Good morning!!!!

Good Morning!!!! 52F @ 5:30AM. A good deal of sunshine. High 76F. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph.
Looks like we return to the low 80s for the weekend, and most of next week. I'm not quite ready to see winter temps yet, and am happy to have a bit if Indian Summer hang around. Almost got up to put on a shirtjack yesterday evening while sitting on the patio, but moved my chair out into the sun instead. Then the breeze came up just as the sun was going down, and that was enough to drive me back inside the house. Hasn't been that cool around here for months!

The previous owner of this place put down tons of three quarter plus ballast rock on the driveway, and it didn't have any fines in it. It wouldn't hold on the steep slope, and riding a motorcycle on it was down right dangerous. I moved most of it to the pad where I park the tractor and implements, but I left some up by the gate, and on a little side pad half way down the drive. It's way deeper than it needs to be in those areas, and I'm thinkin' there might be enough extra to fill in behind the retaining wall. The down side is it's a fairly long trip for each bucket full, but as Thomas will soon find out, us retired guys have plenty of time. I just hope the tractor doesn't break again...

The code spoofer thingy for the van came yesterday, so I installed it and cleared the codes to turn off the Check Engine Light. Yep, there's an app for that. Since I only need a couple dozen or so more blocks, I'm thinkin' I'll take the van into town today and just stack 'em on a moving blanket. That'll give me a chance to see if the spoofer fixes the problem.

Got a short ride in on the red bike, but long enough to get the heads nice and hot. Ran really well, so well it was tough to keep the RPMs below 4000, which I should do for the first few hundred miles or so on the new rings. This morning I'll retorque the heads and reset the valves before heading off to town for groceries and errands. Then a longer ride for Saturday. I used the new helmet for the first time, and I really like the way it fits. Much more comfortable than the old one, and the eye port is bigger as well for more visibility. I normally wear earplugs, but not yesterday, and while it was louder in there than when using them, it was a lot quieter than without plugs in the old helmet. I think I'm keepin' the new one; a good thing because it would be a real PITA to send it back to the vendor in the Netherlands.

TGIF gang!:drink:

71 going to 80...cold front winds arrived here while I was outside watching "our" red tail hawk. Going down to mid 40s tonight. Burn ban took effect here today...don't remember having one of those before.

BEF, I laughed out loud reading your post about buying a Charger and being able to charge a phone with it.

Thomas, I'm delighted for you starting retirement...I bet it was a wonderful sunrise for you.

RNG, great job on the wall. BTW, was the B-17 that crashed in Conn. part of the tour you considered? I think 7 people perished.

Don, congrats on the Ranger. Years ago, I named one of my Brittany pups Ranger...but don't know much about the truck version. Thanks for sharing.

Go Astros! Not sure, but think I'm pulling for the Nats to win it all. But Verlander! might change my mind.

Got back from out of state. Had funeral and family gathering for my wife's dad. We have her mom here at our house right now.

It's been almost a month and a half since we had any rain. Today's temperature is 67 going for a high of 86, so I just now got the sprinklers going on the yard. We don't have as much water pressure as normal this morning, and I have no idea why unless a lot of people in the area are also watering their yards.

Well, I guess oldtimers disease is getting me. I finally realized the water pressure was OK, I had the wrong sprinkler on the end of the hose.:ashamed: Sure glad I didn't call the city to complain about the water pressure.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!!!

A rain showery 46ºF for today's low temperature; a drizzly, breezy, raw 49ºF presently; and I anticipate increasing sun, wind, and temps in the low 50ºF's later. Yesterday was my last dose of Prednisone; my body is not a happy camper today.

"Ad Astra" was a decent movie. I liked it, Wifey thought it was a little too long during the suspended animation intrastellar flight parts of the movie. We really like the restaurant that we went to last night. The food is always top notch. The dinner tables are too small and their dinner plates are way too large for the tables on a good day, but can be managed. I rarely eat raw oysters nowadays, but the Wellfleet oysters looked like really good eats and were. Then things started going downhill fast. Meals came before the apps and salads with absolutely no room for anything except for our laps and/or the floor. One is only as good as their last meal experience according to my chef friends.... I really do not know where the breakdown occurred. Not a good show.... I posted my/our experiences on TripAdvisor :(

Plan for today: Maybe remain a grumpy old curmudgeon and deal with the Prednisone “withdrawal." Maybe do an attitude adjustment and start puttering around getting everything ready for tomorrow’s anticipated killing frost and doing something (Don approved) different for dinner tonight.

