Good evening all. 77F for the start, calm wind clear sky. Moderate wind today, some cloudiness and buildups developed in the afternoon and high temp of 101F HI 109. Started working on wood pile, needed to go to POA board recap, then back on wood pile till it got hot. Lunch, shower, nap, then off to town for groceries and dinner.
Farmer sorry to hear about your youngest.
Rich, it is a pain to get roofs fixed here after hail damage, because everyone else needs their roof fixed, and the sounds of hammers on the roof goes on for months.
Don sound like you survived your Pilates and then some.

81 at 4am, up into mid 90's today, with showers this afternoon.
going to try to get some shed painting done early this morning
not much luck hunting RV's, headed to Raleigh RV show on Friday to see other models built on Sprinter chassis.

Roy - I lived east of York itself off of Mount Rose. I moved away in 95. Didn稚 really go back for a while, but get to York a couple of times a year now.

64 this morning and headed to 91 with 105 HI. Had a thunderstorm yesterday afternoon. Rain forecast everyday for next week.
Will be headed to the big city in a few. At least a 2 hour drive. Youngest sees the specialist today. See what they say. The medicine he was started on Monday is working. He was hyper yesterday and acted like his normal self except he wouldn’t nap and really needed to.
Toppop. We live within 300 ft of the barns. It’s how it was laid out when we bought it. He doesn’t get to go in them much. I will alow him to open the doors and look in at the birds but normally he doesn’t actually go inside. We do ride around the outside of the barns quite often. I do expect them to list that as a cause. Still not sure how I would change that. Adapt in a new business model. Switch to row crops and cattle. But wife allowed a couple years ago that she didn’t want to be married to a row cropper.
When I mentioned that I’d like to get back to crops.

Now Eric we don't blame vegetarians about the possibility of no dogs, cats, horses etc . . . .
No blame at all for being a vegetarian, although as tractor drivers some would say we are both responsible for the huge decline in one animal - the heavy horses that used to pull ploughs.
When heavy horses came along they in turn eliminated oxen from our countryside. I read a piece that said ox were actually much better suited for the job when you also took into account the overall cost of feed and other upkeep. It said it was only the fashion of the day that made every farmer want ever larger horses instead. Now who on here would want more horsepower ?

This high pressure is not quite as dry as it could be, though I am grateful that the wind has stayed in the right direction to avoid my pointing getting washed away. I decided to give the brickwork a rest today and for that my right arm is very grateful.
Wng, we are having a great year for butterflies too and yesterday we started to see lots of painted ladies arrive from Africa. It seems they do a mass migration one year in 10 and this is the big one. The European painted ladies (Vanessa cardui) have a reputation for dining on thistles, not sure if that holds true for the American (Vanessa virginiensis) ones too, if so Ron your neighbour's land with all that mass of thistles could be butterfly heaven.
Yes, we have friends close by who raise beef cattle. We are mostly surrounded by dairy farms.

Eric, there's a very similar butterfly here that for some reason likes to land in the gravel and fan its wings. Might be after a mineral in the soil, or ???:confused3: It's probably the most frequently seen one this year.

Funny how some people like to blame experts for bad news, Rich. Those same people like it even less when it costs 'em big bucks to fix something they caused. Hopefully your employer makes all that drama worth your while...
Finished the install on the new front swaybar on the van yesterday, and got the front diff filled with oil. That took a loooooooong time, as it had to be pumped in with a modified garden sprayer, and it was really thick oil. While I was waiting, I put the front wheels back on, and noticed that they weren't exactly centered on the hub. The studs have some play in them that presumably is taken up as the lug nuts are tightened, and I couldn't do that until the oil was done pumping and I could lower the van off the stands. Just out of curiosity, I measured the runout on the wheel and found about 0.060" - 0.080" between the two sides. After the lug nuts were fully torqued, that dropped to 0.030" - 0.060", and I thought I might have to do something about it if removing the viscous coupler didn't fix the vibration problem. I needn't have worried, as the first test drive, without the propeller shaft in place, was smooth as glass, even well past the 65 MPH speed limit. And that didn't change with the propeller shaft in place. Best of all, for the first time since the rebuild, I could spin the front wheels in the gravel, proof that the viscous coupler wasn't working. Big relief, too, as I was pretty much out of things to check, except maybe that wheel runout. Now to focus on why the Check Engine Light won't stay out. Always seems to be something...
Still no sign of where the fork is leaking on the red bike; maybe the Desenex is acting as a sealer instead of a developer on a shade tree liquid penetrant test? I think it needs another test drive.:cloud9: Here's a shot from Monday:
