauge is if the hospital has an intensive care unit.
Also consider the size of the ICU and current conditions.
In my future retirement area the nearest good ICU is 40 miles away, with 38 beds. However due to C19 it's been FULL and overfull since about July.
icu-beds.jpg

That is delaying my return to Mississippi. SWMBO has been to ICU's and I don't want to venture where people are routinely being turned away. I'm currently in Northern Virginia where ICU beds are at 73% capacity and people are not being turned away.
He did not report any Tesla or other vehicles on side of road. They took him off I-95 and onto US-1. Road was clear. But not moving. Seemed like he moved to another traffic light every 1/2 hour. Someone had to be at the wheel to do the move. He runs a team. So there are 2 people in truck.
Unfortunately that is common on I95, it's an artery that dumps a lot of traffic. I've been in several massive northern Virginia/I95 traffic jams. The local roads are not enough to bypass the "clog" and this event was up to a 50 mile clog.

Good Morning.
It’s 32 this morning and not going up more than a few degrees today. Looks like a decent day with snow overnight. The prognosticators have threatened us with snow before, only to be empty threats.

Yesterday went by pretty quickly, did a batch of farm chores, some time in the shop, filling the trash cans for tonight’s test of the improved trash can moving system. Made a trip to Tractor supply, less than 10 minutes away for some hardware and then it was dinner time.

Today will be a repeat, but I’ve got a doctor appointment, he wants to see how the shingles are doing. Appointment is for 1:15 which breaks up the day, making it harder to dive into anything. I’m ready for snow if we actually get it. Driveway is well marked and tractor is backed into shop with snow blade and rear weight box mounted. It’s on a battery minder and shop is heated. So that means no snow, which is actually fine with me.

The shaving cream discussion made me realize that I have not shaved in over 50 years. It’s a ritual that I don’t miss.

Looking at Ken’s travel pictures makes me think that I should dig out some of mine, but I’m not the international traveler that Ken is. Other than Canada and the Caribbean, I have done all domestic travel, but perhaps often with a different perspective. This is what it looks like going into Aspen in the winter time. If you look hard enough, you will see a runway.
