I've quit using a quick hitch on any PTO driven equipment. IMHO the QH just gets in the way of hooking up the PTO shaft.

Hasn't bothered me a bit...
Lot easier hooking up an implement though

A snowy 28ºF with intermittent periods of hazy sun for today's low temperature. For a while it was snowing heavily dropping 0.5 of snow. It is 34ºF with snow mixing in with the increasing sunshine presently and the wind is picking up. The temperature may reach the high 30º's this PM. The NWS has a Wind Advisory, an unnecessary Freeze Warning, and a Hazardous Weather Warning for both. It is a raw day outside today. Face masks are now mandatory at our Town's transfer station.

Drew- It's really hard not to focus on one's health when one feels like a pincushion as well as a research guinea pig as the Specialists try to figure what is going on. Good luck with the continuing studies and tests. Hang in there. My heightened + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Randy- A-10's are my favorite jet. The 104 Fighter Wing's A-10's used to be stationed at Westfield, MA . They would fly maneuvers over our place. I was fly fishing a narrow ravine of the Westfield River when 1 A10 came roaring up the ravine, barrel rolled over the ridge before me and barrel rolled back again behind me.:cool:

David- I am sorry to read about Sophie's ongoing eye problems. My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Phil- We get ~20"'s of snow in Chesterfield, MA where we were living at the time with that storm.

"...As much as I like snow, I only like to see it from November to April."- Bill I agree. We start planting our garden around Memorial Day weekend.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

I have same model as you. But do not use QH for most attachments. QH moves weight back farther for my small tractor.

That's a point...
The 4520 is quite a bit heavier than a Kubota 2910, plus the FEL (or suitcase weights) do a good job at counter-balancing any of my implements (which consist of a snow blower (700+ pounds), 72" flail mower (600 lbs. or so) and chipper (estimate 650 lbs.)).
I find the QH helps a lot. I gave my rotary cutter to a deer camp a few years ago...that implement was the biggest PITA to hook up. The QH helps a lot with the other implements I still own...
But, to each his own...

Good Morning!!!! 69F @ 7:30AM. Partly cloudy. High around 95F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

I don't know much about power chairs, Drew, but a friend of mine has an electrically operated lift on the back of his small motorhome he uses to haul his motorcycle. The rail on it could easily be replaced with a platform for such a chair. In use, he lowers the rail to the ground, rolls the motorcycle on, then straps it down. Then he raises the lift and locks it in place. You could easily drive the power chair on and use a couple of ratchet straps to secure it.

Otta be a law about having snow last this late into the year. Rain out here qualifies as well, and I see it for a handful of days in the ten day forecast. Just in time to interfere with the solar system installation.:muttering:

The National Guard is supposed to fly a few T38s over Chico and Oroville around noon today, and I'll keep and eye and ear out for them. I saw a pair practicing over the canyon earlier in the week, two pitch black 'planes that were louder than anything commercial were hard to miss. Seems an odd way to honor the service medical personnel, but what do I know?

Sorry to hear about the delay in Sophie's eye surgery, David. Our local hospital has laid off personnel due to non-emergency surgeries being postponed or cancelled. More CoVid-19 fallout. Seems like it's a little late to test her after she's already flown to another island, but like I said, what do I know?:confused2:

The hummers stay here all year, Phil, and get along just fine as long as they have nectar. They shelter in the pine trees, I guess it doesn't take much room to keep a hummingbird dry.

Yesterday's high was 93F, and after finishing as much of the conduit installation as I could stand, and moving the generator down to the pad and getting it off its shipping pallet, I decided to change a siesta plan to soaking under the outside shower and sipping ice cold beer. All the dirty, sweaty clothes were replaced with a pair of running shorts and some flipflops, and that hot shower felt great. Sitting in the sun in a light breeze felt even better. Funny how after one beer I was dry and getting hot again, so another beer and another dunk under the shower was in order. Bodyshop neighbor texted he was at the grocery store and asked if I needed anything, to which I replied "margarita mix"! He was over a half hour later and we enjoyed a late Cinco deMayo celebration.

