between fire ants and Africanized honey bees, there are some seriously nasty bugs out there
Too bad one doesn't eat the other...

took my first shower in days, that sure felt good, but got my bandages a little wet so no shirt for awhile until I dry.

Good morning, low is 44 and the forecast high will be 34°F. Wind NNW 12 gusting to 20 mph. Rain or snow showers today.
I copied this off environment Canadas' website, like I normally do.

It rained all night, the gravel job flattened out some. After I get back from North Bay I will swap the bucket for the stone bucket and rake the fresh gravel and get the rest of the big rocks out of it.

Have a safe day all

be careful when you mow Texans. 70 year old man died from stings due to Africanized honey bees yesterday
and look what sets them off:
Especially when you are dealing with that species of honeybee, absolutely, the vibration of a lawnmower,
the vibration of a weed eater, kids banging or stomping around close by -- they will get defensive."
That is scary!!

Sunny 63 going to 74 and Red Flag warnings are posted since winds up to 34...already very windy when I went outside to do chores this morning.

Prayers said for your son and family Stepp.

Mowed for a few hours yesterday...looks good, but pollen is so thick we need a good rain to wash it in.

Got a good scare by opening a cabinet in my toolshed yesterday and looking face to face with our 6 ft blacksnake. This particular cabinet door had been left open the day before. I had to drive extra slow when mowing around the shed to make sure it had not come out. I sure hope it got that mouse that has been eluding my traps.

Mornin, sunny and heavy winds. Waiting to see some more ash trees fall in the woods.
We have been seeing some wasps that look like large yellow jackets.
Seems we have a bald faced hornets nest. Found out when 2 of them started chasing me.
They are so fast that one was only a few feet from me, going side to side, and could only see it when it stopped to hover.

I need to find the nest. I have never seen such an aggressive stance, so I must have been close. Usually these wasps are up in trees etc. but this might be a ground nest?

Too windy to do cleanup work, but did get hummingbird feeder out and checked on plantings, watered some as the rain did not seem to materialize during the day.

Stay safe and be well

I have two 48w LED lamps ......

So, what's my best option? Run 14 gauge from the LED pigtails, or run a smaller gauge to the wiring harness and splice it in there? Is this feasible without damaging something?

48 watts at 12v is actually 4 amps, but 16 gauge is more than adequate for that. However, wire gauge should be determined by the size of the fuse or circuit breaker, as well as the load applied.
The reasoning is that if you have a short, you want the circuit protection to open rather than start a fire. So I would suggest using the same size wire as the existing, or add a 10 amp inline fuse where you connect the 16 to the 14.

Good Morning
It’s 58 going to 68 today clear skies, but kickass winds for this afternoon. Gusts over 50.

Yesterday’s alpaca rodeo went well. 42 animals sheared by 12:30.
Biggest disaster was alpaca spit in the box of doughnuts.

Had a trip to FL scheduled today to pick up an elderly lady, but when I told her the decent into Philly would likely be “unpleasant” due to the winds, she rescheduled to Monday. So now I’m going up on the restaurant roof this morning to determine why it was 88 degrees inside yesterday. Want to get that done before the wind kicks up. Speaker is completed, so not sure what will happen after that.

Good morning, almost no wind today, very pleasant to outside to sit and do next to nothing for a short while.

I am not a great fan of Canada geese, at times in winter we have hundreds descend on us and they make a right mess. Even so, I don't object to the occasional pairs that decide to settle for longer at this time of year. For most of April one particular pair has been very noisy, trying to discourage me from getting too close. This week their honking ceased after the female chose a tiny island to lay her eggs. She has been in exactly the same position on the nest every day.

Anyone care to take a guess on when there is likely to be the splish splash of tiny feet ?

Mostly - not much to tell, other than ...
Each night at dusk we have been catching glimpses of what at first we thought was a stray cat, then realised it is a big rat running at speed across our patio. Unfortunately I don't have a 6' snake to take care of it like Wng :)unsure:), instead I am trying to slow it down with an offering of peanut butter mixed with cooking oil. If that works I will wait up one night with a rifle - hopefully that will be before it grows to man-eating size.
