Going to my dog breeder aunt's place. Needs some help with getting lawnmower, tractor and gator running. A little NASCAR in afternoon.

Good Morning!!!! 43F @ 5:15AM. Partly cloudy skies this morning will become overcast during the afternoon. High 66F. Winds light and variable.

All I can say is that yesterday more than an inch of rain fell, since the weather station stopped reporting at noon and then fixed itself at 7:30PM. During that time several large thunder and lighting cells passed overhead, leaving puddles and ringing ears in their wake. I was on the back porch using the parts washer for one of them, it was very impressive.

You could always just let the cell phone ring, PJ, and say that the battery died.

Put new steering head bearings in the big RT touring bike yesterday, a job I'd been putting off as it likely involved removing most of the fairing. Found a way to do it by just pulling two panels, so not so bad. The old bearing grease had turned to glue and the races were Brinelled, both of which made for wonky handling. Got to try out two new bearing pulling tools, and both earned their keep once I figured out how they worked. Today I'll go for a short ride to fully seat the races and make a final adjustment to the bearing preload.

The sun did come out late in the day long enough to dry up some of the water under the van, so I used most of a can of Gunk cleaning off the oil that had been blown over the engine and transaxle. Today I'll get under there and do more cleaning with solvent and a rag. I'm wondering how much of what I thought was coming from the oil pan was really from the transaxle, maybe all of it? And I also think it would be a good idea to just change the oil in the transaxle instead of topping it up, as there were several parts, including one gear set, that were replaced during the rebuild and after 500 miles it is often a good idea to put in fresh oil in case the old stuff was contaminated with wear particles. Should probably do the same with the engine as well, since the block, crank, rods, and pistons were also all new.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend!

Almost forgot to mention this. Got a txt message from the body shop neighbor last night at about 9:30. He was on his way home from the hospital after hurting his leg with a chainsaw during the afternoon. He's not sure what happened, except the ground gave way underneath him and he lost control of the saw. Perhaps he was standing over a large root that had been burned out, leaving a cavity that collapsed. I plan to head over there this morning to check on him and the wife, and make sure there isn't something I can to to help him out. His new modular home was just delivered last week, and the cleanup of the remains of the old house finished as well, but here's yet another setback. Two steps forward, one step back, the poor guy just can't get a break.

Prayers for neighbors. Hope it did not hit any major veins or muscles.
Good reason to wear safety chaps. Even when you do not think you need them. I have been slack with wearing them and other safety equipment lately. Using battery operated tools seems to have taken some of the preparation lessons I have learned over the years.

It's 27° this morning and overcast. Yesterday was mostly sunny and in the low 40's. We have a chance of snow showers this morning and sun by the afternoon. The high will be in the low 40's.

Worked on the table top for a while yesterday. Just need to put some kind of finish on it. My go up and ask a neighbor if I can go through his scrap pile and find something to make the legs out of. So I don't have to wait for snow to disappear.

BEF ... That's a great picture. I'm happy for you and your dad.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.
CWB.
