Good morning all,

32 and snowing lightly with no wind. Supposed to be stormy all day I think.

Buckeye, glad to see your dad had a good time.

Prayers and well wishes for those in need.

BEF, your dad, like my mom, are from that generation, they don’t give up, they don’t give in, and when they are gone the world will never see their like again.

53 now, going to 61 today, a lot less wind. Spring is slowly coming, trees are blooming, grass is greening, birds are nesting and cats are howling.

Healing prayers for y’all, God bless.

It was 63°F here this morning and overcast. Forecasters say 79°F and slight chance of rain this afternoon.

I played more "pick up sticks" yesterday with the 55 HP tractor and grapple.

We had a pasture shade structure, for the horses and donkeys, that was downed in big winds a few months ago. It's finally dried up enough to get to it with a tractor so decided to disassemble it yesterday.

Managed to do it all with grapple and never left the seat. All the posts and wood structure material have been deposited on the burn pile. The metal roofing will go to local metal recycle yard.

It was here when we bought this property in 2006 and I have no clue why it was built. The horse barn has covered turnouts and pasture is covered with huge oak trees?

Plan for today is to mow all the areas, in the horse pasture, where I "picked up sticks" (and limbs, and dead trees) yesterday. I had planned on spraying fence lines in that pasture but, that will wait until there's less chance of rain.

Everyone have a great Sunday!

Prayers to all.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!

A clear 28ºF start to the day; 39ºF now, and anticipate temperatures ~50ºF later. A beautiful early Spring morning.

I cannot handle heat, but I do not mind the cold (so far).

BEF- I am happy your Dad had a great birthday surrounded by friends and family. I like the present. I wish your Dad and easy chair many healthy and uneventful years of operation together.

Drew- I have never seen yellow collards before. No good deed goes unpunished; some punishment. ;) for nephew.

David- I am happy to read that Sophie’s transition from Workman’s Comp/SSDI to SSI to SS went smoothly. I was/am in a similar situation, but due to some mistakes made w/i SSDI I was apparently over-benefitted and had to pay the Feds back before I could receive benefits again (with a wait period). If I remember correctly (?) the options for payback were Mafioso-like- they got their $ quickly.

Bill- GC was one of my favorite comedians. I like the term differently-abled. Accepting and owning the term disabled is a self-fulfilling prophecy if one allows.

Eric- I had to look up besotted. I see a lot of avian besotting going on around here as well. Spring is definitely in the air. ;) I've been besotted myself :rolleyes:

RNG- My fascination with Winter weather shifts to T-storms this time of year. The only thing I liked about staying in FL for parent care was the T-storms activity. Good luck helping your neighbor friend. In a way he was lucky- it could have been worse. I wish him a speedy recovery. My chainsaw always did and always will scare me.

Rick- I always enjoy your pictures as I do everyone else’s. Thank you.

I hope everyone has a decent Sunday.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Yep, dad talks about the things he did that you can't do today, like buy dynamite at the hardware store. Lol

65°F and .32 inches rain

Can’t tractor so I find myself working on the kitchen cabinets. How’s that for a switch? One of those tasks on the to do list that never seemed a priority. But a little furry creature seems to be wrecking havoc in the pantry cabinets and more about of bait or traps is having any effect. Maybe adding the unfinished trim will deny access.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

I'm not sure we'd have room to list all the things we used to do that our kids and grandkids cannot do.

My granddad hauled the outgoing mail from the Post Office in Ardmore to the train station and the incoming mail back to the Post Office, seven days a week, 6 trains a day. And we used to love riding along in the bed of the truck, usually standing up just holding onto the headboard.

And we could buy and shoot fireworks at any age, even in town.

25 years ago I could buy dynamite up here in the hardware store. All you had to give for a reason was 'blowing stumps'.

Riding in the back of a pickup truck was great fun, made even better if there was beer involved.

Good reason to wear safety chaps. Even when you do not think you need them. I have been slack with wearing them and other safety equipment lately. Using battery operated tools seems to have taken some of the preparation lessons I have learned over the years.

I received a pair of those chaps as a gift. Wore them once and almost passed out from heat exhaustion. Haven't worn them since, but this accident has me reconsidering.

So many things we used to do and not think twice about it: Rode bicycles without a helmet, sometimes motorcycles, too; cliff jumping into dark water; driving in cars that never even had a seat belt; playing with firecrackers and even bigger stuff we made for ourselves; running power equipment with no safety guards; breathing fumes that would curl the hairs in your nose; and a ton of other stuff I've forgotten about. Somehow me and my friends all survived, except that one time an M80 went off in Steve Raymond's face and he was covered in ice and frozen water, but not really hurt. Now there are laws to keep us safe; back then we used common sense. But common sense isn't so common anymore, so I guess we have to rely on the gummint to do the thinking for us?
