Good morning! A pleasant 66˚F, cloudy, last cool snap before the heat comes back.

I found eating the bun with relish and mustard, catsup and onions taste just like a hotdog without the fat and salt.

Of course I also have two recipes - one is a special marinated carrot steamed to be floppy like a dog and the other is a oatmeal/wheat gluten and a spice called mace which has a surprisingly hot dog flavor.

Looks like 35° for the low this morning. Today is going to be in the mid 70's with mostly sunny skies and a lite wind.

I went back down to the SLC valley with a neighbor yesterday morning. He had a Dr's appointment to get some cortisone shots for his back. He is afraid to drive after getting the shots. We didn't get back tell late afternoon. He is the one that had back surgery over a year ago and almost died from blood clots. He still has a hard time being on his feet for more then 30 minutes. They keep telling him that's about the best they can do for him. It was a on the job injury so he has to deal with workmen's comp. He has been out of work for over two years.

Don't have any plans for today. But I'm sure there is something that needs done.

Hope everyone that has health problems gets better soon and back on the right track.

Good morning all,

40 with a blue sky this morning. No rain in the forecast until Sunday I think.

The last couple weeks have been rough for my health. Got a simple cold and it went right into my lungs. My asthma flared up with a vengeance. I haven't been able to do much of anything. When I stand to do anything I start to cough up a lung so bad my rib cage hurts. The last day or two it seems I might be getting slightly better. I hope so, I have a yard to get started on. Didn't care as much when it was rainy and I couldn't work on the yard, but this week is supposed to be good all week.

I figure Spam IS barely edible if it's fried. I used to occasionally eat it 60 years ago because it was cheap. But I tried it again a couple of years ago and remembered why I quit eating it. But from the amount of it I see on the grocery store shelves, I think it must be popular.

Sauerkraut on hot dogs? My parents moved us to Baltimore, MD, for a couple of years in the very early '40s. They said anytime a person in Baltimore ordered a hot dog, they were asked, "with or without kraut?" But that was unheard of in Texas and Oklahoma. Anyway, I tried it as a kid, and liked it. I still do. If we have hot dogs, I want sauerkraut on mine, but I don't even know anyone else who will do that. So I buy the smallest can of sauerkraut the store has.

I don't particularly like spam fried, unless it's diced up and scrambled into eggs. However, I found it much better grilled. I 'll slice it to about 1/2" thick and put it out on the grill. Makes it a whole lot better!
Wifey says : "tell him to get the small bagged sourkraut...that canned stuff is awful!" She grew up with sourkraut and pork, hotdogs and sourkraut, 'anything with sourkraut'... I won't go near it....

Good Morning. It's 72°F and overcast this morning. High is supposed to be only 82°F this afternoon. Woo Hoo!

I got the second mowing done on the "yard" yesterday .... now just need some rain to get all the cuttings to decompose. Everytime it gets away from me I promise myself to mow sooner but ..... just so many hours in the day.

If winds stay calm, I'm going to spray Glyphosate/ surfactant around the base of more trees. That sure makes mowing around the trees much easier with the ZT. I like easier!

Not a fan of sauerkraut or Spam and rarely eat hot dogs.

56°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 82° today. iThingie Weather Widget says we will be in the upper 40s Thursday morning. This is the longest Spring weather we've had in a long time. I don't hate this.

I can't say I've ever cared for Spam, beyond the silliness of the Monty Python skit. Wife fried some Spam "burgers" a few years ago so her kids could try them. Even with cheese, they were still disgusting. Hotdogs, on the other hand, I've always enjoyed. I grew up in a meat family - Mother's uncle owned a meat packing company, where my Father was employed for 35 years (how they met) - and Mother's family were all farmers, so I've always known what goes into hotdogs. Never cared. We don't eat them a lot, but when we do, we buy the all-beef varieties. We grilled some over the weekend along with burgers, and the nephew asked if I'd ever eaten them with sauerkraut. I laughed and said, "Sure, the poor man's brat." Grew up on that, too. Polish sausage and sauerkraut was in the regular meal rotation at our house.

I like kraut on hotdogs, but wife does not like kraut, so we never have it.
Kraut in germany is so much better than what we have, it's not sour.

We made homemade kraut when i was young.

Good morning to all! Low of 50, go up to 84 and sunny. No chances of rain until Thursday, even then only a 20% chance.

We need to change the direction of the health conditions of the group! Maybe it's just that time of the year?

RNG, I've been wondering...how hard was it to get that brush grubber off the mass of bush at the end? Did you have to pry on it for awhile?
I have one, not out of box yet, and wondered if the pulling was super easy and the taking off a pita.

Well, Drew, I'm no expert, but I had no trouble releasing the BG from any of the bushes/root balls I was dealing with. It's not like a rope that stretches and the knots get so tight you can't get them loose. The chain doesn't stretch, and the loops are so large the chain slides right through them.

I saw some comments in the reviews that complained of the BG slipping up and off the plant because the hooks on the links end up pointed outward. I didn't have any of that trouble, but I also noticed that the strands ended up twisted, so at least part of the length had the hooks pointed toward the plant. I did try just a log chain on one bush, one of the large ones that the BG wouldn't reach around, and it slipped right off. In the process, though, it compressed the branches together enough I was able to get the BG to go most of the way around, and just used the log chain to go the last foot or so.

Initially I was pulling straight up, removing the burnt and twisted remains of lavender and sage plants. There were no leaves, and just the branches, most of which spread close to the ground such that I had to dig dirt out from under them to get the BG in place. Once under those branches, the BG held fine, even when the tug went straight up. For the larger, healthy plants, I just backed the tractor away from the plant and it pretty much came right out of the ground. The biggest root ball was only a foot across, though, so it's not like I'm dealing with a small tree that might have a tap root or inch and a half thick side roots. If I was dealing with that kind of plant, I'd use the forks like a shovel and lever them out that way. I don't think the BG is made to take that kind of abuse; the links are just too small. Lots of negative reviews from folks that tried to use them that way.:confused3:
