currently 43F here and light rain- had .8 inches yesterday, but sun came out so I got a bit of chipping done. ready to plant soon. trying to figure out what to replace our dying spruce with. Seems we had so much rain the Spruces lower branches turned brown and it went up the whole tree. Still cutting and splitting all the fallen Ash trees, had 4-5 fall and another 10-12 that look like they will soon. The Emerald Ash Borer is devastating the Ash's, some were 80 feet and higher.

No guests, Eric. We stopped advertising last year, but still host friends and family of neighbors and prior guests who return, like the Canadians. Our longterm Cottage residents are still here waiting to break ground on their on place.

"They are not."

Not legal? Why?

Rick- I am sorry to be confusing. They are legal in MA. I incorrectly believed them to be illegal.

Ken- Welcome to GM. I had a tree service take out quite a few of the ashes surrounding our house due to EAB. The EAB has already spread up the CT River Valley and spreading. The tree service left a decent healthy ash as a "Specimen Tree" and treated it for the AEB. The past two years of record breaking rain has really stressed our trees which has led to our older beeches getting some kind of virus and dying, and some kind of weevil nailing all our spruces.

Cottage John has reported in that the new catchment at cottage is working fine, tank filled, 1st flush & filters performing as planned. He’s happy, so am I.

I had a tree service take out quite a few of the ashes surrounding our house due to EAB.

Back in 2014, the National Park Service preemptively removed somewhere in the neighborhood of 800 ash trees from the park grounds surrounding the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial (a.k.a. The Gateway Arch). At the time, I thought that was going a bit overboard. However, seeing how that little bug has decimated that particular tree on such a large scale, it seems their vision back then was better than mine.

Signed my retirement release forms using eSign this morning after waking up retirement day3 at 7am (bathroom visits 5am, 6am).. also woke up, but didn't get out of bed at my normal alarm time and watched the time that is project on ceiling change minute to my normal alarm time.. our bodies are well designed.

Sounds like most are staying busy.

Stay safe, prayers for all

Paul- EAB's are starting to nail the ashes around here. I have had EverSource contracted tree services here off/on since last week cutting down more trees along the roadside. It looks like they are focusing on Ashes and deadwood.

Hawkeye- I am happy to see that you are starting to adjust to a different schedule yet to be defined. Once we program our bio-cycles it takes a while (or longer) to reprogram them. I still get up before dawn probably for different reasons than my work schedule. Today it was 1:45AM.

The Big Green Egg's temperature has stabilized at 200ºF and now it's time to smoke the ribs that I jerked last night. I'll probably reduce the temp down a bit. Hopefully in about 4 hours I'll have a decent product. Wifey is making potato salad. She makes a really good potato salad (just like Mom's:rolleyes:)

Not a bad way to distract myself.

Hawkeye, and it even gets better!

I hate waking up in the middle of the night; me too, usually for the bathroom, at 2am and then I lay back in bed and my mind is going
a mile a minute. All I can do is grab my Kindle and read, sometimes that puts me to sleep, sometimes it doesn't. Have been in the kitchen many times
it seems lately at 4am looking for coffee. Last night I only got five hours of sleep. Maybe I dozed a bit later and didn't realize it.

Starbucks is shut down. Woe is us, though I'm too cheap to buy coffee there. All those folks hooked on those mocha lattes.
Those places always seem busy. Lot of revenue being lost, and if it's an outdoor business, say building in-ground pools, who can say they
should be exempted...and it's now your peak time for digging and building, and I'm guessing you will likely get pulled over if you pass an officer.
Same officer who probably had a dept. meeting explaining the new law to him, and told to go out and write some tickets. Those drivers need a get out of jail
card from their employers to keep in the vehicle.

have worked most of day cleaning up and vacuuming, and also hands and knees with a scrub brush getting all the dark spots out of the tan grout near the dishwasher
and stove. Worked pretty well. I have a dark brown vinyl comfort pad under the sink area. Moved that over so I could kneel on it and that sure
helped. That tile doesn't give much, hard on my feet and back. Looks good though and easily cleaned. So I was zwiffering away too today, cleaning up floor after using that
strong cleaner on it. And you start one spot and you keep going just because you can and the wipe isn't too dirty yet. Today was a three wipe day.
More than I call fun.

Photographer comes early next week for interior pics. So much to do. One more closet to go, guest bedroom closet.
Has about half a dozen kites in it not put back in properly, probably a big tangle. Dealing with that is why it hasn't gotten done yet.
But the list is getting shorter and Javier my helper comes Saturday to do all the carrying and loading into the truck. Meanwhile it can't look like a horrible mess
when Mrs Buyer opens the closet door and is appalled at the mess. Sigh. The sins of one's past are revisited upon us.
