Seems like they could let 1 play at a time, or a husband and wife together. Anyway, more room for you.
Good morning to all! Low of 30 last night, a few sprinkles, then a few snow flakes... really? Forecast has us going up to 63 today with some breezes. They say sunny, but right now total cloud cover..... I guess we will see....
Quote- - - Kyle - - - “ My wifey is not much of a green thumb, but I have instilled a little bit of it in my daughter. Pines looks good, I'm guessing you'll keep them in the pots? They will grow to big to be planted there??? Maybe they'll grow tall and straight like pine trees do? “
First off, the wifey corrected me... the pines will be in their 5th season, not 4th. They will stay in those containers for at least another year, probably 2. Then they will get planted in the ground. We have found growing them in containers drastically improves their survival “ in the wild “. If I can remember, I will take pics of the ones that were planted in the ground 3 years ago, and the ones 2 years ago.
We tried planting a seedling bed of 50 - 12 inch tall ones about 5 years ago... the critters broke in to the area and ate / chewed every single one down to ground level, something dug up about half of the roots. That was when we started to do the containers. I have watched rabbits chew the bark off of 2-3 ft tall trees when the snow has been bad, naturally killing the tree.
They do grow relatively upright / straight, but they are not the Lodge Pole pines that are really straight up. These are Afghan Pines, primarily used for windbreaks.
Sorry to get so long winded..... the high desert has many challenges, especially when it comes to growing things....
Thanks for the info. I noticed not too many trees in your area from the videos.
49-52 today, showers right now.
My cardiologist called late yesterday. I’m going in and out of A-fib, had a bad spell this morning, feel better now. My pulse went from 144 down to 63, the up and down is rough. Got some meds to level it out, hope it works.
You guys have been busy! Hope all your projects come together.
Happy anniversary BEF and wife.
Stay safe folks. Prayers.
prayers Randy, hope y'all get it figured out.
I've been eyeing a PTO powered mixer that rides on the TPH, with a 12 cubic foot barrel. It uses a hydraulic cylinder to raise the barrel, and you can drive around with the tractor to get in position to pour directly into the forms. Right now I have to dump into a wheelbarrow because the wheels on the mixer won't let the barrel get close enough to dump directly. And my mixer will only hold about a cubic foot of concrete.
Not too coincidentally, the strips I'm pouring are 13' long, about the same width as a driveway. I have about 1000' of gravel driveway, and if I do one 4' wide pour a day, it would only take me 250 days to finish...:laughing:
First, you're making me feel lazy. Rains have us sopped in. That mixer is cool. Got me thinking about a home made 55 gal drum mounted to the FEL, if your tractor can handle the weight....You could have good reach, and dump control with a joy stick. Make it where the 55 gal drum could be exchanged with a new one easily. Also, you could lower it close to the ground if you're shoveling materials into it.
Concrete drive eh? Whew....