RNG- Really nice stone block work. Thanks for sharing another one of your projects.

Thomas- Enjoy your day today.

Billy- My condolences for your FIL. My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for your MIL, you, and family. May he RIP. As of yesterday I believe that 7 people died in that B-17 crash. :( Local news covered it almost from the moment of the crash. :( My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for the dead, injured, their families, and friends.

I hope that everyone is having a manageable day, those healthy remain healthy, and those on the mend keep mending

My + thoughts and prayers.

Sorry about your wife’s dad.

I just reminded my wife I still need that phone charger. She prefers a challenger, I’m ok with that. Our son has our new pilot at school, so we just have the Subaru now , not counting the BAT mobile (Big Azz Truck) which she doesn’t want to drive.
When I start driving, will need another vehicle. I have 2 car payments now, but older son is buying the Elantra from me, making payments over 2 yrs.

66° and cool wind. Highs in 60s the next 10 days.

Got the found garage door remote working with new batteries. Still need to install the chain drive opener on the barn door. I shouldn’t be trying a ladder yet.

71°F and .52 inches rain.

Enjoyed going to there CERT potluck at neighbor’s. I steadfastly refuse to become a trained and certified member but have volunteered to be an unofficial resource. I think they like me for my tractor LOL

Off to town for a few errands and the PO then back to Tractorshed. My big generator is disconnected, ready to be moved and listed on Craigslist.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Tnank goodness, it wasn't "Sentimental Journey". The plane that crashed was painted, not the polished aluminum skin of the one I toured.

Condolences to you and your wife and her mother on the loss of your father in law. I hope he left many good memories behind.

Less than 1/4 “ rain in five weeks, grass was about ready to slow down anyway, drought stopped it altogether.

Wng, condolences for your extended family.

J-, no raw oysters for me. I'd rather do a motorcycle jump over 10 cars....at least I'd feel it would be safer.

Put 2 of my kids on the neighbor's plane. They just landed in Albuquerque. Barely ahead of a line of thunderstorms. Had me worried for a bit. Out of fingernails. You can watch the flight on flightaware. Really cool. Cruising at 225mph @ 16,000 ft altitude. What a way to compress and save time....

If only we'd all been born rich instead of so handsome.. :)

hawkeye, hope the back goes "back" into pain free mode.

Randy, knees can give the most pain and suffering I know. Hang in there.

STILL HOT. maybe 99F today. I'm off, but not doing much until maybe after 5pm.

We did get a short, strong storm last night just after sundown. About 1/4" rain. Yay!

Our middle daughter wants to make caramel apples today. Actually sounds pretty good.

Roy, I'm guessing you're feeling better.

RNG, looking at your tractor, I don't think you're going to find any mainstream tractor to be made that much stronger than what you have. Your's must be a little wollered out. I can buy some shims to take out some of the slop in mine. glad the red bike is running good.

Don, those trails you are blazing need some pavers for wheelchair accessibility. :)

Astros about to take on those "pesky" Rays. My new neighbor likes the Cards. I told him I remembered being at home, watching the world series in black and white 1964, Lou Brock batting, and liking the Cards.

The day is improving both weather and attitude-wise. I do not do well sleepless and dealing with Prednisone :(:embarrassed:

".... Randy, knees can give the most pain and suffering I know. Hang in there."- Kyle. Bad knees and backs seem to be a common theme with this aging population here.:( I wish that I could not relate.

Kyle- I rarely eat oysters now due to my auto-immune BS. If I eat them I need to know as best of possible where they were cold water harvested. I avoided them during our trip down to SC earlier this year. All the news about flesh eating bacteria associated with shellfish helped my decision making processes then. They really were good last night; the "highlight" of my dining experience. There were quite a few complaints about that restaurant on TripAdvisor; almost all the complaints were similar to mine. I have not eaten a candy apple in years due to all my dental work. I could see taking a bite and half of my "teeth" ending up stuck in the apple:eek:

I may be eating more this coming week as we are taking a mini-vacation at Martha's Vineyard for a couple of days. We've lived in MA for +40 years and have never visited the islands; it was on our
"MA Bucket List."

Thanks to the iPhone connectivity posts here I believe that most of our Apple devices are now linked, and maybe even my new camera is bound in too.

I hope that everyone's Friday is going as anticipated.
