Drew- I ate bear a couple of times at a really decent German Restaurant during their game month specials. It was marinated like sauerbraten and cooked the same way as a thickened stew (to mask the grease) and cartelized onions (to mask the grease). The restaurant still has game nights in October/November, but now the menu entrees are more limited. Nice azaleas.

I did not post (or remember posting) yesterday that the local butcher/smokehouse is alive and well and reported a 300% increase in his business. It was a nice ride for the dog and I was able to stock up on some frozen meat products yesterday.

Good morning All. It was 42 and cloudy today at dawn. 45 right now with a steady rain that started at 10 am. Went to the gas station yesterday and got 10g of regular for the zt mower @ $1.959 and 10g of off-road diesel for the tractor @ $2.199.

Very sorry to hear of anyone close to any of the group contracting the virus. Prayers for healing for the sick, strength and wisdom for the medical staffs, and continued good health for the rest of us.

I've been on TBN so long that I'm probably repeating myself at times, but . . . Many years ago, one Saturday I was mowing the yard and my wife came out for something and told me that "one of needs to go to the store today." Naturally, I asked, "What do you need?" I think she said she had a list, but I know she said something about being out of ground meat or hamburger. Well, it was a busy Saturday, so when I got through outside and got a shower, she had supper ready; very good pot of chili. And later that evening, I remembered her being out of hamburger, so I asked her if she want to the store and she said she had not. So I said, "I thought you said you were out of ground beef." And she said, "We are." So naturally I ask how did you make that chili? And she said, "Half moose and half bear." My younger brother had been down to visit from Alaska and had brought us some moose steaks and a bear roast, as well as ground meat of both. I cooked that bear roast on the outdoor grill. It was a little tough, but otherwise quite good. But I guess meat from a record sized old black bear could be expected to be a little tough.

Never had Moose. Bear in stew a few times. I remember the bear had to be cooked slowly for a long time to be chewable. I'll stick with venison, not much for the smaller animals, all taste gamey to me. Anyone tried wild goose?I used to see the old timers from eastern europe wandering out of a park near where I used to live with a goose on each shoulder looking quite happy. Bet it doesn't taste anywhere as good as domestic goose.

Went through decontamination when I got home (clothes in washer and long hot soapy shower). Also sprayed hands with 91% alcohol before getting in the car at each stop. Had to go to Walmart and HEB. More items are getting re-stocked. At both store there was rice and a very small amount of dried beans. TP was at Walmart, the person ahead had 2 pkgs in her cart. The person behind us had enough chips and little white doughnuts to last a year. Produce sections are restocked in both stores. There was a line at HEB to enter the store so we went to Walmart first and by the time we returned to HEB at 10 A. M. there was no line but when I was leaving a line was starting to form. Checkers had on gloves and at the door HEB was passing a wipe to everyone. Everybody kept their 6' distance and were polite. We got $150 of groceries we can hibernate for 3 weeks but really need to get fresh fruit and vegetable every week and replenish what we use to always stay 3 weeks ahead. If thousands get the virus in our town we can stay in for 3-4 weeks.

The Texas health services site has not updated and the governor will be on TV shortly. Wazzzz-up?

RNG, when was the last time hydr fluid was changed? Also does the bota have a screen filter? I hope you find the source of the issue without much difficulty. Were you not looking for a new tractor? Maybe the old gal got wind of that....

The only reason this tractor needs to break is for someone to try and use it.:muttering:

I've been shopping for a track loader, but I'm having trouble justifying $30K+ for one with more than 1000 hours on it. I was hoping to use it as a tractor replacement, but since there's no PTO or TPH, I was giving some thought to just putting the Kubota into semi-retirement and only use it for tasks that require the TPH/PTO. Or the backhoe, but putting on and taking off the 'hoe is such a PITA, I think a better idea is to replace the tractor with one of Kubota's dedicated TLBs that are designed to make 'hoe swapping relatively easy. But that's a big economic shock in economically uncertain times. Life is short, though, and eliminating that irritation of a tractor from my life would be a major improvement.:2cents:

It's a Grand Cherokee limited and only goes off road in fields. Do they make these calipers out of plastic :-( Do have 110,000 on it, but my old truck never had a caliper fail in close to 150,000.

That doesn't sound right, Ken, especially if it's been getting brake fluid changes every year. I don't have any experience with Jeeps, but I have lots of experience with old brake fluid, and it's all bad...:thumbdown:

RNG- I bet a hot clothes iron would be hot enough to sterilize paper envelops. Thanks for the PSA. I've read quite a few and thankfully they were all consistent.

I may give the hot iron a try today, Jay, if I can find it. It's been a while since I've owned any clothes that require ironing!:laughing:

That's a BIG solar array! How well does it work with all that snow on it, and how do you get it off?

I suppose we're bound to see more and more improvised survival solutions being passed around on social media, but this may be one of the strangest ways I've seen to use an Instant Pot.
