Imagine how much force it took to pull the top triple clamp apart like that. The gram was bent and the engine case was cracked as well, so I elected not to buy it back from Haggerty.

I don't have to imagine. I was almost stopped when an oncoming Suzuki GSXR1000 and its rider sliding sideways down the road crossed the centerline, sending me vaulting over the handlebars. I landed flat on my back, my feet slamming down so hard it broke a bone in my leg. Broke my wrist when I went over the bars. The other rider died a couple days later from internal injuries. Six weeks flat on my back, several operations on my hand, and many hours wrenching later, we were both back on the road. Just one of many reasons I moved out of a major metropolitan area, but now instead of dodging soccer moms and brain dead commuters, it's drunks and deer. I love riding too much to give it up now, but realize old age will eventually catch up with me even if I don't meet some other unfortunate circumstance. Either way, that's gonna be one of the saddest days of my life.

I’m glad that you survived that ordeal.

When I was convalescing, I would have friends that were seriously ill checking up on me, I felt guilty that I would likely recover from my injuries, but their diseases weren’t going to go away.

Everything is a matter of perspective, and I’m thankful to be up and about, even as the aches and pains of aging replace the ones of healing.

A very fitting sentiment for the day. Every day since that day has been a gift, and I'm very thankful for each and every one, no matter how bad they may seem at the time.

Good morning to all! Don't know what the low was, didn't look. Somewhere around 30.... going up to near 50 today. High tomorrow will only be 40...and windy. Maybe a chance of an inch or two of snow by Saturday morning.

Pies are in the oven, pumpkin cheese and a plain pumkin. The pumpkin cheese has about a 3/4" layer of NY style cheesecake, then a layer of the pumpkin. When the wifey first made one a few years ago, I didn't think that I would like the combination. I really like good cheesecake, and good pumpkin pie....well the combo has become the "go-to" pie....:licking:

Turkey will follow..... most of the meal will be cooked here, then we'll risk carrying it over to the big house for dinner.

We have a lot to be thankful for, a peaceful refection of the past will be in order....

Well I got some unwanted news from my sister this am, apparently my nephew has relapsed and they are giving him steroids to try to relieve some of the pain. She said that he is so weak that they can't understand him on the phone. Of course there is no way they can go see him. I just feel terrible for her and Bro. in law. This has to be one of the worst things to happen in life for a person to have to go through. No one should outlive their kids.
Continued prayers would be much appreciated.

Wife let the dogs out while I was still under the covers. My Landseer comes upstairs ad hops in bed with me. Wet feet and coat as well.

Happy thanksgiving everyone, I have a lot to be thankful for even considering how 2020 has played out. I spent a good portion of 2019 in hospitals and rehab after an accident on my antique motorcycle nearly killed me. Actually it was the SUV that hit me nearly head on, not the motorcycle’s fault.

Didn’t accomplish much yesterday, played table tennis with oldest son, played with grandson and dogs. Cleaned up a little more in the shop.

Looking forward to cooking today, I’m curious to see how the convection oven does. Pies are ready, they will go in soon. Turkey goes in around noon.

I really enjoy the pictures of everyone’s projects, there is a lot of varied talent and wisdom here, from bird houses to desks to tractor restorations.

Sorry about your 2019 wreck. In Manor Texas, We had a drunk hispanic man in a FordF350 plow over a corolla waiting for the light to turn green, and killed the passenger. His 3rd or 4th DWI. So it doesn't always happen just to cyclists.

For me, living in the country that forced some of your distant ancestors to leave gives no cause for celebration.

Since half of my family, my Mother's side, goes back to Miles Standish and Priscilla Alden, as do many of the Caucasians on the East Coast, I have always had
a connection and appreciation for the British. Most of our legal system and Bill of Rights can be traced back to your island.
I think that's because the English people as a whole were better educated.
Of course you did imprison the founder of the Quaker faith, likely because he was a revolutionary in his time, insisting on human equality in a time infatuated with royalty and pedigree.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING Y'ALL!!!

Much to be thankful for here. Our church has trimmed the budget, but is still financially healthy. Family is healthy and well. I've been able to keep my job through all this virus stuff so far....Hope the vaccine gets out fast.

We tried something different. We put the 22lb 10kg Turkey on the roaster at 250F overnight. It was still a bit frozen internally, even though it had been in the fridge for 5 days. So, Williams Sonoma has a page about slow cooking....and we are trying it. This is the biggest bird I've ever cooked, AFAICR.

Wifey decided to make homemade cream of mushroom soup to put on green bean casserole. Loaded with 'shrooms.

Chili and prime rib sound good.....wondering how that Lobster dinner worked out?

Really nice desk Ted, I'm impressed.... and Drew, your shop and bird houses look great. I wonder if fluid film would keep the column on your drill press free from rust? Every drill press I've ever seen that had some years on it had a rusty column....and that makes it tough to raise/lower table.

Hope Rick is OK. Jay and wife too. Farmer and family too.

Wng and rs, hope your backs get better. I've had to take ibuprofen 3 nights in a row, working on this Steiner...glad I'm not a full time mechanic at my age. But I do enjoy tinkering and fixing things.

So I'm assuming a "canyon racer" was going to fast and laid it down on a right hander, skidding his bike into your lane? Did you hit him as he sent you "dukes of hazzard" flying?

I'm still glad you ride. I miss riding. Just don't have the time for it, and I'm not going to commute with all the deer on a bike.
