Should make for good conditions tomorrow to aerate the lawn. Only downside (other than possibility of more) is that the high temp will only be around the mid-50's, with winds out of the northwest @ 20 - 30 mph.
Shouldn't be a problem...ground will still be wet.
I wore a Carhartt jacket when I aerated my lawn...a bit chilly, but resulted in nice plugs

I bought a new gas cylinder for my handy torch yesterday.
I actually bought a new one about 3 weeks ago but when I went to use it my wife said she threw it in the garbage bin as she thought it was an old one... ??
Why didn't she ask? Lucky they are only $15.

My sleep pattern is still screwed up so here I am.
87 yesterday, 88 today and I love it.

Happy anniversary to the “Love Birds”.

Stepp, prayers for your family, nothing even comes close to having a sick child, age doesn’t matter. I’ve been there and I hate this for you.
Thanks... We are still trying to process this ourselves. He's a real good guy, and the hardest working man there is; he just got married two years ago and his wife is nearly hysterical. Hard to have an end of life discussion with your child...

Got the furring up on the ceiling. Thanks to Sophie’s terrific help. I’d be lying to myself if I didn’t admit it really kicked my butt. Had delusions of maybe getting some of the next wall done, but no way. With thoughts of Ted still fresh I thought it prudent to quit for the day.

The gravel that was supposed to be here at 9:30 showerd up at 11:30 for the first load and I had all three loads in the driveway by 12:30. Originally it was for 2 loads, then I called him and tacked an extra load onto the order. Good thing I did. Used all three and got most of what I wanted done, done. I wont be slipping off the edge of the driveway during next winter.
Filled that section in and that is where the Jeep and trailer will park for the summer. It isn't the greatest grading job in the world, but a couple of rains will help to smooth it out. Got the other spot where I had to get towed out filled in as well and extended the lane I use to get into the north field by about 20'.
The only trouble with pit run gravel is you get rocks from .5" all the way up to 12" in diameter. Took off the bucket and put the rock bucket on to screen the bigger rocks out, then drop the RB and put the regular bucket on for more filling and grading.

The daily nurse came before the gravel and wanted to park right where I wanted the gravel dropped, I told her to squeeze inbetween the Dodge and the tractor. She said I wont fit. I told her that if the gravel came while she was here that I would tell the driver to dump it on her Honda. She moved to where I told her to move. She had a foot on the right side and a foot and a half on the left side. How do these people get their drivers licenses? When it came time for her to leave, the gravel still hadn't showed up and the tractor was back in its' garage.

I was going to put a floor in the tractor garage this spring, but I am NOT paying almost $40.oo each for 2x8's. The tractor has lived on a dirt floor for the past 8 years and as long as lumber is that highly priced it can live on a dirt floor for another 8 years or the rest of my lifetime, whichever comes first.

Stay safe all

Got test results back from doctor some good some bad work to do
Prayers for the work to do. Randy and Drew too.
Kyle do you have much more to do on Steiner before it is ready to mow?
The Beast has been mowing, but right now, I'm waiting on 2 new flange mount bearings for the deck's rear roller.
When I was at the garden yesterday a Realtor asked me to let her in to take pics for her web site. I showed her around as her photographer took pics. She confirmed she had clients from California on her list with budgets for houses in the two million$ range and they were leaving California for pol__cal reasons. Our neighborhood is adding 4000 houses as quickly as possible and she confirmed all the lots prepared are sold and there are 29 people on the waiting list for the new lots as the streets are just being cut in. The developer was expecting to be finished and to sell out in 8 years but now it has been reduced to 4 years. Used house are on the market less than a week. I'm glad my school taxes are frozen (over 65 Texas exemption). Now is not the time to move to central Texas there is frantic buying going on. Is it like this in other parts of Texas, Houston, Dallas?
Real estate is crazy. Don, are you thinking of selling???

Talked to a friend who was born in Austin. He says that some well funded venture capitalists are buying up whole neighborhoods of starter homes (maybe 12 years old), and are planning on renting them....to Californians.
I’m out of here around five, I’ve got a mid line to finish meds at home.

My 85 year old father in law came and mowed our grass with my tractor today, I like that family, they all have his spirit and character.

I’m going to be in and out the door, 7pm meeting.

Thanks for well wishes and especially the prayers. I’ll try to catch up some tomorrow.
Get some rest, glad you're feeling better.