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

When I lived 3.5 hours south of here, the gardening rule of thumb was never plant anything in the ground before Victoria Day/May 24/Memorial Day. Now I am further north and the D-I-L wants plants in the ground now. Nope, not happening until at the very least June 1, the stepson knows the routine, now lets see if he follows it or plants everything twice.

Drew, sorry to read about your troubles. If, you ever want to talk about it, I'm sure many here will be sympathetic to it...including myself. Prayers.

Sophie, prayers for your eyes and getting the help you need.

Rich, thanks for the pic. Feet up, slideways!

Hard to believe youz guyz are getting snow and frost. It is 65F with north winds blowing pretty good.

Wng, I won't lie. I eat some form of Tex Mex food probably 3 times a week.

"Weird Al" Yankovic - Taco Grande - YouTube

I'm trying to get things together to go do some honey doos for my mom. She wants the north side of her house cleaned, and the gutters on her carport are full of debris.

Have been picking yellow squash, tomatoes are bigger than a silver dollar- still a month away probably. Need to trim the yard.

Have a blessed day all.

34F and seeming like the sun is trying really hard to peek through ... but not quite making it. High today supposed to reach 47F.

Ten degrees higher tomorrow for the high ... but 50% chance of rain ... :(

We got a little snow overnight - similar to Rich, but maybe a little less - and it's already melted and gone.

Thomas ... the deer look well fed and healthy ...

Rich ... nice view ... although I imagine you'd prefer it without the white stuff at this point.

Beautiful tree Ron ... we have a number with a similar look scattered around here ... but as they're all volunteers/wild, none of them are quite as shapely as that specimen of yours.

As Roy says you might need a longer PTO shaft to use the QH with the chipper. Another (cheaper) option is to pick up a PTO shaft extender (F--->M), to make up the additional distance - which is what I do (having already cut the PTO Shafter before I had the QH) There are different lengths, brands etc. ... just try and find one fits securely on the PTO shaft on the tractor. TSC did carry some ... no idea on what they currently stock though. The one I got from Agri-Supply is a little sloppy on the fit on its female end. This (below) is NOT the one I got (so it may have a better fit) ... but it appears to be about the right length to make up for the addition of a QH:

Pto Adapter 1-3/8" 6 Spl Male And Female| Agri Supply 1?6?79

Billie sorry hear about your feeders. Maybe Boo Boo will move on in search of better pickings ?

Drew no idea on the power chairs I'm afraid but I hear you on the back/staying vertical issues ... hoping they can get things sorted out where the PC isn't necessary.

LS ... sounds like you have your work "cut out" for you ... :D

David ... hope your wife gets her eye issues sorted out to a good conclusion.

Roy ... you couldn't pry my QH from my cold, dead hands ... along with a few other things.

Hope everyone stays warm and safe - have a productive and enjoyable day.

66°F and .07 inches rain

Plan to get back on tractor and hopefully finish mowing my far side.

Hope Drew’s showing went well and we’ll be planning his next adventure.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

My wife reminded me it's Blackberry winter...cold weather when the blackberries bloom...which they are doing here.
Interesting that you mention blackberries. I had to stop at the weekly farmers market this morning for tomatoes, but they also had strawberries and blackberries that looked good. And now my wife just put her blackberry cobbler in the oven.:dance1:

And I just finished mowing the yard.

Chipper weighs 990lbs. My Flail weighs over 700lbs. A B2910 likes those weights as close as possible to rear axle.

About 15 minutes after my previous post it started raining, hasn’t let up so no way I’m mowing today. Grass is already thick, adding wet isn’t a positive.

Ned to season and vac seal the NY strips I got yesterday, minus the 2 keeping out for Mother’s Day.

Never tried QH on 3pt, only used as QA on front to use 3pt stuff, particularly my extended boom pole or land rake.

