Good morning!!!!

Good morning, the temperature here is 22°F and going to 25. Wind NNW 6 mph. 30% chance of light snow.

We got another cord of wood into the basement. I'll let it sit where it is until the surface moisture is gone, then it will get piled.
I am hoping I get a phone call this week regarding my rock bucket order. I will need to go get it at the dealers.

The long reach Lock-n-lube fits the tiny pockets in my loader so that will be my 'go to' grease gun for both the tractor, loader and BH.
While I am greasing the tractor, I may get ambitious and grease the Jeep, too. Don't hold your breath tho.

Have a safe day all

good morning all.
cold weather here too, 33 out going up to 57 and then down to 24 tonight.
Think I'm going to take a few things out of outdoor unheated garage, like car wax and put them in house basement.

little planned for today. Put up some more wood storage hanging brackets yesterday afternoon, so stored wood is better supported, otherwise I'm ready to go.
I have two plans printed out for bird feeders, now I have to find a few for bird houses. I have an old favorite The Complete Book of Birdhouse Construction which has helped me
in the past. Trick is to make as few cuts as possible, this is pretty simple woodworking. I did get some nice stainless steel hanging hardware, things I've learned from the past where
I wanted to "do better" next time. I do need to get some small brass or SS hinges to use on bottom of birdhouse to allow cleaning it out.
Going to local hardware store this morning to browse what they have.

Phil, good planning on the chain saw. New plug always make them run better too...I used to buy plugs for my Echo saws and weed eaters by the half dozen.
Don't forget chain saw lube oil. And if you don't have one of these for greasing the front sprocket, highly recommend it. Really makes the chain spin easier.

37 and clear going to 54.

David, glad you got your genny running and batteries on the mend...but that's a tough way to make a cup of coffee. :)

Mostly, gopher status sounds good.

I think I'll finish this cup of coffee and fire up the woodstove for the next 3 days of cold weather.

39 outside right now, heading to 54 today. Needs to dry out some more.

Low water pressure this AM, not sure what that is about. Need to call the plumber I guess. Just had work done a month or two ago. Sigh.

Car is totaled. Called the insurance company and did the deed. Tow truck should show sometime this AM. Sigh.

Signed off on a contract with a consulting firm for our septic issue. Looks like a new drain field is in the works. Sigh.

No local hardware big box stores are carrying flipping porch posts. Looks like a road trip is in the works. Sigh.

Hope all have a good day. Be safe.

Good morning all

29 now high around 45 and partly sunny today. The weather guessers have been off by 5 or so degrees for daily highs so if it hits 40 I’ll be surprised.

Looked at snow blower and decided to have another coffee instead, just couldn’t seem to get into forward motion yesterday.

No plans for thanksgiving this year, usually go to my sisters but with the upswing in COVID cases and all of us being old and decrepit decided it’s best to stay home. Wife picked up a small turkey yesterday so I think our thanksgiving will be Wednesday or Thursday.

Pick up grocery order this morning and see what the rest of the day brings.

Stay safe and healthy and enjoy your day everyone

Poured first cup of coffee. 32° with light snow. Heading to 35° with some sunshine in afternoon. Grass has a white tint to it this morning. Walkways and driveway are just wet. Managed another conserve energy day yesterday. Dr appointment this morning. Not sure what I will get done rest of the day.
Room for everyone.

Kyle, I have never bought a used battery. Hope you have good luck with it.

RS, I am glad that blackbirds have finally gone somewhere else. I have needed to fill all 4 feeders ever 2 days with them around.

Drew, do you use SS to assemble the feeders and birdhouses?

David, design of trim looks good.

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

that reminds me, have a free turkey to pick up at supermarket. Think I'll run it over to the local food pantry.
Ron, SS hardware and either bronze or SS screws

Good morning
It’s 33 here heading to the 40’s.looks like another decent day, but a bit cold.
I’ve got to go with my wife to drop her car off for inspection this morning then off to Concord, NH this afternoon.so I don’t anticipate getting much done around here today.

Helped my son mount the barometer, the tricky part is that it’s about 5 inches deep. Had to cut a hole in the wall, and made a cedar trim ring to both add finish and depth. Came out pretty nice though. It in his office in the converted barn.

Drew if you strike out at the hardware store for stainless hinges, try-
Stainless Steel Square Butt Hinges With Holes, No Finish
My preference is to always support the locals first, but they are usually limited in their selection. McMaster Carr is another great source, but can be pricey.

been thinking about that turkey and Thanksgiving, and the folks in need.
Folks without jobs, behind on their payments. Nice turkey for dinner reminds them of family and hopefully
gets family together in a good way. Safely.

So I'm going to buy three more turkeys, think I'm going to call manager on duty and ask he/she to put away three of their least expensive per pound
turkeys aside for me, at a charity price since they are going to our local food pantry in Lambertville NJ, just over the Delaware River. Was always a sister town
to New Hope PA, still is in many ways, PA and NJ sharing the same pretty part of the River, connected by an old narrow steel bridge. One like many on the Delaware that have had
hard times due to floods. This local bridge went down in 1955, one of the impetuses for building the new giant toll bridge just North of both towns. Lot of concrete, not going to wash away
easily. But the old bridge hums a little as you drive over the open metal grates under you. 15mph and it goes from downtown New Hope to downtown Lambertville, truly connecting the heart of each little town to each other.

But the other side of the River was NJ, like a foreign land. I only knew of the old Trenton train station, where my father got the train
or in Princeton Junction to take to NYC every day.
Wow what a pit that Trenton station was early on. Full remodeled now, no longer 3rd world.

The transient local walking population near the train station never was going to win any Pulitizer awards, very rough neighborhood.
Lot of street crime. So unlike the quiet and peacefulness of the family farm. We were always glad to get out of
Trenton and get back over the bridge.
Which was immediately the upmarket Upper Makefield area, moving North to New Hope, Solebury (where I live), Lumberville, Tinicum areas.
Where there was very little crime.

So the other side of the River was always the other side of the tracks too for us. Those NJ folks were just different, different accents to their speech.
Foreign....:D
Of course much of NJ was farm land then, so if we went anywhere beyond Lambertville or Flemington, we went to Trenton. Where I think one of the world's first
McDonalds was opened, on North Olden Ave and yup, we would make the drive over, usually an excuse to go looking for adventure when you were stuck home on the homeland
working constantly. To see the first signs about millions and millions of burgers sold. The first time they were advertising
how big and popular they were, back in 60s. I wonder what the count is now...billions for sure
And as of a year or two ago, it was still there, and likely still is. A very successful business.

Trenton was known for the state capital, in a terrible downtown area, and the Burb, aka Chambersburg, where
if you knew the right places you could get some seriously fine Italian food, either simple or in tuxedo'd linen on the table restaurants.
Where I went many times on company lunches with the owner. He was buying so why not.

Shows how one needs to get out and see the world
There is so much to see and so much to learn. So when you come home, you will
truly appreciate what you have. And understand better what you don't.
Like living in an oppressive police state. Bad news.
or....
Like living in an area where folks would not think/dream of throwing something out their car window on your lawn.
But for some, the world is just their ashtray.
So far my front lawn is clean as can be. Helps the police station and township maintenance building are 1000 feet away.

time to head downtown for my turkeys.
