Good morning!!!!

I’m not going to stretch it out, but the night in 1974 that I met Lynn, we talked a while and she headed off to work third shift, she was an RN then. A friend asked me who that was, I said that’s the girl I’m going to marry.

My partner and I answered a call about a prowler one night about midnight and besides the older lady who had called, there was a pretty little girl sitting there in the den. I first thought she was a teenager, but somehow in the conversation, the older woman (aunt of the younger one) mentioned that the younger girl was 20 (I was 24 at the time). When we left that house that night, I told my partner, I think I'll just marry that girl. And I did, about 9 months later.:D In a couple of months, it'll be 53 years we've been married.

32ーF and clear skies this morning, going up to 59ー today. Had to scrape frost off the car windshield this morning, but we're looking at 50s and 60s here for the next week or so. I'm OK with that.

My Wife and I met in the summer of 1984 when she walked into the music store where I was working, looking for an electric violin. I was hooked from the moment she walked in the door. The accountant there even bumped me and chuckled, "You gonna be OK?" I saw her a week later out riding with her Father, and asked him if I could ask out his daughter. They both laughed and said yes, and we dated for a little less than a year. I was young and dumb, and thought I'd been "friend-zoned," and went back to my old high school girlfriend (who I married in '86, and divorced in '90). 19 years later, in '03, Dawna and I got back together through mutual friends, and married in '13. Luckiest guy on the planet.

Reading all these stories, I am reminded of a verse from Proverbs 5, which I first noticed at Lenten services when we were in Atlanta during that season some years ago "rejoice with the wife of your youth".

Nice sunny day despite the freezing temps.

The two new sheep, being kept in the barn to have just hay, which I understand should help them dry off:

Most of the rest of our herd, outside grazing:

The goat I milk and two other goats with kids separated from the rest:

A view from a neighbors field-- the white topped mountain is Vihorlat:

Also saw some deer while out walking with the three goats, but the photo didn't turn out so well.

Good Morning!!!! 42F @ 7:00AM. Cloudy with showers. High 48F. SSW winds shifting to N at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 50%.

Only 0.07" of rain so far, and the temps didn't drop enough for any of it to come down as snow. We'll be lucky to make it into the 40s today.

Glad to hear you're back and enjoyed the cruise, Don. I don't blame you for not letting us know you were going; you just never know who might be reading this and decide to drop by the house to see what would look nicer in their own living room. Wonder if your cousin would just take Whipper for you next time; it would save her a seven mile walk and you the anxiety of not knowing where to look for her.

The carb cleaner was delivered Sunday (free with Amazon Prime:thumbsup:), but it might also be a good day to stay inside and stoke the wood stove. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to put some of the cleaner in the ultrasonic bath and turn up the heat to maybe 80F or so, that way my fingers wouldn't get too cold when it came time to fish the parts out of their bath.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

It's warmer this morning 20*, yesterday it was in the high 20's and sunny all day. Today is going to be partly cloudy with a chance of snow showers. The high will be in the mid 30's with the wind 10-15.

Kyle... I'm going back up today to make sure the battery charger is working. I will get a few pic.

My wife and I meant Labor Day weekend of 1975. I was working in Wyo and she was in Denver. To make a long story short. I quite drinking and we had a daughter. We have been together for 42 years and married for 39 years. The one thing for sure, I wouldn't be where I'm how if it wasn't for her.

Hope everyone has a good start to the week.
CWB.

Good morning all! Wind is done (for the time being), 30* going up to 52*. Going to take the dogs to the groomer this morning, stop at TSC for a few things.

Freedomlives, isn't it like the middle of the night there now? Oh no...now your addicted too  good luck on your tractor search, probably not easy. I an only imagine how much more work you'll get done!

Don, welcome back, many folks here were getting worried. Glad you had a great trip!

Ed, sorry to here your mom had a setback, hopefully she'll bounce back quickly. Don't forget about taking care of yourself too!

Scott, very nice that you helped out your neighbor, that alone was finding "a treasure", I'm sure she appreciated the help.

Drew, I have to say, you are a busy man! Keeps you out of trouble?

Great stories about how you guys met your better halves....when you know, you know. Not saying it was easy, I'm sure there were ups and downs, but when you can rely on each other, you make it through.

Hope RIP and the Mrs are doing ok, prayers sent out.
Other folks needing prayers also have them sent. Everyone have a great day, be safe in whatever you're doing!

I think you get the Award of the day for the best idea. Why don't I think of these things?

The recipes used were some I would never try but there was not one I did not like.
Here is the menu for 4 nights that they served on the Holistic cruise - Dinner Menu:

Beet Carpaccio with Mint & Pistachio
Creamy Cauliflower & Celery Soup
Caribbean Carrot Salad with Coconut
Rice & Black Beans with Jerk Portobello & Collard Greens
Tapioca pudding with maple walnut

White Bean Pate'
Minty Green Pea Soup
Horseradish Infused Red Beet Salad
Seitan Stroganoff with Tofu Sour Cream & Chives
Orange Poppy Seed Cake with orange sauce

Indian Spiced Roasted Eggplant
Chipotle Sweet Potato Soup with Ginger
Colorful Heart of Palm Salad with fresh Mint & Basil
Vegetable Curry with Rice & Papadum
Roasted Pears with citrus Sauce

Cashew & Split pea Pate'
Tangy & Sweet Golden Beet Soup
Creole Green Bean Salad with Walnuts & Baby Spinach
Savory Lentil Loaf with Millet Cauliflower Puree & Shiitake Gravy
Key Lime Pie with Fresh Blackberry Sauce

These are just 4 meals 10 were served no items were the same so I had 50 original different dishes - all plant based, no added oils and delicious.

Ed a new film is coming out which was previewed. It was made by the same directors as "Forks over Knives". I should be out in March or April ( they are still working on the ending) it is called "The Game Changers". I missed the long preview because I was stuck on a shore excursion, but I'll see the final version when it comes out.

There is a large landfill in St Louis area that is burning, don't remember what the long term prognosis is, but burning landfills tend to leak whatever is in them into the water table :(

PJ was that Cahokia mounds you were talking about?

Yes, Cahokia Mounds. As a former STLer, I suspect you've either been there, or at least been past it.

The landfill fire is in West STL County, and is at the Westlake Landfill operated by Waste Management. It's been burning for several years now. Besides the obvious issues of water table and smoke contamination, there is a much bigger issue there. That landfill is adjacent to a burial site for radioactive waste from the Manhattan Project, and the fire has been steadily burning towards it. There is nothing in the ground separating the landfill from the containers of radioactive waste. No one is really sure what will happen when that fire reaches the containers, but everyone seems to agree that would be less desirable. Yet, nothing has yet been done to stop the fire or separate the two areas. The EPA recently announced that it is now a "Superfund Site" to be cleaned up, but there is still no actual plan in place to alleviate the problem ... and the fire is still slowly burning it's way along. It is utterly amazing how this has been ignored by virtually every government agency involved, from local up to federal. Were it not for the constant complaints and persistence of nearby residents, I think no one would have acted until it was too late.

I don't care how nice the cruise was, I would end up starving! Just couldn't do that for a week...I don't care how healthy it is...it would kill me!

You sound like my Brother. His wife and child wish he could have. So do I. I miss him. There was plenty of studies and data listed that proved it reverses heart disease. You can also eat off the regular menu - so you would not starve.
