Good morning!!!!

I have had intermittent low back pain since last October (self diagnosed, over weight, out of shape, sits at desk in front of computer 8-10 hrs per day, need to lose weight, exercise more, move around more, avoid sitting for long periods, etc), but a doctor visit last month resulted in discussions about chiropractor and massage, got referral for massage and had my first massage yesterday.. painful deep massage, felt better after, slept pretty well.. have another scheduled and will schedule more..
My son thinks deep massages are best. He's had a couple.

Wifey finished her picnic table refurb last week, and I neglected to share the pictures.

Here's a partial picture from last year, pre-refurb. When we tried to pick it up by the seat boards, the boards would just lift off the frame. Nails always seem like a good idea at the time ...

She flipped it over and reinforced everything with 2-1/2" deck screws. Anywhere there was a nail, there is now a nail and a screw, plus some additional screws. Then, after a bit of prep sanding she painted the bottom.

After that dried, she flipped it back to sand and paint the top.

We moved it over the weekend to the back yard next to the deck. She wants to rock in the area under and around it, which is an area with a corner and a tree that's hard to mow anyway. That's probably a Spring 2020 project.

Had the shrink visit me today, to assess my mental health. Lol

PJ, thats a lot of rain.
Nice table refinish. I want to put stone dust under mine. It's under oak tree, so grass doesn't grow much there as the tree got bigger.

We all have our prejudices, I guess. But I was less than 10 years old when my great grandmother went to see a chiropractor and he broke her hip. She never got out of bed again until she died a few months later. I think it was finally decided that she may have had bone cancer that weakened the bones so much that the chiropractor broke one. So many years later, my grandmother was having back trouble and someone suggested a chiropractor. So she went to see one, and when he got through working on her, he had to call an ambulance to take her out of his office to a hospital.

Now I realize those were things that happened long ago, and I've since known many people who claim to have been greatly helped by chiropractors. But I just cannot imagine anything that would make me go see one.

Tell Wifey she did a wonderful job, Paul! Should last into the next century. ;)

If you go with gravel, though, I wonder if you'll just be trading grass for weeds. Even using preemergent, I don't have much luck keeping my gravel and decomposed granite ground cover clear of weeds, and end up pulling and spraying glyphosate to keep them in check. Name your poison.

Checking In:

The Tundra has been detailed. It took 4 hours, but I did not see anyone wearing a hazmat suit nor respirator working on it. The truck probably saw more soap yesterday than it has seen during the previous 11 years. They used disposable drier sheets to remove the dog smell. Now the Tundra smells like a clothes drier. I do not know which smell is worse, but Wifey is happy.

A dry, but humid 61ºF for today’s low temperature. There has been increasing humidity and intermittent rain showers all day. 74ºF presently and it may get a little warmer later today.

I had my physical this AM. There were no surprises. I need to restart healthier eating/living again and lose weight. In 6 months w/o any significant reduction in my LDL’s I’ll start on a Statin medication. I never considered Statin meds to be “anti-inflammatory.”

At some point the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) updated its safety information for statins to include memory loss, forgetfulness, and confusion as possible risks of statin use. Maybe I am already on a “statin-like” medication already???

Thomas- The coydogs’/wolves' yips, yaps, and howls came from down in the hollow below. I have no clue as to their numbers; there is an echo effect.

BEF- It continues to read that you are steadily improving. I hope that you continue to improve and your neuropathy ultimately extinguishes.. I am assuming that you “passed” your mental status exam; at least you were not shipped out in restraints to some geri-psych unit. Good luck with the PT ladies.

“… Not what I wanted to hear but to have a shot at my best life I think I have to go ahead.”- Randy I am glad you made your decision. My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for you, Betty, and family.

Drew- Good luck with the dentist.

RonJH- Good luck with the home based services. My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for Betty and you.

Paul- Your Wife did a great job on the picnic table.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Yeah, we engage in that same battle every year here, too. We alternate between pulling, propane torching, and spraying. Most of the time, it's just spraying.

Agree, but then I went to look at a table saw on FB marketplace that I wanted and decided to get it.. It is a Craftsman Professional with lots of cast iron table and very nice accessories.. it weighs much more than I thought. We managed to get it on an appliance dolly, but were not comfortable going up ramps to truck bed. We went home (35 minutes each way) and got the car trailer, jacked the front of trailer up enough to make it easy to just lay it over onto car trailer. Moved it to front of trailer, strapped it down and made the trip home. My back is sore (muscles), still need to unload, but am going to use the forks on the tractor for that..
