Well I guess I'll be changing the battery in my Apple phone myself. It's maybe five years old and Verizon won't do it and local

they don't provide batteries? how ridiculous...good thing Amazon does
doesn't exactly motivate me to replace this with a newer Iphone; maybe the time has come to go Android

You're probably better off just upgrading your phone to a newer iPhone ... ;)

As an example, ATT offers a deal (for new customers) where you can get a new iPhone XR - which is not the latest and greatest but is a current model (and is far more capable than what you have now) - for $5/month (for 30 months) @ 0% ... total $150.

Want an even newer unit ? ... you can get an iPhone 11 for under $12 a month.

Of course, if you really don't use the capabilities of the phone, then it might not be worth it to you.

RS the bottom line is the NEW CUSTOMERS part. I'm not switching from Verizon. There is a 200-500 dollar value built in to pick up a new cell account and that
gets credited against the cost of the phone. No such deal for existing customers. But thanks
I bought the battery (with install tool kit included) for 18 bucks online. Should be in tomorrow. Will watch youtube how to video a couple more times
and do it myself.

Drew,

If you were an ATT customer, I could give you an 800 number for a customer retention specialist who could offer you a deal (not generally available without asking) to keep your business.

I would assume Verizon probably has something similar.

Having said all that, it appears your present phone is a little newer than I thought, and it may well be worth the time, effort, and expense to replace the battery.

Still ... the components parts inside are very small and not exactly easy to work on.

I have found iFixit's repair guides quite handy in the past:

Apple had a twenty-nine dollar battery replacement program, but unfortunately it ended in December of 2018. I took advantage of it, and the battery in my SE is still going strong. Apple will still do the repair, but it now costs forty-nine dollars.

Here's a pretty good tutorial on doing the job yourself. I've had good luck using their tutorials for iPod and MacBook Pro repairs, but I don't think I'd tackle an iPhone after what I saw reading through this one.

I'm not replacing my SE until Apple comes out with a 5G compatible iPhone. I'll probably never see a 5G network in my neck of the woods, but it seems foolish to buy dated technology.

Good luck with the repair, Drew!

Yeah ... we somehow missed the discounted battery replacement ... wish we hadn’t.

The components are tiny ... and if I had to guess, fragile.

Probably depends on the price point, current need, and the estimated time for deployment of the future technology ... as well as the anticipated benefits that it will deliver.

Good luck with the repair, Drew!

Last I checked the new SE’s were a very cost effective upgrade. I tried the diy battery replacement in my old Iphone 6. Looked easy, but I failed, had to replace phone.

Forgot to mention, I set up an appointment with an Apple Genious to have the SE battery replaced while I waited. Had to drive two hours each direction to get it done, and kill four hours in a mall waiting, but not being without the phone for a week or two was well worth it.

temp in car read 101, still sweating after I came in.
rented storage locker, a/c felt about 80 in there which is fine, low humidity which is the big issue.
10x10, first month 35 bucks and they let me keep the circular lock. less than ten minutes from rv campground

I used to do a lot of small electronics repair having owned a radio shack but my arthritis makes it hard now but
I'm going to try. Worst thing is I wreck it and then have to find verizon store and buy a new one. Not sure I'd do apple again, reminds me
of Tesla with all its controlling rules. And yes nearest Apple store is two hours away in Raleigh, no thank you. And not 5G, vs the competition.

think I"m going to curl up with Kindle and just chill this afternoon.
