Good morning, the temp is 16°F and going to a high of 28. Wind E 8 mph. Partly sunny, 60% chance of flurries.

The below freezing temps will slow the melt down. I have a road about 1/2 mile from me that floods every year. The township really needs to rebuild it and raise it about 4'. Will they do it? Nope. Too cheap. Not last fall but the fall before, the township contracted out some surface treating for our main road to the lowest bidder. That was two weeks before I got home for winter. What a mess! The surface treatment oil/tar wouldn't stick to the crappy gravel they supplied and within that two weeks the stuff lifted. I wonder how many windshields they paid for? Every road, except for the road going into the township offices was redone and so far it has held up. I put 50% of the blame on the township and the other 50% on the company that did the job. The road was too cold and the overall weather was not warm enough to surface treat. The company I work for says that the road temp MUST be at least 50° F and above. Anti-strip goes into every load of tar.

Have a safe day all

Good Morning,

I hear the 5:30 freight train in the distance. Horns on all the crossings. The owls are calling each other in the back, probably sharing last nights meal plan.

Today is delivery day. Wife is more excited about it than I. Kept asking me about it the last few days. I am trying to figure put where to put it. I don't like keeping equipment in the weather. The B, when I sold it after 13+ years still looked new. Gotta take care of stuff.

With the weather, nice and warm going on here. 48 now heading to mid 50's. Every plant we have around the house is in blooming stages. Daffodils took a beating again this year with the frost.

Hope all have a good day, be safe.

Good morning,

Got almost all of the propane trench filled yesterday, and the 4x6 block idea worked fairly well for compacting the dirt. At least I think it did; how do you tell?:confused3:
Unscientifically, a good sign is when all the soil goes back in the trench and you need to bring in more. On the other hand, a mound on the top "for the rain to settle", is proof it needed more whacks (or more likely, built up in thinner layers).

I guess you knew that RNG, you just wanted us to take our time over breakfast on pondering the merits of differing compaction tests. Well after much thought over a cup of tea and a bowl of cereal, next time I dig out a rotten gatepost and tamp in a new one, I will be more inclined to use your "California Test 216" "Method of Test for Relative Compaction of Untreated and Treated Soils and Aggregates", instead of the usual ASTM D968...

Riptides, nice to hear from you and hope everything is looking up.
54 going up to 75 today in clouds, rain forecast disappeared.
off to dentist first, then later realtors come. Think I may push back listing date a little until I start feeling better.
Still have lots to do and no energy to do it.

After seven days of feeling good, got up to use bathroom at 2am and terribly dizzy, had to hold onto walls in bathroom. That seems
to have gone away now. Will be very happy when someone gives me a credible diagnosis.

Nice to see folks getting new tractors. Lots of pics please.
Hope you all have a nice day.

I am backtracking through a half year of posts. Futile at best.

Tick bite? Get tested for Alpha-Gal. My daughter came down with that a few years ago. You eating meat and feeling like that hours later?

And your putting your place on the market? I was fond of your stories and all that work you did.

Hope you feel better today. Stay positive.

Up a bit early today...too early...

37 right now...high about 40 today.
Company I work for is going through significant changes. I had to provide all my typical activities and responsibilities in writing yesterday...got a bad feeling about this...

Ugh. Will keep fingers crossed for you. Trust your instincts.

Isn't it weird companies always ask employees what they do? They employ us, what do they think we do? Management sometimes makes you just roll your eyes.

We had a wild fire alert a few days ago.

Then the Marine base made a controlled burn. Made the news and the radar reports. People were instructed NOT to call 911. It was that much smoke.

Lucky I was downwind. LOL.

Personally I thought the conditions to be too dry for that burn, but it is the government! All things BIG. LOL.

Hope your doing OK!
