Good morning!!!!

It was 31° this morning. Yesterday was sunny and in the mid 60's. Today is going to be mostly sunny with a chance of showers this afternoon with a high around 70°.

I worked on the fence and got that part of it done yesterday. Still need to work on the rest of it later.

We are going to get up early tomorrow and go see a Union Pacific locomotive that is going out to Utah for the 150 year golden spike celebration. It's one of the biggest locomotive that was made. They call it the Big Boy, UP No. 4014. We seen it when they were taking it back to Cheyenne to rebuild it a few years ago. I just want to see it under it's own power. I think they changed it from coal to oil on the rebuild.

Not sure what the plans are for today.

Hope everyone has has a enjoyable Sunday.
CWB.

Good morning to all! Low back down to 40 again, going up to 74 and sunny. Chances of showers coming in Tuesday...maybe...we're starting to get really dried out again!

Pups are doing better! No evacuations last night, they slept through the night!

They did, but I didn't....got about 2 hours then just tossed and turned anticipating having to jump out of bed and run them outside. Got another 2 hours from about 3-5am, now I'm really dragging. That's OK...as long as they are getting over this...

Randy, glad to hear your mom is a little more alert....meds can do a lot of things...

Drew, you still amaze me with the amount of things you do before a lot of people even get out of bed! How was the dinner? Did you leave hungy? Last time I went to one of those "fancy" restaurants, I ended up going to a pizza place about an hour later! Granted, that was in my much younger years when I was eating a lot more!

Jay, are you drying out yet? Better get those tires changed out on the mower...everything is going to suddenly grow overnight! I'm going to get a big bottle of 'Slime' for the tires on the garden tractor. Did them a couple of years ago, but one rear and one front have slow leaks now. Might be a simple project for today.

The dealer finally emailed me yesterday afternoon, he lined up a 'five star' trucking outfit to ship the tractor, but they couldn't get there until tomorrow. WOO-HOO!! I should have the new tractor on Tuesday! Now the anticipation is really getting bad! Of course, I'll finally get the tractor and it will rain....

Everyone have a peaceful, quiet Sunday! Prayers sent for all!

Good Morning! It's 63°F and clear this morning. Forecast says 87°F for this afternoon.

Our VFD Fund Raiser was a huge success again this year. We won't have final $$$ for a few days but, guest turnout was even better than last year, raffle tickets went very well. Top prize was a JD Gator. The live auction had good response. $1,100 for a cast iron skillet apple pie. Whuuu?

Seven of us prepared, breaded, and deep fried 260 chicken fried steak dinners for our guests.

Today we commemorate Cinco de Mayo, the Mexican Army great victory, over the French, at the Battle of Puebla, on May 5, 1862.

Go to a bar, ask 20 people about the basis of Cinco de Mayo. 19 wont have a clue, one will state boldly "Why .. its Mexican Independence Day! Nope .... that's on September 16th celebrating the victory over Spain.

I think today, Cinco de Mayo or not, will be a day of energy conservation.

Feliz Cinco de Mayo ..... to everyone.

Prayers to all.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!!

Today's low is a rainy 52ºF as I type which may also be today's high temperature. A rainy day anticipated. As I enjoyed my coffee I saw my first flock of goldfinches (10) + 1 pine siskin. That is the most goldfinches seen since last Fall. And the day before yesterday I saw my first flock of purple finches; again the most seen since last Fall. This year is a good year for White Throated Sparrows and Song Sparrows as well.:D

" They will upset the stomach and give them the trots."- Bill When we had cats my dogs considered kitty treats as breath mints. I have to admit that their breath was better;).

"... Mom was better than she had been in a couple of weeks after they dropped some of her meds at my request.

Have a good day folks, and may the good Lord take a liking to you!."- Randy. I am happy to read that you had a decent evening and Mom is doing better thanks to in part the reduction in medication dosing. Under-diagnosing UTI's and over-medicating of the elderly is sadly much too common in longterm care facilities.

"... So far no bombs or strafing.-" Drew. I remember your first post about the militarization of the ProMet meteo-babble. I have to agree. For awhile it was baseball terms like inside runner and slider.

Ted- I am happy to read that Max and Kassie are doing better and that you will soon be posting pictures of your brand-new LS. Yes I have to start dealing with those mower tires today.

Rick- That pie looks like great eats. I had no clue as to the origins of Cinco de Mayo. Is Cinco de Mayo an American Holiday?

I hope everyone has a decent Sunday.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Randy, glad mom is better. Seven bridges road is one of my favorites. Showcases the eagles' talent well.

Not eagles, but this oldie but goodie was used in the Avengers movie.

Our friends/associate pastors are home from their UK/Ireland sabbatical. Can't wait to hear them play music in church.

Ron, glad you sold your cutter with minimal hassle.

Most of the Mexicans I’ve known don’t consider it a big deal. The Americans do, as big party day!

Congratulations on the fund raiser!

I would love to go see the Big Boy running again. What a massive effort and locomotive. Will they play Jethro Tull's Locomotive Breath? :)

52°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 73° today. Rain in the forecast for the next four days, so If I'm going to mow it will have to be today.

Went to a place in Carlyle last night to see some friends play. Never been there before. It's called Bretz Wildlife Lodge and Winery, and has a bit of an African safari kind of theme. The bands played outside under a large pavilion. Two bands; one was a mix of southern rock and country, the other was more of an '80s rock band. Both were good. Seasoned musicians, many of whom I've known for a long time. The drummer for the country band is the stepfather of the guitar player for the rock band. They were both thrilled to get to play a show together. They alternated sets every hour, so the live music was nonstop. I only stayed for about two hours, but got to talk with some friends I haven't seen in quite awhile. In fact, a couple members of the rock band noted that they both still have their "Incognito" shirts, which was the cover band that ended in 2011 when we turned it into the Sammy Hagar tribute band RED.

As I'm sure you know, Ron, Carlyle Lake was made by damming the Kaskaskia River. It's the largest man-made lake in Illinois, but is only about 10-12 feet deep in most places. Since it's essentially just a flooded river anyway, flooding there is not uncommon. My youngest step son mentioned yesterday that there are a lot of areas around the lake already closed this year. It's probably going to be a bad year for them.

Wife is coming back from Texas tonight. She's been having a great time with her oldest son. They've been hiking pretty much every day, and even went zip-lining yesterday. Looking forward to having her back home.
Sounds like you and your wifey had good times. I know a guy in Dallas who IIRC is in an Incognito band??? Now he also does some Van Halen tribute stuff too.

I was always a Steve Winwood fan.

Me too. Only got to see him once live, in Austin, with a bunch of great guitarists playing along.
