Good Morning Everyone!!!

A clear and sunny 75ºF for today’s low temperature; a clear and sunny 80ºF presently; and I anticipate a mostly clear and sunny afternoon with high temperature in the low 80ºF’s.

The TBN popups/cookies are in Spanish down here.

RNG- Good luck with the vibration suppression mount. That challenge ended the further development of my “Flying Cuisinart.” Oxidized tires does not indicate storage in a climate controlled environment, but I am no expert. That Williets looks to be a decent weekend project.

Phil- Good luck with the drip. :(. I try to avoid ladders if possible. Take care up there.

Wngsprd- I have yet to set up my rodent trapline at home. Surprisingly I saw no real evidence of cohabitation with rodents before we left.

Don- Every dinger seems to cost $1K(USD) nowadays :(

Mostly- I hope your Wife’s knee recovers from it’s tweak. Ted and I can relate.:(

Down here I feel like I am missing personal events in this thread. It is not my intention to ignore anyone. I’ll straighten my act out once back home Tuesday; I may have a couple of inches of snow waiting. From tropical paradise to arctic icepack. Airports, airplanes, and hospitals breed/concentrate all kinds of “bugs”; one may have caught me.:(

Nothing really planned for today. I was experimenting last night with the WIFI connection between my iPhone and my Olympus camera. I was using my iPhone to control the camera to minimize/eliminate long exposure shake. Apparently it works. I’ll be playing around with this today. There is a plant that is attracting hummingbirds right off our deck; maybe I can set up the camera on its 4” tripod and get a pic.

I hope that everyone had a decent weekend so far and today works out as planned.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

37 right now...high about 40 and a wind advisory.
Like yesterday, no plans unless wifey comes up with something...

Good morning to all! Low of 26, going up to 45 today. Unfortunately the wind has picked up due to a big storm to the north of us. 30-35 mph with gusts to 55! That scrubs all outside plans.....

Jay, sorry to read about Peg ‘ s fall and subsequent injury. :(. Hope she is able to suppress the pain and continue to enjoy your trip. Seems like vacation are over almost as soon as they start!

Randy, glad you got home, at least you will be more comfortable with the surroundings.... Ellen will spoil you rotten

Mostly, sorry to hear of the wife’s knee.... I know way too much about knee pain....

Everyone in the path of story, windy, or snowy weather, stay safe and comfortable!

Have a great Sunday, prayers sent.

Ted- Thanks and thanks to all for the +'s.

Peg is doing pretty well thanks to the pain and anti-inflammatory medications prescribed. Unfortunately the meds mess with her stomach = no coffee and/or booze :(. In the land of coffee and guarro (primitive rum) and not being able to drink it must be torturous. She as a coffee lover is not complaining.

Jay, maybe you could smuggle....eh, I mean bring back both in your suitcases.... you have plenty of clothes at home anyway....:D

   / Good morning!!!! #103,611
Drew, while I am thinking of Jay smuggling that guarro, I was thinking of your trip out this way.... we also see many an RV pulled over by the police. I know it is not because they were going too fast .... I-40 and I-25 are major drug running routes.

Jay, maybe you could smuggle....eh, I mean bring back both in your suitcases.... you have plenty of clothes at home anyway....:D

I had an oversized suitcase to carry needed work related supplies to our jungle basecamp. It was empty for my return home. My record for CR coffee beans is 17 kilos ;). Much of it was intended as gifts, but that never happened :embarrassed::cool:;).

We got nailed by having an overweight suitcase the last time, but were able to repack our luggage to make weight. Maybe a tag sale or clothes donation??

Guarro is a little rough. Decent rum is better;)

Good Morning!!!! 37F @ 5:30AM. Sunny to partly cloudy. High 56F. Winds light and variable.

