Good Morning!!!! 67F @ 6:00AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 99F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

Sorry to hear about the mismatch on the chain sharpener, Don. Maybe they sent the wrong one by mistake? I'm rooting for your success, BTW. I have a very nice Oregon chain sharpener, but it's a PITA to have to change the wheel to grind down the rakers. Having one simple hand tool for each chain size would be a boon.

I'd love to help you New Englanders out with some rain, but we haven't had any here since June, and even then, it was only a quarter inch.

What is it about German cars and Nav systems, Drew. The BMW I had came with in dash Nav, and the database was ancient. BMW wanted several hundred dollars to update the database, which consisted of a new CD that had to be installed in the trunk. Old, outdated, and slow, I used my dash mount Garmin instead.

That crane does look hot, Ron. I didn't know they panted like that.

Hope you get a good ride in, Rich, and that the Prince of Darkness takes a day off. Either way, though, from the comments here, many of us should be following your example.

I think the old safe will make room for a new safe, one with a higher fire rating, Bruce.

That's forty-five cents an hour for that gauge wheel, RS! I'd complain LOUDLY down at the dealership!:laughing::laughing:

Will those little pieces of Kong sprout a new crop next spring, Billy?:laughing:

No solid state conversions available for the mini bike, Kyle? Or you gonna teach the kid all about points?

Sometimes the hardest part of getting something done is getting started, Bird. Glad you broke the ice and had a productive day.

Speaking of which, it didn't seem like a productive day yesterday. I did get another access point for the WiFi network mounted up on the pumphouse antenna mast, and managed to do it with out busting my keester by falling off the extension ladder. Then it seemed the rest of the day was spent chasing down various electronic gadgets that needed to be told about the new WiFi network and password, and going through some down right nasty reset procedures to git'er done. Thought I had everything taken care of and was settling down with dinner to watch the news, and the remote control for the TV wouldn't work. Yep, it relies on a hub that uses WiFi to communicate with the mother ship somewhere off in Internet land, and couldn't communicate without the network. By that time I was starving, so made do with a magazine at the kitchen table on the other side of the dinner plate. Then used an app on the iPad to reprogram the hub and still got to the news before bedtime.

Neighbor was happy with the machining and welding I did on his hydraulic cylinder part, even though my welding looked like something a bird would leave behind. But I should have removed the brand new seal that got melted; somehow I got the impression it was an old one he planned on replacing. Now he's anticipating the other side to start leaking, so he has to go back for more parts anyway. Just hope this one doesn't gall coming apart...

Sheesh, Hump Day already again?

"Wish you guys in NH would get some of this rain. We were parched in July, and soggy now."

Please do send any amount you wish at anytime.

"That's so you don't contaminate those Kubota parts with JD cooties."
 I wouldn't have said that but I thought it tho ;) sooo if Ron hears strange noises it's the Deere trying to get away from the Bota ;)

$599 for gps-get a new phone with Waze for a lot less!

Sounds good about the phone, Ken, but how do you keep the phone from BBQing itself on the dash and shutting off from overheating?

And be careful using Waze's real time rerouting. A while back it sent me into a residential neighborhood during rush hour, and ended up at a T intersection marked "No right turn, no left turn, 3PM-7PM weekdays". And there was a traffic cop sitting across the street writing tickets as fast as he could pass them out.

73°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 84° today.

All the rain fell apart yesterday evening before it reached us, or stayed to the south.

Been thinking about putting an SSD in my studio computer. It came with a 1TB HDD. It's surprisingly quiet. However, it's hard to argue with the speed increase from solid state, not to mention the lack of opportunity for physical failure like with a hard disk. Thanks for the tips on cloning the existing drive. That was the part I was most unsure about, too.

Ron, my drivers license expires on Saturday. I was planning to go there in person on Friday to get it renewed, and go through the Real ID rigamarole. However, the Illinois Secretary of State's office sent me another notice last week that I'm eligible to renew online through the good driver program, and made it pretty clear that they really didn't want me going to a facility. Supposedly, everything has been extended (including the Real ID requirement) and doesn't actually expire. I have my doubts about this, and am pretty sure that the money grubbers in Springfield will find a way to charge late fees anyway. Of course, if I do it online it's easier, but I'll still have to go back within the next year to get the Real ID upgrade. Naturally, there will be another fee for that.

We have three peach trees left at our place, Ken. Two of them are loaded with 1/2-size peaches, and the third has hardly any. I noticed yesterday that their color is starting to turn. Guess that's as big as they're going to get this year.

Mine is in a cupholder-grip so not on the dash per se- I have been rerouted a few times- sometimes with a better view- but my trucks built in gps map is so out of date and lacks many locations. It actually shows my house about 1000' away from where it is and in the middle of an intersection. According to the built in map,my house is a drive through!.

I had the same experience using Waze on a business trip a couple months ago. It took me right past the facility entrance I was suppose to use, halfway through the town and back around to a dead-end neighborhood street just behind the customer's facility. Nice try, Waze.

GPS devices generally direct people coming to our address to a field about a 1/4 mile down the road. We really don't mind that at all. :D

I will be putting Kubota parts in top drawer. I will watch for noises.

I looked, that痴 why I responded. Sea foam makes a spray, but deep creep is a penetrating oil.

You are right it is a penetrant but in the directions on the back label it says for use in carburetors to loosen throttle plate and remove varnish etc. I first heard about it when I started getting into Japanese KEI trucks which are mostly 3 cylinders and the fresh imports are notorious for having filthy, polluted fuel and cooling systems.I've owned 4 of them and on 3 I had to remove the gas tank to clean it thoroughly then replace all the flex fuel lines and filters. The carburetors on most of these little trucks are a nightmare with several vacuum lines and a real pain to try to rebuild and get back together right. I think this is the reason the guys started to look for a simpler way to clean up the carb. passages and most of them ended up using Seafoam with pretty good success.

After having success on these little trucks I tried it on a chain saw that was starting to act up and it worked on it. I've used it on several other small engine tools that were either running poorly or not at all and it worked on the majority of them but not all. On the ones that this didn't fix I just replaced the carb. with the cheap after market units and that usually worked.

If you want to read more about the Japanese Kei trucks there is a forum called Japaneseminitrucks.com that is fairly active and has a lot of good information.

Even my gps sends me down the side road to west of my place. People drive down it looking for my address. Do not find it. Go back to main road. Look left. There is my address in 4” numbers.