My garden start took a hit overnight. Had a tray trying to start Kabocha, Zucchini, and watermelon seeds. Something found a feast ☹️ have to try again.

Drew, Sophie had a powerchair when she first got out of hospital from her accident and used it several years. Very very handy for her as she didn’t have full use of either arm and all it took was a bit of joystick control.
But in some ways it was also a PITA, she could never have managed it by herself. Can’t remember name, but not a cheap model. Large battery pack was removable and chair collapsed like a regular wheelchair. No way she could lift either, but I could fit in truck of car, not every trunk. But as much a PITA it was her chair of choice compared to her manual chairs. She also had some special cushion for it, also prescribed. When she had progressed this was also a better chair for her own self entry/exit, very stable. Battery charger was bulky and heavy as well and had to recharge daily. I would imagine the newer stuff is much better as hers was 1999. She could maneuver throughout 1st floor of our small house and once I installed ramps outside as well, even going up and down side of street or visiting a neighbor (we lived Atlanta area then). We actually kept the chair and it is stored in shed (likely in poor shape after 15 years) as her ortho cautioned she could likely need it in later years. A major consideration when we designed/built this house, 36in doors, no halls, wide passage in kitchen, rollin showers, all this concrete, etc. Should that day ever come I wouldn’t hesitate to get her another, newer of course. And yes, insurance does cover.

Best of luck and prayers my friend.

I don't think people are too good at this social distancing thing. I was out mowing at the farm and saw a neighbor and his dad. It seemed rude not to stop and say hello. Dad had to keep telling his son to step back. I don't think it is natural. An older gentleman who was delivering Mothers day flowers rang the door bell and I almost opened the door until I remembered and asked him to leave them outside. We still have the virus spreading around our county. I need to get better at this stuff.

Went back to Home Depot to return bathroom cabinet. It was just too flimsy. You would think $80 for a small cabinets it would have more wood. Cardboard back plastic doors - couldn’t see the display model it was too high.

The Weekend crowd at HD was not as cautious as the weekday shoppers, Very crowded and 75% no Mask. Good thing I just had to go to the return checkout.

Did mom’s grocery shopping different quality TP was available and got every thing on her list except yeast.

I’m making my own sourdough yeast but I’m only on day 4 of 5.

I agree, Chris, just not natural. Also a reason I think Hawaii is at low end of cases and deaths - a very close society strong and hugging, kissing, being close. There have been a number of studies linking the benefits of touch, I think nearness is a factor as well.I hope in aftermath there is a way to evaluate. My personal thinking is you can relate to how youngsters of today just don’t have the immune strength of we older people who grew up eating dirt, being exposed to who knows what, and constantly up close with people and our pets. I have read that some studies have seen this link. I think it extends to some of these newer diseases as well.
That said, I am practicing

Contrary to what I said previously decided to mow. Remembered that area was mowed more recently than area I just finished so hopefully not as thick. Also not as many slopes to be cautious when wet. Taking a break now, had to refuel, but about 1/4-1/3 done. Will finish my beer and head out for another hour or so.

Still not sure about the TBN website...seems that I am getting pop-up spam attempts when I connect using laptop...urgent messages to update Adobe Flashplayer, or Norton antivirus sometimes when I connect...never happens when I go to any other website.

Have you looked into the Tapatalk app? That what I use on iPhone and iPad to interface TBN, TNT, Welding Site and a number of others. Polaris Ranger, Corvette, PowerStroke, Woodworking, etc.

Good evening all. 51F for the start, mostly sunny near calm wind. Wind picked up past forecast, sky stayed mostly sunny, and high temp 71F. Bike ride this morning, 4 1/2 hours in saddle, 64.5 miles. Forgot to unclip at early stop and proceeded to fall over on that side, Broke one bolt and wounded my pride. Was able to quiet loose parts and minimize fender on tire rubbing. Soaking bolt in penetrating oil. will be easier to remove broken bole with rack out of way. Did get short nap in.
