A stress test shows heart disease in it's later stages at 70% blockage or more. I still pass the stress test, had one last summer. If you fail the stress test the cardiologist will be looking to do a procedure on you, stent or bypass if you are having symptoms. It's best to do a test that shows earlier development of heart disease. The Ct scan will show if you have heart disease at an earlier stage about 20%. it shows calcium build-up in the heart. The one thing it does not show is the plaque that has not calcified, but it is still better than a stress test at early detection. The test is worth every penny to your loved ones if you act on a negative results.

This is a slide that was shown at a seminar by a cardiologist on detecting your plaques early comparing the stress test to the cardiac CT.

The low this morning was 23*, the high yesterday was in the mid 40's and windy. Looks like today will overcast with a chance of rain or snow showers all day into the overnight. They are called for the temperature to be in the mid 40's and windy again.

I'm with farmer2009 on the use of utv's. Mine is licensed for the road, we have BLM and state land with in a few miles of us. I'll take it hunting most of the time, the roads are like cobblestone roads with about half the stones missing. And it's just easier to jump in it to run up to the neighbors place. Also use it just to move stuff around when working on things.

Good afternoon. Times are all strange at the moment, we had a dose of DST applied and then grandson confused us even further by staying in his own bed until well after daylight.

The world has shrunk slightly today, at least for those in this country who want to go visit Australia, as the first ever direct passenger service has just gone into service between the two countries for those that don't mind flying without a break for 17 hours.


Thomas, hope you are starting to feel a little better and the only stars you see tonight are those up in the night sky. Lot's of info TBN comparing R1 v R4, maybe you could now add a new angle to that.

Had a great time Friday night playing the benefit for an old high school classmate. The place was packed, and a fair amount of money was made to help him, as was the plan. It was nice to play again with my buddies, too.

Getting the Husqvarna rider out today to give it a once over, as The Wife plans to use it with the garden dump trailer this week ... moving some pavers and landscaping rock in-between rain events, I guess.

Congrats to BEF on his contest win. Did deiselcrawler get anything for being the 5M poster? And how do the rest of us get hats and mugs?

Good Morning!!!! 40F @ 6:30AM. Cloudy with a few showers. High 53F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%.

Rain moving out this afternoon leaving partly cloudy skies, and not coming back anywhere in the next ten days. Mid 70s by next weekend. Sure hope we get to have a spring this year, as last year we were in the 90s before the end of April.

Glad you're OK today Thomas. I've slipped a time or two on the stirrup step on the Kubota, especially when my boots were wet. Easy to twist something on the way down, and we don't bounce like we used to, either.

Good to see you bouncing back, too, Randy. Ellen will never replace your wife, but there's no reason you shouldn't start making new memories with Ellen.

Mostly, I just don't understand why people insist on throwing bottles out the window, spreading glass all over the road. Takes a big piece to kill a car tire, but sure plays heck with the thin, skinny bike tires. And it stays there a long time, until the county comes along with a sweeper. Then the same people wonder why bicyclists don't stick to the white line, where all the glass they put there hides out. To you rub your tires with your fingers to brush the glass off? Started doing that back in the days of tubular tires, and still do it. Just not as easy to reach that back tire these days.:laughing:

I'd sure hate to be without my RTV. I'd never pay $25,000 for a new one, but then I quit suffering drive off depreciation a long time ago and always try to find something with a few years on it. Can't imagine trying to haul gravel/dirt in a golf cart, or even getting up the steep terrain here in one.

Would you do it again yourself, or take it to that place Don uses and let them do it instead? I also don't understand why voters tolerate predatory practices in government. Like Drew's robot traffic ticket, or bad treatment/ridiculous fees at the DMV. I'm starting to see big jumps in vehicle registration fees come through that were gifted to us by legislators in the last session, and you can bet I'll remember in November how they got that way.

Got the mag and generator cleaned up and installed back on the old motorcycle yesterday. Relieved to find that they both passed the electrical tests recommended in the manual. At least they did after I repaired one of the test leads; the end just came off in my hand! No wonder, it's gotta be at least twenty years old by now. The felt wiper for the points cam is long gone, so I'll try to find something that'll work at McMaster today and get that on order. Than go back out to the garage and squint some more at the points, hopefully finding the sweet spot where they break at just the right time.

I think the only memorable thing that the Michigan Legislature has done in my lifetime was passing the bottle return bill in 1972. Before, the roads were literally covered in glass, and cans were all over. After, very little trash. Now we need to fast food containers and other things on the same system.

Good evening all. 56F for the start,overcast and humid, moderate wind. Chance of rain today, had a cell on Red River headed out direction but fell apart before it go here. High temp was 75F, got breezy when cell got close and overcast all day. Chance of rain next 3 days. Chapel to start day, made breakfast, napped, dug up one of the crepe myrtle bushes for step daughter, and had a tube patching party.

