Good morning!!!!

It was 39* for the low this morning, yesterday was mostly sunny and in the low 70's. Today is going to be in the high 70's with a little breeze. They are saying tomorrow is going be cooler with a good chance of thunderstorms for rest of the long weekend.

Really don't have any plans for the weekend. The wife and kids are on their way to Colorado to see her family.

There are a few things that I would like to get done, I'll see how that works out.

Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend.
CWB.

Ed, one of the most important things when installing is this. When they weld up the copper pipes, they should have the pipes purged and filled with an inert gas such as argon or nitrogen. Ask for this, and be there to insure it is done. When you silver solder pipes with out inert gas, the weld will make hard oxides on the inside that can flake off and damage the system.

Nicely posted. :cool::)

To all the Veterans here and our allied veterans, thank you and your families and friends for your sacrifices. This Holiday is more than a 3 Day weekend.

65°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 87° today. iThingie says we're in for some rain today, and a look at the NWS map confirms that with a colorful blob moving across Missouri towards us.

Might spell doom for my golf outing with friends after work this evening.

Bummer about the AC, Ed. We replaced our entire system last year during the remodel. Cost us right at $10K for new compressor and air handler units, and some new duct work (return vents in every part of the house). We have a great AC guy who used to do all the repairs for The Wife's grandmother. When she'd call, he'd be there that day. He still treats us the same. He installed an AprilAire filtration system on it that uses those giant 3-1/2" thick pleated filters. They are $25 each from him. We used the last one this week, so we looked around to try to find a better price. Seems everyone else wants $30-40 each for them. So, we just ordered more from him.

Going to be thinning the crowded chicken coop this weekend. Of the 15 chickens we bought, 6 have turned out to be roosters. They are starting to crow and get a little aggressive, so we're going to harvest the meat before it gets too gnarly. Found a neat DIY chicken plucking tool that I'm going to give a try. Hope everyone has a safe weekend.

Also tell them when they weld up the copper pipe, they must make sure the pressure bulb for the Thermal Expansion Valve (TEV) won't see any heat. If the weld is any where close, they must make sure the bulb does not touch the copper pipe. If they don't the bulb may get too hot and pressure up too high, losing some of the refrigerant in there. That would cause problem with having enough pressure to open the TEV like what I'm having right now.

Kyle & Cajun, Thanks for the tips. Both guys came this morning. The first was a goof ball. Had to measure every room in the house and then forgot to add up the totals before he told me what size unit I needed. All some kind of stupid show. Noticed that the first guy that gave me a price the other day left the caps off of the outside unit and a small cover off of the air handler. Beginning to doubt that he put in 6 lbs of R22 as well because it went in very fast for that much. Last guy seems to be a good guy and am hoping that he gives me a good price because I would rather deal with him, I think.

Hope you all have a great day. Ed

I built a Wiz bang picker and finished it about 2 weeks before I went vegan. :confused3: Still setting in the storage unit never used.

73 degrees this morning, going for a high of 94. But a few minutes ago, we had a sudden little downpour that dropped the temperature from 89 to 74 and put about .02" of rain in my gauge. Glad I mowed yesterday.
