Up early. Raining here, we have had a light rain for the last couple of days. The rain, and a frozen drain underneath the driveway at my wife's shop has resulted in a flooded parking area. I rented a 3 in trash pump yesterday to pump out the water, wow that baby can really move water! Going over there to check out water level, then go out for breakfast....:)

Have a good one, guys!

Winter on it's best behaviour here this morning. No rain, sun is shining and the wind has taken a day's holiday. Perfect for a few hours more hedge laying this afternoon.

In case RNG doesn't get back today, I'll announce it's Hump day. Ed, that's your cue for more camel stories. :)

I watched a couple of hedge laying U tube vids. Lots of work, and some of those guys aren't young!

Edit: Not including any posters here....:)

Good morning all. No rain here, 80 degrees today and tomorrow, warm until this weekend when it all changes and cooler weather comes back.

I got the sprinklers working in the garden, temporary set up until the water line is put in. Have everything running off a four way manifold so I can start and stop individual sprinklers. With "hose" pressure, only really runs one sprinkler properly but hopefully after the inline pump is installed, I can run four. It says it will run 30 sprinklers at once. ? One line runs drip tape down the unfenced portion, and then it's a long, long haul to the potatoes. Prior owner of farm left about 1000 feet of drip hose in barn. Today I find out if it works or falls apart.

spent two hours yesterday struggling with implements, first I tried to dig a small trench/water ditch with the potato plow, and that was useless, just skipped along on top. Then off came the potato plow and on came the Fred Cain subsoiler. Oh is that thing heavy, what a beast to put on by myself, holding up something that weighs hundreds of pounds, trying to balance it with one's body while trying to get the pins in, wound up tired, full of grease, but got it on. Subsoiler didn't work well on larger Massey, lift arms seemed too long, put the shortest top link on I had and I still couldn't get the angle of entry right. I guess I need an even shorter top link. Another item on my TSC list. But after a fashion it did scratch a trench in the bottom of the field, where the water doesn't drain, and now there is some form of drain. First I have to go down with a shovel and shovel out the "diggings". I've drowned too many trees to know that I can't let water sit anywhere near them.

Otherwise I have blades to sharpen and a list of to do's that never seems to get shorter.

But it's a beautiful day, life is good, and going to make the most of it.

Are you practicing for the championship?

60 headed to 79. Too warm for February, but I'll take it. Yesterday's windy 75 started drying the ground, but need more today.

Randy, that building looks roomy. Looks like you need to buy one more piece of equipment for it :).

Buppies, are you back to 100% well, yet? Seems we are adding sick and injured faster than healing them.

64 now and might get near 80 today, back to mid 50s tomorrow.
This is my second La Crosse weather station, like Bird I paid $80 for it at Sams. My previous unit was 3x that 20 years ago. Other than barometer which I will order as soon as I remember it, it does all I want it to do. It’s internet connected, as well as stand alone, using the app it was extremely simple to install, much easier than the old one. You add sensors by scanning the bar code with your phone, everything else is done automatically. Those so called self emptying rain gauges are basically just flow meters. My old one actually dumped its self at 1” and started over. I could have bought a $400-$800 unit, but why? I don’t farm, fly, advise planting schedule, I’m not a waterman or professional sailor. I guess over the years I’ve pissed away a few fortunes on classic cars and such and left others wondering why. We all have our albatross.
