72 and feels good, but gonna get hot...95 and the weather folks are warning of hazardous heat advisory.

Thomas, hope the gout eases quickly...there was a thread here on Rural Living recently on choosing work boots...do you already have a favorite?

Buppies, looks like a pretty good rain came through the state, but we both missed our share. :( Diesel yesterday was $2.69, but is was off road...kerosene was $3.59...I didn't realize it was so much higher...gas was $3.

Got a couple of hours on the tractor for the first time in two months yesterday. Bush hogged a field that I usually plant buckwheat or sunflowers. If I can kill the weeds in time, will plant crimson clover for winter/spring.

Mowed my hiking/walking path here with the zero turn just in case I picked up the seed ticks on it...but I really think I got them in the mountains on a weedy section.

The Carolina wrens fledged Monday just before the beekeeper came, but the runt stayed on the porch...the parents still come and feed it, but this morning a second chick followed mama back and now we have two chicks. They see the parents on the other side of the screen, but haven't figured how to follow them out the open doorway...may have to gave them a hand.

Forgot to mention that the Perseids meteor shower peaks tonight, and continues for several more days...can be a fun show.

Good morning
It’s 70 and going to a steamy 90 today.

Yesterday started with a delightful breakfast at a place in Doylestown that I had never been to.

Did a little bit of speaker work, my buddy bought a ripper tooth for his excavator, and it interfered with the thumb, he marked it where it needed to be relieved, and I made the cuts for him with a torch. Then he helped me change the 200w LED flood light that lights up the parking area in front of my shop. Only half of the old one was lighting up.
Next chore was to mow, my helper was down for a nap, so I had to do it myself, or least as much as I could before the thunderstorm. I’ll try to plan mowing the rest around nap time.
Just got a call from a friend to meet him for breakfast, so I’m going to get going. We’ll eat right by the FedEx pickup place that was closed 2 hours early yesterday when I tried to pick up my package. Hopefully they don’t open 2hours late as well.

Sent rv pics and info to three siblings and three friends yesterday and all 6 told me not to buy the rv, not to go out there by myself at my age
and health, and to do something more at home. Ok...Nothing I didn't already know but sometimes it helps being confirmed by others.
You've already hinted at finding a traveling partner, Drew, so get that taken care of, and if the MH is still available, you're all set. If not, there's sure to be another one out there that'll work just fine. Just hate to see you give up on one of your dreams...

Good Morning!!!! 79F @ 6:00AM. Abundant sunshine. Hot. High 106F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Spent most of yesterday moving a security camera from the pump house to the shipping container so it had a better shot of the driveway and incoming/exiting vehicles. That required drilling some holes in the shipping container, and that steel is some tough stuff! Especially the lifting eyes at the upper corners, and those two holes had to be tapped as well. Left me even more impressed with what you've done on your caretaker's quarters, David!

Before that I used a mattock to get the trench for the Ethernet cable over to the container, and before I could do that I had to fix the head on the mattock so it wouldn't fly off the handle. There was this plastic housing that fit inside the hole in the head, and the wood handle fit inside the plastic piece. But the hole in the plastic piece was straight through, and there was no taper on the wood handle, so I don't know what was holding it in to begin with. I ended up slitting the handle and driving in three drywall screws to spread it. Seemed to work fine, but I don't think i'll be buying another handle like that.

Still no sign of Stubby the lizard while I was cooling off with a margarita on the back porch last night. I haven't found a body, and I'm thinkin' he probably got carried off by one of the jays. He was fond of climbing to the top of a rock or stump and doing his pushup thing, probably not the best idea he ever had, but it might have been his last.

Wednesday already! Happy Hump Day!

77°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 97° today. Pretty much exactly the same for tomorrow, then we cool back down into the 80s for the weekend. Storms that pushed through the area yesterday afternoon dropped the temps by 20°. I didn't hate that.

Oldest stepson is in town from Texas for his birthday this Saturday. Came over to the house yesterday and spent the day with his Mother, which she loves. He did some shooting out in the pasture while he was here. After dinner, while we were all sitting around the table talking, he decided he would clean his guns. That spurred a conversation about guns (and more than a few entertaining stories from his time in Iraq and Kuwait), and before I knew it, the entire table was covered various firearms of his, his brother's, and mine. Lots of guns. Wife was just sitting there shaking her head with that "boys and their toys" look.

Morning all, sunny now after last nights big storm passed through with <.5 inches of rain.
Had me tree guy out here with a cherry picker yesterday to take down a few more dead Ash that are in with some Maples and Poplars. I know when to hire someone who has the tools and knowledge, and me climbing trees just won't happen.

Made a big batch of tomato sauce for dinner last night using a bunch of tomatoes from my garden and from Drew.
Good stuff, been a while since I made my own sauce.

Found out the head of our planning/permit team for the town passed away a few days ago. While he and I got off to a rough start, we formed a good working relationship and he was super helpful and fair. RIP Dave.

Randy - tire $ = ouch
Thomas - gout no fun- hope this goes away soon

RIP stubby?

Stay safe and be well.
Tree guys kid is sick- never fun- so no visit today.

Some nice Alfas there Ken. On the grounds of the high school I graduated from...
I've seen some interesting cars go by lately, including a Shelby Cobra like the blue one in the pic that went by me this morning
making all kinds of nice noises. I think folks are getting their cars out and getting them ready.
I'm going to the Show with my brother, not sure of which day, likely Sat.

Finished PT, then went for a walk all the way around Laurel Park across the street from me, and now back home wondering what to do inside this
afternoon cuz sure not going out in the next couple of day's heat wave.

<snip?
And I can admit my normal "I can do anything" approach is tempered a bit by almost dying last year. Rattles one's confidence...
<snip>
Well all evidence points to the fact that you DIDN'T die.
We older people need to "know when to hold them, know when to fold them,
know when to walk away and know when to run".
I've lost capabilities I had for decades. About 2 years ago I went to swing off a roof onto a ladder that only extended one rung above the roof. Couldn't do it. Now I need 2 rungs above the roof.
Take it easy and like
You've already hinted at finding a traveling partner, Drew, so get that taken care of,
wrote get the traveling partner, compatible models are difficult to find.
