Good morning! 74˚ like it is every morning. I think it's time to use the wether station as target practice. Temps will hit the high 90's this Memorial day weekend but it will be 74˚ all the time here.

My nephew is an AC repair person, has his own business, and replaced my attic coil All he wanted was snows BBQ and hunting rights for life on my place. I just got him BBQ and he gave me a uncle discount of labor at $600 a day, which included freon, and I had to be his unpaid helper. He did get my replacement coil under warranty.

Ed make sure you save all warranty documentation and get that unit registered. The new ones are not lasting very long.

Now Don you and I could have some fun. Put the same unit out about 300 feet in a safe spot, get comfy with a nice seat, and we'll have target practice.
Prize for first shot that stops the signal! And in that agonizing split second before AccuWrong meets its maker, it will give it up and show us the right temperature
for once. Perhaps we could start with BB guns and then advance to some nice .22 hollow points.
Sure is a nice display inside, they got that right, almost too much info.

I just want it to live up to its name.

Good morning. Finally a break in our long run of good weather, an overcast start, with just enough rain to make the pollen and petals stick to everything, yet not a hope of washing off any of the swallow poop that is coating the cars parked up in the yard.

Beautiful sunset Cajun. Ok, I give in, why was the fishing so good ? I see calm water with a very light ripple and to the right of the pier it looks as if there could be a few rafts of vegetation floating just under the surface.

The whole shallow lake is like an estuary for spawning of speckled trout and red fish. What you thought as rafts of vegetation were school of shads being chased by trout and red fish under them.

Kyle, those prime rib burgers were great, even better they were on sale for less than 80/20!

Buppies, how is the leg?

Getting ready for the crew to hit tonight, first time they and Ellen are sleeping over at the same time. Should be interesting.
Big cookout tomorrow and the club cruise in as well.

Prayers for the needy, in other words all of us!

A few years ago I would have agreed with you and would have done exactly what you are talking about, but there is no way I can work in the attic heat. If the unit was in the basement I would likely think about it. I know you are right but... Thanks, am hoping the two quotes I get today will be much better. Ed

Sorry about all this. I understand about attic heat. No one can stay in an attic for long if the temp is high. My home that was built in 1994 would get up to 145F in the attic on 100F days. That is too high. If your attic gets that hot, you should try to invest in cooling it. Many ways to do it.

My neighbor installs AC. He can do it almost by himself, but he works for a company. He says the quotes are starting around $8000 it seems nowadays.

I have a bunch of guests coming in for a visit this weekend and we plan to go to Florida next week. That storm out in the gulf could be trouble. :(

Bought a bunch of fishing rods from Amazon. Look like 3 out of 5 are going back.

Planted some tomatoes, okra, cucumber, and zucchini in my keyhole garden. The peppers will be planted today.

Good morning to all! Low of 48, quickly going up to 88 today. Breezes at 10-15 gusts to 20 so should help to keep it comfortable. Humidity is low at 10%, so not too bad, won't feel too hot.

Wng, you're hopes worked, the knee isn't hurting too bad this morning. Have a PT session this afternoon, definitely going to take it easier. No more pushing it like they want, it shouldn't be football camp.

Ed, unfortunately I think your getting 'average' prices. I got some quotes about 2 months ago (preseason) and they were comparable to yours. Had one contractor tell me prices were so high because of all the regulations placed upon HVAC contractors. Personally I say BS!

Hope everyone has a great weekend doing whatever planned, stay safe, have fun!

Prayers out for those needing!

Drew and Don- I am sorry to read about your challenges with your personal weather stations. My anemometer pole is coming down today. All the other outdoor sending units ceased functioning a couple of months ago. I had replace the original temperature shield with a larger cooling shield on my Oregon Scientific weather station, but it never really provided accurate data. I do not want to spend the $ for a decent, expensive weather station and the best location is ~200' away down in the field. Good luck to all go us with getting replacements.

CjR- Thank for the sunset picture and the explanation of what was happening beneath the surface. It does look like that storm system will develop to T.S. Alberto; storm track uncertain at this point.

Ted- I am sorry to read about the knee strain. The path to total recovery has its "good" and "bad" days and takes time and frustration tolerance:(. When your knee feels unstable it is :(. I am happy to read things are a little better today. Please take it a little easier.

Ed- Good luck with the part(s) replacement.

Randy- Good luck with the family gathering and cookout and club cruise tomorrow.

Another beautiful clear, 50F morning and ~70F day shaping up he. The garden area was prepped yesterday for today's tilling. Some tractor time planned for today  I found out yesterday that we have "plans" for Memorial Day (ex-BIL's family/niece's birthday). Weather looks poorly for outdoor activities this weekend; I might as well enjoy the 6 hours of traveling time for the round trip to hook up with the "inlaws" for three hours.

My FitBit sports and fitness smart watch arrived yesterday. It took "some (a lot of :embarrassed:) time" to figure out the basics and get it synchronized to my iMac and wifey's smart phone and iPad. With the basic setup it tracks steps taken, distance traveled, cardio info, calories burned, sleep functions, and more stuff (like dietary data) that I need to figure out. My recorded sleep pattern was interesting. More data for my physical next week. My old, analog flip phone's (inherited from wifey) days appear to be numbered. It looks like an iPhone 8+ may be in my future. I can barely work the flip phone.

I hope that everyone has a safe and decent Memorial Day weekend holiday.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for all.

Good Morning!!!! 52F @ 7:00AM. Rain early...then remaining cloudy with showers in the afternoon. Thunder possible. High 58F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 70%.

Rain started at about 6AM, and it's dropped a quarter inch so far. Enough do dampen down the dust on the driveway, but also enough to give the weeds a nice drink, too. Have seven gallons of glyphosate waiting at Tractor Supply and it looks like spraying just moved up the priority list...

Hope you get lower bids today, Ed. Just keep in mind that the lowest bid is seldom the best. I'd be sure to get a few references and follow through on calling them to check on the work.

Uneventful trip home yesterday, thank goodness. Transmission was finished, both shafts turned smoothly, and had a nice chat with the builder about the damaged gears. It was more of a "after 150K miles, they all do that" sort of thing, so I need to get the bike back together and start working on a repeat.

Had a lot of helmet time over the past two days to think about the situation with the Canadian auction sniper, and when I got home I called eBay and got some help figuring out how to cancel the transaction and refund the bid. At 8PM I answered the phone and it was the very upset buyer going on and on about every excuse in the book about why he took so long to pay and how he was having trouble finding a shipper and all the customs problems. I finally interrupted him long enough to tell him I didn't have time for his problems, and to let me know if for some reason the refund didn't go through. That set him off again, so I interrupted him and repeated very that I just didn't have any more time to waste on him, v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y so he'd understand it. I heard an "oh" and a click and he hung up. :) He'll probably try to pull some negative feedback BS, but at this point I just don't care. I revised the ad to be a fixed price and indicated I'd entertain offers and resisted it, this time restricting bidders to the continental 48 US states. eBay users outside that geographical area won't even see the ad, which is exactly what I want and should have set up the first time. Got help doing that while I was on the phone with the eBay gal, too. I also put an ad on a popular BMW online forum, and plan to place ads on Craig's List here, in Sacramento, and the SF Bay Area. It is Memorial Day weekend and all the stores are having sales, so why shouldn't I?

With the rain outside, I'll work in the garage getting the bit dual sport bike put back together. Probably take most of the weekend, cleaning as I go and taking my time the way I like to work.

Hope everyone enjoys their long weekend, if they have one. Sometime during the weekend, take a moment to remember the sacrifices made by our fighting men and women that made our way of life possible.
