Do you have problem w/deer and hogs etc. enjoying your garden also?

not yet, ten foot fence for stuff growing now, electric fence for most of rest. Nothing for corn or potatoes.
Neighbor thinks I can plant melons safely "out there" but I see deer prints through the freshly disc'd soil.
So I think melons will stay inside the electric grid.

Ron- Thanks. I like Boar's Head products. I have not yet tried those pickles. After many years of consuming "Kosher Dill" pickles only, I have slowly broadened my tastes to include Bread and butter pickles. Thanks for the link.

BTW you will not find the Horseradish pickles in the same area as the other pickles. They will be in a refrigerated section. There are some good recipes to be found on the internet for them also.

All this talk about different drinks and no one has mentioned Thunderbird or MD 20-20.:laughing: In the mid '60s, Thunderbird was the wine of choice of the street people in Dallas, but then it was replaced by MD 20-20. I guess I was always a bit surprised by the change from a white wine to a red one. I tried the Thunderbird once; horrible stuff, and I always wanted to taste MD 20-20 but not enough to buy a bottle, so I've never tasted it.:laughing:

In 1966 I was stationed at Kessler AFB (as an Army student) I had the luxury of having my 65 Corvair. I remember one weekend near payday several of us scrounged around until we found enough change to get a quarter’s worth of gas and just enough left for a bottle of Thunderbird.

A worthy note about the Corvair. I had purchased only months before getting my draft notice. Had financed with the local town bank, $69/ month, which for those of that era might recall would take a major chuck of my military pay. A talk with my local bank manager and he assured me no need to sell the car, that the bank was willing to accept whatever payment I could afford without negative impact. No paperwork, just his word. What a relief to be able to take advantage. Later, after several promotions I made up the lesser payments and completed loan on time. Seriously doubt one could do that today.

Ripple and Boone’s Farm, pretty much my wife’s wine of choice before getting stationed in Germany where she developed a better appreciation. Didn’t think much about it until on a flight home for emergency leave she ordered the airline wine. The look on her face and her comment told me her tastes had evolved.

Norfolk (pronounced Naw-*****) has a number of military bases...most were Navy. We young squids drank the **** out of Ripple because it was cheap and a quick drunk. The "killing" part was the massive hangover that resulted.
