Lots of car guys here. My first "car" was a 1951 Chevy 5-window pickup (my only Chevy truck ever), then a 53 Chevy Bellaire 2D HT, 57 Chevy 2D sedan 283 bored .020 over and cam, 40 Ford pickup w/ sm block Chevy , 66 Chevelle SS 396 / 375 HP, 67 Corvette 427 ..... then USAFSS for 4 years.

Most of you started with newer cars than I did. My first one was a green 2 door 1946 Chevy in 1956 with just a little under 100k miles on it when I got it. Dad paid $75 for it. And I hated that vacuum shift.

Drew, good job on the sweet potato story. Glad everyone was orderly.

Thank you all for the prayers.

RNG, sounds like you're getting the van nearly completed. Maybe you can follow Drew back to NC and then make your way back to CA on your own route?

I listened to our high school football team's 2nd playoff game last night on the radio. It is so nice to not have to leave the comfort of your home to hear the game. We won. I've chased them all over the state before. $$$

I cooked some Italian Egg cups this morning with our fresh eggs. Simple recipe. (Don, scroll past) Spray muffin pan with Pam. Line cups with Italian Capicolla sliced thin #1. Add 2 Tbl spoons of cheddar (I used sharp). Mash down cheese, make room and add 1 egg on top. I made some with whole egg, and made some with scrambled. I like the scrambled, my wife liked the whole. Preheat oven to 400F, place on center rack and cook for 15-18 minutes (until yoke is completely cooked.

Have a great day all. Prayers for our team.

I'm still experiencing the computer issues.... The replacement purchase will happen during the "Black Friday" sales. Some "sneak peek" reports are showing $50-100 off the current Apple prices this week. I can deal with my current frustration for another week. It will only make my patience stronger....

Sorry to hear about your computer issues, Ted.

FWIW, my last two Macs have came from B&H Photo Video. I found the Apple website so confusing two Black Fridays ago that I inadvertently ordered the wrong laptop, then had a miserable time trying to get that straightened out. Ended up just returning it, and getting exactly what I wanted from B&H, at a better price than Apple was offering. I also learned that year that the incentive items Apple was including in the deal were priced at least 20% above street price, so in reality they weren't very much of an incentive.

Earlier this year, I purchased another MacBook Pro from them, again at below Apple prices. Exactly as ordered, delivered in less than a week...:2cents:

You make it sound so easy, Kyle! Still LOTS to do now, kinda like getting the frame up on a house, then getting bogged down on all the little details.

I've had plans for a couple of years now to make a springtime trip across the southern tier of states, most of which I've never visited before. Might end up at Daytona for bike week, then down to the Keys, then north to take care of some lingering family business before a quick dash home.

Maybe Drew and I can wave as we pass going the other way on I10?

He’s an electrical engineer. I gave him the batteries with no promises if or how long they might work.

Might be a good day to sit in Ridgeline and familiarize.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

A mostly clear 26ºF for this morning’s low; mostly sunny 34ºF presently with continued upper level clouds; and I expect a mostly sunny PM with high temperature ~ 40ºF. Sometime later tonight the freezing rain begins changing over to rain tomorrow and back again to mixed precipitation as this system moves off the coast. The rain/mixed precipitation here all day yesterday made for little to no activity outside so Wifey and I went to the Clark Museum and ate out at one our favorite restaurants. Sadly their new menu dropped all my favorite entrees; not a good sign. Dump run completed. Plan for today move firewood and watch the Ohio State-PSU game which is just starting.

“… back is going to be hurting tomorrow but we boxed up just under a thousand pounds of sweet potatoes…. A good time was had by all, and those potatoes will be gone in days in the local community. I wonder what that pile will look like tonight or even if it's there.”- Drew My back is hurting just looking at that pile and boxes of spuds. I am happy that everything worked out as planned. I am sorry to read about your hearing. I am lucky that my “spring peepers” never go away, but they never get louder.