Same for you Drew, get some rest.

I still have about 100 posts to catch up on....will do tomorrow morning hopefully.

Prayers for our team and nation.

Good evening all. 61F for the start, overcast, light breeze except near thunderstorms, and 1.6 inch in rain gauge. Rain/ thunderstorms through most of day,. Low 60F during heavier rain, and high temp 64F. Got organized on maintenance projects then installed replacement garbage disposal. Garage door latch started giving us trouble recently, so took that off and found a lot of wear. Found a temp door handle till we get that replaced should be tomorrow. No bike ride due to rain not ending at noon like forecast. Did get nice nap in :)

Shouldn't be a problem...ground will still be wet.

That's really the key isn't it ?

I've got one area at the top of the lower lawn, where there is hardly any grass growing ... it's pretty much all weeds. That ground is almost like concrete when it's dry (heavy clay)

The area downslope at the bottom of the yard is much different. There the topsoil is very thick ... probably 6" - 12" thick.

Figure that all the topsoil up top washed down over the years.

I wore a Carhartt jacket when I aerated my lawn...a bit chilly, but resulted in nice plugs

Good to know ...

I'll bundle up if I need to.

Just need to git-er-done.

BTW - glad to hear the eye issue was a non-issue ... and no cataracts ... (y)

FWIW, The Woman has been having issues with dry eyes and is taking Restatis ... she says it really seems to be helping her.

Interesting... Our 37 year old son was just diagnosed with an auto immune disease; the prognosis isn't very good. Doc said he has end stage heart failure due to it attacking his heart muscles. The MD's have put him on meds that are used for chemo to shut down his immune system. Could you please share a link to your info? Thank you.
Stepp, I am so sorry. I don't even have words, or know what to say about this. Prayers for him, his wife, and your whole family. I pray for a miracle. I know you will do everything you can.

I found this, but I'm sure you're pouring over every piece of information you can find.

Well, I posted this morning that I didn't know what today's agenda was....
I found out that information the hard way....

We were going to plant a couple of plants and needed to mix up some potting mix. The wifey asked if I could get here a pair of latex work gloves from the shop....

I had quickly stood up and headed outside to the shop. Going down the steps, got a little lightheaded. Being the stubborn soul that I am, I was determined to get those gloves. As soon as I got inside the shop, I knew I was going to pass out....

I quickly sat on the front tire of the tractor..... not going to help.....went out cold..... I think I fell into / hit the quick attach plate on the loader.

I woke up eyeballing the concrete, my glasses smashed, but I could see the few drops of blood up close and personal. I don't remember how I got up off the floor, but made it over to the bench and grabbed some paper towels. I pulled out a chair and sat in the doorway, trying to call the wifey inside the house....

Thankfully, my son just came out of his house to take out the trash. He heard me calling and knew something was wrong, he came running over to the shop door. At the same time, the wifey saw him running towards the shop and bolted out the door towards us.

I am ok, except for a few areas... the face took the brunt. A circular laceration all the way around my eye... would have been much worse if I wasn't wearing glasses... probably would have damaged my eyeball. Abrasions on the forehead and cheek.... gonna have a BIG shinner....

I either jammed or slammed my left hand into something, first 2 fingers really stiff, big bruise behind the knuckles top and palm. Another big bruise and abrasion on my right elbow... it moves fine, very little pain there, just a big hematoma.

The right shoulder is stiff and sore, but no noticeable injury or bruising.

GOOD NEWS is no new damage or pain to the knee, Titanium tough!

I think the new BP meds dropped me too low. Even after walking back to the house and getting cleaned up, the BP was only 110/70, P-68. Going to continue monitoring BP this evening. Feeling OK for the last few hours.

Needless to say, wifey won't let me out of her sight.... plants will have to wait...

So, unknowingly to me.... my agenda was determined for me!

OUCH! I do hope you're feeling better
Just got back from an early dermatologist visit to follow up on the biopsies about a month ago. One on my forehead was a squamous cell cancer. She said we caught it very early, so she used a curettage and electro method to remove...didn't hurt, but the needles for numbing stings.

Was it you, Kyle, that needs to schedule an exam with a dermatologist??
Glad they caught it early...yes, I probably should get a look over by one. Last time, I self medicated with our own liquid nitrogen at work. Mea culpa.

Happy B'lated anniversary Mr and Mrs Bird. I like that Love Birds moniker for the day.