Sounds like quite a misadventrure, Jay, Peg sounds like quite a trooper to stick with the vacation. When my left wrist was broken, the first cast was shaped such that I couldn't touch my thumb to my forefinger, making that hand pretty much worthless. The cast was also too tight, and as the hand swelled, the pressure was unbearable. Went back to the hospital, and they recast it. This time, before the plaster set, I wiggled my fingers and got my grip back. Mine was a novicular break, notorious for not healing because of low blood flow in that area. Ended up having surgery to have a screw installed to hold the bone ends together. Two years later it was still painful, but the doctors at Kaiser could find nothing wrong. That year at re-enrollment time, I opted out and found a real doctor, who discovered that the screw had not been set deep enough, and the head was rubbing on the bone next to it. Another surgery followed to remove the screw, and it's been fine ever since. Doctors, even surgeons, come in all grades, just like mechanics, plumbers, and car salesmen. Since then I've been much more reluctant to take "no" for an answer when told "oh, it's just you getting old".

I also had a full rack of baby back ribs in the saddle bag when I had that accident. Called a buddy of mine to come get me out of the hospital, and when we got to my place, he hitched a trailer up to my truck and we got the bike back out of the impound lot that same evening. The ribs were still warm and tasted great.:licking:

I hit something on the freeway with that 5 Series BMW, Drew, but CarFax never found out. So you might want to get the report when you go to sell your truck so you can see for yourself. And I wouldn't worry so much on your way west about being stopped by a trooper. Nobody's smuggling dope to California these days. It might be another matter once you turn east though, especially with those North Carolina plates. I also wonder if you can even purchase legal marijuana in California as an out of stater. They way it's been rolled out, there are no state wide guidelines, and each locality seems to be making up the rules as they go. It's still illegal at the federal level, something to keep in mind when it comes time to cross into Nevada, Oregon, or Arizona.

Hope the wind stays brisk for you, Wng, and you figure out how to give your Pepes a final send off real soon.

When I travel on the motorcycle, I like to stay within walking distance of a good restaurant. Google maps makes it pretty easy to set that up, and that's what I did yesterday for next Friday night. The Cinderella Motel is an old style Route 66 type place where you can park right next to your room's door, and the Grillin' and Chillin' Alehouse is only a fifteen minute walk away. To stay out of trouble, I used the Street View feature to make sure there were sidewalks along my intended route, and that the areas looked safe as well. I've done that in the past, and it lends a weird sense of Deja Vu during the evening stroll...

The new battery didn't cure the cold start issue on the van, but then I remembered that you're supposed to retrain the computer after the battery is disconnected. That involves turning the ignition on and waiting a bit for the computer to tweak the Idle Air Control Valve, then letting the engine warm up for a half hour or so and repeating the process. Did that again yesterday, and have my fingers crossed it'll make a difference. Tried to trouble shoot parking brake and seatbelt warning lights that don't come on, but no easy answers presented themselves. The answer might lie in the bulb assembly itself, which contains a circuit board and a thirty-three year old transistor. I have two of the modules, and am not above jumpering around complicated German engineering to get something to work.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

RNG- If I understood the Dr. correctly Peg had a similar break, but it was 50:50 between casting and pinning/casting. I have her X-rays to take back to the USA. The Dr. did a good job getting Peg's wrist back into alignment. Time will tell.

One nice thing about Villa Calettas is that one really does not have to leave. The only challenge is finding one's room after a couple of libations.

Good morning All. A brisk, breezy, sunny 41 here now. Headed for just below 50.

I love all of the pictures lately and the wide expanse of experiences they represent. Here is a picture of our new puppy finally getting along with his older “sisters “.

IMG_0751.jpgHave a good Sunday.

Drew, I have traveled all the roads on your route. Never been pulled over. Close to 100K miles with motorhome.

RNG- I forgot to thank you for the "waterproof" cast protector information. I/We will definitely be going to a medical supply place upon our return.

It's hard to believe that RV'er's were such a wild bunch; but it does make sense that if the RV is your house on wheels the owner/operator would treat the RV as a home. I would not be surprised if there were bongs designed for RV gravel.

RonJH- Thanks for sharing the Hairy woodpecker pic. Thanks to this thread I can now id hairy's from downy's by bill length.

Frank- Thanks for sharing the picture of your pack and I am happy to read that your pup has learned his place in the hierarchy.

Newsflash: Paco's girlfriend's name is Margarita. Another female showed up, Paco moved away and the females had a brief tussle with the wayward female being driven off. I've never seen this before, nor did I know that they pair bond (which I need to research).

A gift from the maitre de this morning.

This guarantees a return visit. ;)
