When our temperatures get down to about -40F you will find the downstairs AND the upstairs wood stoves burning.
Downstairs burns most of the winter, steady.
We did similar when I was in Vermont. Small wood stove in the living room and a wood burning furnace in the basement.

Household rule was if you got up in the middle of the night to pee, you stoked both fires as well.

Little different in Arkansas

Good morning. It was 39° here this morning and our high this afternoon should be around 62°. The wind is much lighter today than the 12-15 mph wind yesterday with gusts in the mid to high 20's.

I've been trimming trees, the last few days, in the Polaris with my Lynxx 40 volt pole saw and chain saw. I installed a new chain on the pole saw and it cuts 4-6" branches like butter. The new chain replaced the original pole saw chain which I got 3 years of hard use from. The original chain was an Oregon but not a very good one. The new one is a much better Oregon low kickback which I got on Amazon .. 2 for $21.

I mentioned getting my first COVID vaccine on Tuesday and only having a sore are. Wednesday evening I had severe chills for about three hours and then they were gone as fast as their onset. Guess that proves the vaccine is working.

Today's plan .. is more tree trimming and yaupon massacre. Pastures are still too soft for even the 55 HP tractor / grapple to pickup the piles of limbs but, hopefully another few days of sunshine will resolve that. I've already got three very large burn piles and unless I can get a windless day to burn .. I'll probably have to start a 4th burn pile.

Hope everyone has a safe, peaceful weekend.

Made a homemade pizza for dinner last night, including the crust. Turned out really good.

Was thinking about trying that, never made my own crust. What sauce did you use?

Our little cat has an over active thyroid and has to have medicine now. It throws up it’s food a lot.
It’s enjoying the stove heat.

I used a local made sauce Mid痴. The local made tastes better than the commercial brands

Good Morning!!!! 60F @ 7:15AM. Some clouds this morning will give way to generally sunny skies for the afternoon. High 72F. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph.
Rain has evaporated from next weekend's forecast, but the following Monday has some potential. Too far out to have much confidence in it, though.

We called those birds grackles where I was raised in Ohio, Ron. My mom loved birds, and fed them all year round, but didn't mind one bit if a BB somehow found its way inside one of those grackles. I put in solar primarily so I'd have power during outages. California has become a third world place. I'm not even sure I'm saving any money because the way PG&E does their "who owes what to whom" calculation is totally impenetrable. I'll find out next July on the anniversary of the system's commission.

Back in my coffee drinkin' days, Don, I really liked Peet's Colombian Dark Roast. Even the decaf was good. I couldn't find the Colombian last time I was at the grocery store, so came home with another of their dark roasts, but it's good, too. And by good, I mean smooth with no bitterness and a hint of char flavor.

The Reno forklift dealer finally got back to me and he has a pallet jack in stock. His only shipping quote came to more than the price of the jack, so it looks like I'm in for a little truck ride. If they're open today, that works for me...

Got another pallet of wood split yesterday. A lot of it was limb and crotch wood, which takes more time and produces a lot more waste. Good for the campfire wood pile, but Mr. Back wasn't happy with all the extra bending over.

The Makita chain saw still has the 14" bar on it, and yesterday I got a chance to use it on some oak that took every bit of that length to get through. Couldn't use much down force during the cut, so it took a little longer than a gas saw would have, but it did get through it just fine. Checked the charge at the end of the session, and for the second day in a row I'm noticing that one battery still says it's fully charged and the other one is one LED down. Is that normal?

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend...

41 early, 47 now, had .29” of rain overnight, breeze is picking up.

My wife is a hood cook, but I’m better , so I do most of the cooking. She is a heck of sous-chef though.
Still no answer to my emails about the vaccine. Found one link to a clinic that said fill out info for an appointment. Filled it out and got,”no appointments available”. I guess I’ll get it when I get it.
Not much planned today, a cup of coffee and then see what happens, I mean other than peeing it out an hour later.
Y’all have a great day, and enjoy your snow, rain, sun, cold and warm weather.

Good afternoon, rain has eased, only occasional light showers today. On the look out now for doves carrying olive branches.

Ron, we have plentiful supply of starlings, no need to send that one back to Europe, you are welcome to keep it.

I charge all mine in the middle of a tile floor
Nice to see I am not the only one so paranoid !

Popgadget, thanks for showing others what can go wrong with lithiums.

Lithium batteries have some great properties, however they also have a lot of potential for something to go badly wrong at anytime. Personally I would never buy generic no-name batteries for applications like power tools. If you are tempted to save a few dollars, first have a good look to who claimed to make it and see if that is a company who has a reputation to protect. I would need convincing that the battery really has been designed and manufactured to the standards required by a product approval organisation like UL (Underwriters Laboratories). A simple "UL" stamp on the product means nothing, it could well be a fake and the people selling it couldn't care less. If I couldn't afford to buy branded lithiums from an approved supplier, I would give up on batteries and go back to corded tools.
