Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #95,651
Yesterday and today have been a bit stressful, some of you will remember my daughter and granddaughter were in car accident a month ago. Granddaughter doing great, daughter has been off work going to doctors and PT several times per week, she has constant headaches. Doc put her on Topamax 10 days ago.. yesterday morning she had some blurry vision, but noon it had closed in and she was for most part blind (except very close up). She went to urgent care and they sent her to ER where she spent ~12 hours. She finally saw doctor and got CT scan only to find nothing wrong. They recommended following up with eye doctor on Monday.. She was worse/same this morning and my wife found that one of the side effects of Topamax if untreated is permanent blindness.. It took a bit of time, but we got a Saturday appt with eye doctor. They did a bunch of tests and concluded it was Topamax side effect, but her chances were good for reversal since the pressure was normal. She has to put drops in her eyes twice a day to dilate them (she hates eye drops, but will likely do it since blindness is alternative)...

Watch out for drug side effects.. stay safe. I'm going to sleep tonight for sure.

Wow, glad your wifey figured it out. Prayers for the family. Get some sleep. Times like these, fathers don't get much sleep.

Woke up to 3C outside and frost on the windscreens even though the cars are undercover, SWMBO was not impressed as she left for work at 6.20am, I am at home and trying hard to recover from a dose of pneumonia, never had it before and don't want it again.
Been off work for 4 weeks which is nice, seriously considering not going back.
Had a few bites at the house and land and have found another a bit further out, the one we liked has sold so back to square one, our offers have been from developers who are trying to screw me down and I'm not budging.
Very foggy but the sun is poking through now so have to go shopping for some groceries and red wine to get us through tonight.
Went to take the dog out (hairless Chinese Crested) and he refused to step out of the door, must be agonising for him, the other dogs are OK, three german shepherds and two excessively hairy tibetan spaniels and the horses don't care as long as they have food.
Youngest daughter took my 4WD for the weekend camping with friends, went to a place called Dargo, that will be absolutely freezing, she bought herself a swag (do you use them in the US?) and thinks it is great, I have use3d them and don't really like them.

Pneumonia is not good. Take it easy. Watch out for infection or high fever. Let us know if the red wine helps.... :)
We're having heat wave here. Hard to wrap my brain around southern hemisphere being so cold.

We need to always bike ride/pedal like Mostly. He seems to stay pretty healthy.....although riding against the wind is no fun. Even on a motorcycle.

Glad to read the better news, Randy. Take care and get well.

Good morning. Clouding over at the moment, very pleasant outside despite a rising wind, just not certain what dry weather job to risk before the rain comes.

Yesterday we were sat for a minute with a cup of tea when, literally out of the blue, a Dakota flew over at really low level. It was stunning to see and hear close up a plane that has featured a lot in the news recently, as they were the ones that flew in the parachuters and towed over the gliders at the start of the D-Day landings.

Hawkeye, that's scary, hope your daughter's sight recovers soon.

Great news Randy !

Lots of sympathetic friends who asked if they can have my tools and cameras if I died, bastards....
:)
Bunyip, they sound the best kind of friends. None of them ask for your "nasty" fergie ?

Wng, is "black fly" the generic name for small flies that like damp weather, following you everywhere, circling above your head and in extreme cases forming huge clouds that make life a misery ? If so that's what we call "midges" . The worst I have ever encountered were in Scotland - "Highland midges" can be vicious things, with a particular talent for spoiling what would otherwise be wonderful trout fishing.

Eric .... you're not at out "Royal Ascot" this week? Whuuuu? I'm shocked!
I like to see horses and have been to a few race courses, mostly for exhibitions and a couple of times to pitch my tent in the centre of the one at York as part of a cycling event. Never seen a live horse race in my life though and would sooner sacrifice a few pints of blood to a million midges than be at Ascot in top hat and tails on race week :)

It's been a while since I was in New Hampshire and Maine, where I encountered black flies, but I don't recall them needing damp weather or being in bunches...but they seemed to sneak into my hair and slice open a nice feeding trough that would swell and itch. I'm sure our New England and northern state guys (and Canada?) can better describe.

Long live prednisone and Randy!!!

58 here, going to 85. A nice shade of salmon on the clouds as the sun nears the horizon.

Hawkeye, sorry to hear about your daughter...hope she is improving today after figuring what was wrong.

BEF, glad you got your BH off...sounds like a struggle.

Bunyip, sounds like winter has arrived at your place. Get well!

Nice to hear how you're bringing up your kids, Kyle.

Took my wife, son and his GF to a nearby winery to taste their wine...I didn't taste any, but they were not impressed. Then we decided to go from there to a nice seafood restaurant on the lake...great food, but it meant we got home late, and forgot to take in the bird feeders. 6 of them were down or destroyed when we got home. When looking at the game cam pix and videos, it turns out that the bears were in the front yard as we drove up the driveway. Of course, we didn't know that until later when I looked at the pix, so we were out walking around checking out the damage with flashlights. We definitely need a "living with bears" strategy, and that starts with an end to doing things that attract them.

lots of good news this morning, folks feeling better.:thumbsup:

Wingsprd, those bears would scare me for sure. Nice bear, shoo!
would more outside lights help or just get them to your bird feeders faster?
Problem is now they have learned there is food there...

Nice weather today, 66 going to 88. From Monday on the whole week is hotter, in the mid 90's.

Have about thirty pounds of picked tomatoes to sort through in the kitchen. Might do some lawn mowing this afternoon but got most of it done yesterday,
which is my neck hurts now, too hot to wear soft collar while mowing.

I need to find a new friend with a swimming pool...

Drinking first cup of coffee. 47° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 79° mostly sunny skies. Got most of our garden ornaments out yesterday. Plus a couple of other small projects. Do some garden pond maintenance. Then do last of the flower garden weeding.
This was supposed to be a rain weekend. Instead we have perfect weather for outside. I need to wipe Hard Drive clean on bad computer before sending it back to Costco. Anyone know what is best way to do this. Can only get to C: prompt.

Sad, the motorcycle accident in NH.

Bunyip, take care of the pneumonia. I have it several times. But not since retiring. I can control my environment at home and when we traveled in a RV. Swags are used here. I have seen them used by bikers and hikers.

Hawkeye, sorry to hear about your daughter. Payers that she recovers from the Med side effects and the accident. Prayers sent.

Eric, Black Fly are flies that take a piece of skin everytime they bite. They cause welts after the bite. They can be found in areas north of the 46th parallel. Stay away from them areas from April to June if you do not want to get bit.

Randy keep up improving.

Buckeye, while it's hard to do. Best cure for pneumonia is rest.

Jay, safe travels.

David, waiting for pictures? :dance1:

Buppies, how are the Muskrats doing?

Don, nice to not have to pay for maintenance and repair bills on a tractor.

Prayers for all.

Good Morning All.

Railbiking in Retirement, a once in a lifetime adventure. - YouTube
This is for Mostly. What a cool way to go biking.
Half hour video but watching one minute of it shows the special
railroad adapted bicycles. Really excellent video to watch when you have time,
seeing the Patagonia gauchos will make our Texans feel right at home.

Personally, make me an electric version of this with an air ride seat, retractable canopy, and oh baby I'm off.
There must be all kinds of abandoned railroads in the US to explore.

Couldn't help but wonder if the pedaling would be easier using a bike with bigger tires, but these folding travel bikes are what's
available.