RNG, you could do it...It's not a fun, glorious job. It is messy, and you will get oil on everything and you will have to use 2 or 3 old t-shirts to try and keep the oil from running off the table. The darn seals set me back about $60... In the kit, you get a split plastic ring that fits inside your cylinder's wall ID groove. You have to delicately put it in place so that the snap ring will "glide" over it. It still took me a decent amount of force to get the snap ring to go over it. I have a nice wooden bench with a 2" thick wood top about 6 feet long. I attached the rod end to 1 end of the table using a Kant twist clamp and putting the "T" end on the edge of the table, then the other end I used a 2" ratcheting truckers tie down strap to put tension on it to pull it apart. I still had to use a wood block with a sledge to help drive it apart while it was in tension......The hot ticket would be to still have the cylinder COMPLETELY full of oil and use a porta power to use hydraulic force to push the snap ring over the temporary groove filling split ring. I have to admit, it is a mess. I probably shot out about a cup or 2 of fluid taking it off and getting it apart. My stupid, idiotic mistake was to not take close up photos of the seals in order to try to procure them outside of Deere. There are 2 seals that are kind of orange in color, not sure if they are teflon or what. I saw no markings on those.

Good news is it is working great again. The opposite side looks good for now, but I'm guessing the seals won't last much longer being long in the tooth. If it is hot outside, and I have an extra $60, I would probably just take it in... Maybe I need to rig up an old hydraulic cylinder to a heavy metal table for pulling these things apart...and write a program for our CNC lathe to make the split sleeve groove fillers. I need to do the ones on the 5420's FEL which is a 541 model FEL.

Kyle, that sounds very much like a job best taken to the thugs at the dealer who are equipped with both the tools and experience to deal with it, or at least are paid to cope with the unpleasantries.:confused2: Or maybe even better, a shop that specializes in hydraulics of all sorts, that isn't subject to the tyranny of using a particular brand of seals and o-rings and such, that can do the same magic for half the cost.

Computer wise, I had very much the same problem trying to get the newest of the AppleTVs to upgrade. It would NOT complete the update when connected via the network, but it would suck up and waste a gigabyte each time trying. Finally ended up connecting it to an Apple laptop and using iTunes to do the update. Perhaps there is a similar capability that would work with an iPad? Failing that, activation seems to indicate that the iPad has not been authorized, i.e. registered, with Apple as belonging to you and OK to download software from the mothership. That's an iCloud thing, so you might start poking around there to make sure that it's happy with the registration. May the Force be with you!:shocked:

Well, my IP chicken was beyond delicious. Not quite following the recipe, had to use Italian seasoning instead of basil, added some red pepper flakes, and gave it 15 minutes in hot oven to crisp up the skin a bit. The broth in bottom of the pot is gonna be a great start on chicken soup.
Looks like we may have talked sister in law and our cottage tenants into their own IP. Our Canadian friends that just left got theirs 2 days ago.

I have to go to the city (Markham) tomorrow, so I will leave here at about 2 A.M. (stupid o'clock) and it is supposed to rain tomorrow. I hope the rain holds off until I get south far enough that it is a softer rain than what we would get here. The meeting starts at 8 A.M., but I want to have breakfast on the way and before I get there. Motel room tomorrow night and an all you can eat Chinese food buffet, then up to the boat on Wednesday on the way home.

This will probably be my last post until Thursday.

Can anyone make a good recommendation on the best driveway pavement sealer to use?
I'm quite sure the "better" version at Lowes makes more sense, but anyone with experience here?
Going to do mine by myself, had horrible experience with local gypsies, they sprayed lightweight black watery junk all over and made
a mess. I want this pushed on with a squeegee....a big job, over a thousand feet, and my fireman helper will do most of the grunt work.
Some edges have been ruined by trucks, lot of repair work to do first.

My thread on basically how to grow corn has been an real eye opener. Started out all wrong with too many varieties, clearly corn is not like tomatoes..., and had quite a challenge trying to separate the various types, white, yellow, Indian, and then GMO/non GMO.
Will go over to my farmer neighbor today and try to find out what type of corn his tenant farmer will put in, corn is the rotation this year, not good timing with my corn right next to this big corn field. Well, as long as it grows and tastes good, that's good for me.
Am learning a lot about plant biology; plus friends sent me a book on this and that was last night's reading.

I remain amazed at the tap root set down by corn. One inch little green stalk above the ground, six inches of root below. I would oh so carefully dig the seedlings out of the tray and the roots would keep coming, and coming...

Good morning, met Ellens mom and dad, great folks! Mom has Alzhiemers but was having a good day. Dad showed me his tractors, all 23 of them! Plus a 29 MB kit car, home built children’s train with 12 cars, antique carriages, one repro built by Otis Marine. Hundreds of antique tools and toys, two whisky stills, etc...
I’m in love dad! LOL He is 81, looks 70 if that, walks like a 40 year old. He was impressed with how many antiques I recognized including the mini washing machines and mechanical rub board. Met her special needs sister who made my day with a big hug.
Invited back to see more stuff.
Now I know where Ellen gets her personality and sass!

Also went to nursing home and met mom and took the ladies fried chicken. Mom gave her a big hug and told her she was happy.
The fried chicken now has me another couple of girl friends.