Hawkeye- I am sorry to read about your Daughter. When I have fractured my ribs or have torn ligaments due to coughing (and meds) the Dr’s would not prescribe pain meds due to my BOOP as they felt the pain meds would suppress my lung functions too much. I am happy that your Daughter can at least be medicated; really saddened by her pain. My + thoughts and prayers for your Daughter. I like what I am reading about your job options/opportunities. It looks like any decision that you make will have a + outcome. A win-win-winner setup is hard to beat.

“… Just one of my mentors, one of many but he was the Father, after too many years you develop your own style that is unique and I have been accused of being extremely unorthodox.”- Bunyip I agree and can relate. It’s easy to defend a + record of treatment outcomes. I’ve been accused of being idiosyncratic

Don- Thanks for sharing your Whipper walk. Nice looking buck. The last thing I want to see walking Brogen is a deer or any other wildlife for that matter.

Randy- Nice car pics. Thanks for sharing.

“… Had a few rough days with our autistic daughter. Hard to tell where her autism leaves off and her stubbornness takes over.”- Kyle I am sorry to read about your Daughter. It’s really hard to figure out and deal with the “secondary gains” component. Good luck. Your Italian egg cups reads to be good eats.

BEF- It seems that almost every day there is more evidence of your improving health. I hope & pray that you return to your full function w/o any neuropathy soon.

David- I am happy to read that you like your truck and that you and Sophie had a great celebratory dinner out together.

Ted- I am sorry to read about your computer challenges. Good luck with your new generator and thanks for sharing the garage picture. A nasty rain/mixed precipitation around here this coming Wednesday. Thanksgiving looks good for us here. It will be a good day to smoke a lamb roast and bake rosemary encrusted baked potatoes on the BGE.

Kyle, glad your HS Football team won. Ours lost last week at Regionals. Was a close, back and forth game

Lots of neat old cars. Being younger I can’t relate. Learned to drive in a 72 ford wagon. That was only car dad bought new, and it rusted out prematurely. Our last station wagon.

My first hand me down from dad was a 70s Buick electra with a 455. Before I graduated college dad bought me a used Chevy monza, which I paid for after I started working. Then I bought a new 85 Chevy S10 4x4 blazer.

After getting married got a used ford tempo. After a couple yrs I rebuilt the engine do to oil blowback. Had lots of help. Used my father in laws neighbors shop, so drove to VA every weekend to work on in.

Now Jay I'm sure we could pile on a few more words...;)
Let's ask your wife...
But you sure do a nice job of responding to folks.
Can be hard to do as this thread seems to go faster and faster.
Or I'm moving slower...

just came in and had to sit down. Hand dug a bucket of potatoes, red, white and blues, that I knew had reseeded in my raised garden bed by the house.
They weren't big and they were a little bug bit but I bet they'll be delicious.
And that is the very last thing in the ground. All done for the year.
Well, except for the parsley. Tough stuff, frost and temps down to 25 didn't do it in, munched on a couple of big pieces of it
while in the garden.

Also hauled load of junk/treasure to Good Will and then two old printers to the dump. Good Will wouldn't take any printers.
I kept the one Brother laser with the new cartridge, I'll find someone to give it to.

Had the last of my stew for lunch, boy that just kept getting better every day. Onions were sweet as candy.

"... Let's ask your wife..."- Drew :eek::rolleyes:

This is an active thread  It is really hard to keep up with all the posts and posters, but I really like to acknowledge everyone here for their posts and shared life stories. This is a great thread frequented by a lot of really smart and helpful posters who lead varied and fascinating lives and who are able to freely share their personal and family's triumphs and tragedies.

Maybe my experience running group therapy sessions in secure, psychiatric settings helps.;) Actually those (attempted) sessions were exercises in trying to simultaneously manage chaos and crowd control.

A real tragedy is going on out in Ohio State University's football stadium presently.:( This game is getting hard to watch.:(

David- Thanks for sharing your mental health day and pictures.
