Hey Drew, might even say heartless. When Sophie had her car accident the hospital filed a lien and I got copy in mail just days after she got out of ICU. And they already knew we had insurance.

That is low.

88°was our high.

Stopped at an ice cream stand in VA last night and we were the only people with masks on. Not even the workers had them.
Was at office today, probably will go in all week. Masks required at work.

Good morning 66 going up to 88 - but almost every day exempt one for the last two weeks has been above 90.
Pool is leaking and hand dug the pipes up to where it goes under the cement. almost 8 hours total in 2 days of sun/90 some odd degrees.

Today need to clean, brush and repaint the leading edge of the front stairs.

Drew - glad to see the closing went to plan- RV park should be a nice change.

LS my uncle was part of an RC plane club in brooklyn many years ago. His biggest plane had a 13' wingspan! they used to do mock battles with bombs dropping etc.

PJS - those cabinets look real nice. Wish I had room for something like this.

Be well and stay safe.

Did you find the leak? sounds like hard work. Don't overheat.

Morning all! First day of vacation. 65 going to 81 with high humidity. Sink repair I started Saturday did not go well, once again the previous owner improperly installed the drain piping. 3/4 inch to short on the stub out so they jury rigged all kinds of fittings and sealers instead of replacing the pipe!! I'm to arthritic to hang upside down backwards so gave up and called a plumber friend. Will be moving some dirt around the yard today and starting a project at my sisters house. Will take it slow and drink plenty of water. First up is an early morning walk with my wife. On our way now while it is still a little cooler.
Stay safe and healthy all!

Hope your plumber friend didn't turn you upside down backwards with the bill. :)

Mostly, it's too hot for me to ride.

I tried to get a sooner start, but I didn't get on the tractor until after 10am and mowed until 2:15pm. The temp gage on the tractor was past halfway, that's the farthest right I've ever seen it. The screens were full of weed/seeds. Good grief it was hot.

I do have a chuckle kind of memory though regarding wife. Due to nature of her accident etc there were lawyers involved. Of course given there was sufficient insurance we initially didn’t see the need, however we were soon convinced that wasn’t good thinking and wife was soon the client of one of the top personal injury attorneys in Atlanta thanks to a neighbor who was also an accident investigator (yup, he had me at the scene the morning after). The best part was not only did he genuinely like Sophie, but he and I got along great. Lots of number collection etc along the way and finally Sophie’s ortho surgeon proclaimed she had reached maximum medical improvement, therefore time for the medical insurance to settle up. Her case manager and I were on first name basis and she knew that nothing went through without my knowledge and approval. So the insurance company sent their tally to her lawyer. Included was a note saying they knew I was tracking everything and would I be so kind as to check their work and inform if they have missed something. Both attorney and I got a chuckle as we knew from comparing my notes to theirs line by line they had missed nearly $100k. Told the attorney I didn’t feel obligated to hurt their feelings, he agreed, so we signed off on their tally as correct. Still don’t feel badly.

When my son burned his hand and had to go to hospital, we had a time with their billing. As I recall they turned over a bill I had paid to a debt collection agency.

Good evening all. 80F for the start, overcast, no rain. sky cleared to partly cloudy, light wind and high temp was 100F feels like 112F. Wife and I have started to walk together in morning, and got the lawn mowed. Still need to weed eat, and got nap in. Volagi had a rear flat work on that after ride tomorrow.
Covid update: Cooke unchanged, Montague unchanged, Grayson 743 confirmed cases. 61 active cases
David I hope so for Kekoa's sake
Kyle, That would be a scare with the wife, have done some follow up diags? I was thinking if we missed chapel than watch the streaming, but they could not stream, tried 2 different phones, so glad I was there
RNG hope the crushed concrete works for you
Roy if the project is not going well not much hope for audit.
Eric somehow I don't think a rollover is the correct trick
Phil enjoy your walk and vacation
Drew very careful about how far/long
Buppies if they are positive do you have to quarantine?
Mike sounds like good progress on porch, good luck with glue removal.
RNG good luck with the plug.
Ron got a lot done yesterday, impressive savings on duct work. Nice daises
Don Turning down tractor work? It is hot down there. :confused3:
Drew part of the problem with recycling is that people don't sort through like they should. When people put trash in with recycle mix plastic with different numbers all that plastic becomes trash. The cost to sort outweighs the value of the material :pullinghair:
RS sounds like a fun day
PJ sounds like a lot of progress,
Randy glad mower is working
Kyle hope the situation resolves for everyone
Ken hand digging is a lot of work, did you find the leaks?
David hope the meds work
RS way to go
Drew a lot of places have been doing the pick up and drop off for car work around here, definitely worth the call
Drew I would ask why are they sending you that info if it is not a bill.
Buppies good news
prayers for all especially Drew, Jay/wife, Kyle's daughter and situation, and Country
stay safe and healthy you all

You guys mind sharing which company is filing liens rather than waiting on insurance?
St Luke's Hospital - Houston

It was the type of surgery generally associated with an accident. They took the lien out because they thought I would settle and not pay the medical bill. They dropped the lien after I went storming to their office. #1 surgery was not the result of an accident and #2 already paid my deductible before surgery on the insurance.

Apparently a lot of people in Houston get a settlement after an injury accident and then spend the money instead of paying their hospital bill.

Good news on wife's negative results.

Another pretty good day. Progress in the small equipment part of tracrorshed, probably about half thru the clean up part. Told wife, I am seriously thinking of offering some stuff on Freecycle or for free on CL rather than tossing. Lots of wire, cables, and conduit from the redone electrical projects.

Amazing how thick the grass in dogs’ area - maybe cuz it’s the best fertilized.

Enjoyed catching up with friends on Zoom Happy Hour, but everyone is missing our in person gatherings.

Governor moved quarantine restriction on visitors to Sep 1, further delaying state recovery. Still 0 cases in our zip code and new cases seem to be occurring on Konaside not ourside.

As I recall they turned over a bill I had paid to a debt collection agency.

I had a similar problem...
In 2016, my pacemaker went south...ended up in a local hospital being monitored while waiting for a room to be available at Dartmouth-Hitchcock in Lebanon NH.
Finally got transferred and spent the night at D-H before having my pacemaker replaced the following day.
Long story short, D-H claimed I was an outpatient and had to pay for the room out of pocket. Apparently they didn't submit the whole bill to my insurance company...their screw-up
I still get an occasional call from a collection agency. My response is, basically, what I wrote above and insisted on ALL documentation...which I've never received.
Haven't paid the "bill" and have no intention of doing so...we'd go to court first.
D-H is supposed to be a good hospital, but their administration has had problems for years

A thunderstorm is passing by as I type this...quite a bit of lightning. After getting out of bed, I was closing a window when a bright flash of lightning hit...boy, that'll wake ya up fast!!

Good morning, quite a chilly damp start to the day, could be time to burn a few more sticks come this evening.

Bear came thru backyard yesterday evening ...
 Puts our wabbit problem into perspective !

The government has just announced that wearing face masks while in shops becomes mandatory for us from next week. Lots of childhood experience wearing a mask, though my "Lone Ranger" black one never did much to protect my identify, let alone a virus :)

My wife has been making masks, maybe a little more practice needed at wearing one
