Bird, sorry to hear about your friend, Jack.

20-44 today, too cold for me. I guess we will leave all the decorations in place until my kids and grandkids come Friday and have our Christmas together.
I did the Saturday night lite church service last night.
Didn’t sleep well last night, Gracie had an emergency potty call at 4:30 and I didn’t sleep much afterwards. I didn’t get in bed much before midnight watching football. I don’t usually stay up late for that but the game was good. We have to go to my father in law’s house for a hopefully short visit, I’m about visited out for a few days, he was here yesterday but forgot something that Ellen needs to help him with.
I want to see a couple of games today, while napping.
I’ve got a big pot of soup in the crockpot for later.

Have a good one.

the tiny pond is icing up nicely.
Since I didn't want wet feet or socks, didn't test it.

The kitchen shelf is just a kit but with enough added glue,
it seems quite sturdy. Wanted a place to get the bulk water and iced tea
off the floor in this tiny kitchen. Found an old thick face towel that fit the top area
nicely so using that to protect the microscopically thin paint job.
Now there's a get to that I got to.

I need to paint that coffee sign, it's bare metal and already showing fingerprints.
Or maybe just oil it down...but if I painted it, I could make the coffee mugs a different color.
Built by young friend who builds all kinds of stuff out of sheet steel and a CNC driven welder/cutter

I picked the two plastic water bottles out of my back lawn but shows how far up the water came. May take some squinting to see.

36F and mostly sunny @ 13:00, heading up to a high of 41F for the day.

Hauled in 10' step ladder yesterday and got the ceiling fan in the living room vacuumed off before it started raining down dust bunnies. Still have wipe off the blades with a wet rag. Found out that the fan is a Charleston, not a Hunter. Was purchased on June 21, 1984. Also discovered that it was still set for the summer (blowing air down, not sucking it up) so I changed that. And that the pull-chain speed switch on the fan itself was not set on "High" - which it needs to be, for the speed to be controlled from a wall switch ... so we reset that as well. Bad news is still seeing some anomalies with kitchen lighting/wall outlets even with the fan shut off ... :(

The Woman worked on cleaning up the hall cleaning closet, got all the rags organized, folded up, and stowed away in a couple of plastic containers (Hallelujah !!!) The light in that closet has a flakey pull-string fixture (as do a couple others), so ordered some screw-in IR motion switches from Amazon so the lights will turn on when you open the door.

Much progress made in the kitchen ... the table top is in sight ...

Agenda for today: refill feeders, clear some snow, possibly haul recyclables container and some trash up to the road, possible trip to The Depot as well for replacement panels for the ceiling in the kitchen as well.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

Good Morning!!!! 45F @ 5:30AM. A mix of clouds and sun. High 56F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.
The chances for rain coming in tonight and into early next week seem to have evaporated, but Wednesday night is supposed to be the start of rain that will last through next weekend. We've had only 34% of normal rain for this year so far, and are still in extreme drought conditions. And we're still getting call outs for our fire fighters.

The fellow I purchased my old BMW motorcycle from died on Christmas day a few years ago. I was hoping to get it running before he passed, but lost that race. He'd been working on it for more than ten years, and would have enjoyed at least hearing it go again, if not taking it for a spin himself.

Yesterday was spent on house cleaning and paperwork, things that need done and are done best when the weather outside isn't very nice. The sun did break through the clouds in late afternoon, throwing a beautiful rainbow across the sky for a few minutes. I used that as an excuse to take down a tarp I'd put over the the ground where the splitter had sat, keeping all the kindling chips and camp fire wood scraps dry. The kindling got moved to the kindling box, the camp fire bits to the rest of that pile under still another tarp.

About then the body shop neighbor showed up with a bottle of wine to trade for the Makita tools I'd cleaned up. He'd just gifted his son with a new set of battery tools, and figured what I gave him might last a little longer as a result. It seems the young man isn't very good at putting things back once they're "borrowed", or fixing/replacing them once they're broken. Wonder where he gets that, and if I'll ever see the Have-A-Heart trap again that I loaned his old man last night? The rain that was making the rainbow earlier came for a visit, so plans for a camp fire were cancelled and instead we sat under the porch cover listening to the pitter patter and gurgling downspouts, sharing that bottle of wine and toasting to a better 2021.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

I'm not so shy about asking for loaned stuff back....."hey are you done with that ________, I need it for _______" .....Hope you get more rain. We still have cracks 2" wide in our back yard.

Eric, sounds like quite the storm. I wish I had a fast greyhound or whippet, that could catch birds eating my fish....

One of the 45rpm vinyl records I found was Gary US Bonds Dear Lady Twist.....one of my favs as a very young boy.

Just got done with a bit of firewood.....that stuff sure warms you up plenty before you even burn it. I'm so sore.....just took 3 ibuprofen.
