Good morning!!!!

Good morning to all! Low of 16 last night, currently 20, high of 26 expected. Still under winter storm warning until 5 pm today. Overnight we have about 8" and still snowing. The weather guessers are saying another 5-6" this morning. At least it's the light fluffy stuff. Makes it a pretty outside at least.

Roy, prayers for your wife and also you and family. Hope she has a speedy recovery.

My father played multiple instruments: sax, clarinet, oboe, organ, piano, accordion, and violin. He could read and write music but was mainly self taught. I have 5 siblings, none of us play any instruments. I did take saxophone lessons for 2 years in grade school, but never continued. He passed his genes onto my son, the only grandchild out of 14 that plays a musical instrument.

I have never been ice fishing...always wanted to, but never was persistent to make plans to do so. Always went skiing, snow shoeing, even winter snow camping on the Appalachian Trail, but never ice fishing. Naturally, all this was when i was a young buck....don't think I would do it now.

I might get out to get some seat time in a little bit, plowing the snow....maybe not. I haven't decided to just let it melt off or to plow it. We don't have to go anywhere so.... But, now they're predicting another snow storm on Thursday and Friday. That would make a mess if I don't plow....mmmmm decisions, decisions....

Looks like this weather system is going to become problematic for a bunch of you guys in a couple of days. Hope everyone is prepared and can stay safe and warm.

Everyone have a great day! Prayers sent for all, extras for those really needing.

Some pics of the snow this morning:

Cold and dry today before some mix of snow to rain tomorrow with lots of water we don’t need right now.

6 degrees at the moment and mostly clear. Snow tomorrow.

Roy it sounds like your wife has plenty of prayer power from the posters here. I'll pray for the doctors doing the work. If they do a good job then your wife will be just fine.

28°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 38° today. Weather forecasters and news people around here seem to be losing their minds over the system moving through the area this evening. 1-2" of mixed precipitation is supposed to arrive sometime around 7pm-ish, and you'd think the world was hanging in the balance because of it. I guess they've forgotten it's actually Winter right now.

Best wished for your wife, Roy.

Nice progress on your project, David.

I have been in Albuquerque once, passing through in 2011 on the way to The Grand Canyon. We stopped and had a delicious lunch at The Owl Cafe, and I noted to The Wife (we were still dating then) as we left the parking lot to head back to the interstate that we were, in fact, making the legendary "left at Albuquerque." Her youngest son was with us, and didn't get the reference.

Harpsichord is one of my favorite instruments, Steppenwolfe. Wish I had one. I get a fairly decent version of one from my Roland synthesizer, but that's never the same as a real instrument. The music for the giant, epic progressive rock work I just started working on is based on the 120 sonatas for harpsichord by the Spanish baroque-era composer Antonio Soler.

The talent vs desire conversation has been fun to read. I think everyone is pretty much saying the same things, just in different ways. There are definitely some things that cannot be taught, but the basics are available to most everyone. Drew may have hit on something, in that perhaps I've mis-applied the word talent ... something I've always believed everyone has in varying degrees.

RNG- I hope that you take some pictures of the project.

David- I enjoy your pictures of all your on-going projects.

Ted- Thanks for sharing your snow pictures and your property. I really like your yard. I hope your knee is mending w/o pain.

I never ice fished or skied downhill, tried cross-country once and fell down more than I would if I had been ice skating which I can not do, snow camped once; but I've been snowshoeing for 40 years. I may still have an opportunity to snowshoe if there are any late season snows in April. If I am lucky I may be able to bend the knee enough to drive in March. It might be easier to drive the tractor than the car or truck, but I am not thinking of trying anything that stupid yet.

great snow pics.

back from running a ton of errands, food pantry help happily gobbling down my brownies, got my eyeglasses fixed, all three of them, I'm really hard on glasses...they remember me because I brought in a pair I had driven over with the tractor. That gave them something to talk about.
Then over to Lowes to get more Burpee organic seedling mix, which I use for the first half or three quarters of the container, then top with the finely ground commercial propagation mix I have. Lastly, picked up my new front tires for the JD garden tractor. Five years and the Chinese made Carlisles were half worn out and starting to check on the inside. Five years, what a disgrace for a tire to start coming apart in that time, particularly for a shedded piece of equipment. Kenda replacements made in Japan, hopefully will hold up better.

Have to do some overhaul/delayed maintenance on the front wheel bearings. You don't grease them, you pack them, and I sure have been negligent on that. So going to free up the bearings thoroughly with some oil and penetrant, then pack them with grease again.
A nice messy goopy job but satisfying. Shafts looked like new so nothing had been damaged, but timing was good for this.
I'd much rather have a zerk fitting in there and surprised JD doesn't use them.
Two tiny exterior fiber washers disintegrated when I took them off, will need to get them at dealer, they fell apart so much nothing to take to TSC but little bits. I think I'll buy two in the expensive green envelope and then go match them at TSC for some spares before I put them on.

Taxes are done. Took a little long than it should. Because Turbo Tax did not transfer proper data over to state taxes. Quick call to Turbo Tax customer service got it fixed. Yes there is a tax savings. Getting 4 times the $200 I got back last year.
Warmed up a little outside. Now 28°.

65°f and 2.92 inches rain. More forecast for today.

Wife and I off to a CPR/AED class this morning. Likely an inside day after that.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

I have never been ice fishing...always wanted to

I've never been ice fishing . . . and NEVER wanted to. My younger brothers lived in Alaska for 20 and 25 years and did lots of fishing, but they, too, said they never had any desire to go ice fishing.

Me neither, Bird. A friend of mine met some folks up in Wisconsin a couple years ago during one of his iron-butt motorcycle trips, and they invited him back for some ice fishing in the winter. He's gone the last two years, and just went about two weeks ago. He loves it. Me? I can't even imagine what motivates someone to even want to do that. :confused3:
